This is from Doug Kondziolka's Face Book Page-
From Don Juan and Miguel® to our fans and friends at the Sterling Renaissance Festival:
2020 was difficult. We had looked forward to performing for you at the Sterling Festival last year but, as you know, the Pandemic had other plans for us. With that said, we are sorry to announce that we will not be performing at Sterling this upcoming season. We have been a part of that festival in many ways for many decades now.  We want you to know that we've always given our best in our shows, and have worked hard to provide everyone with an enjoyable and safe experience through our attractions:  Archery, The Dungeon Museum and The Maze.

It appears that management has decided that our relationship with Sterling has come to an end.  At the beginning of the year Mr. Waterbury contacted José saying: "I'm thinking that it's time to pass the torch on your games at Sterling. What's your price?"  We had been in negotiations with another buyer and we gave Mr. Waterbury what we believe to have been a fair price. His response was to refuse to allow us to sell the games to anyone else, cancelling our contracts, and not agreeing to pay for the games at any price.  We've enlisted the aid of a lawyer and, from our side, are trying to deal with all of this in a fair and equitable manner. Unfortunately, negotiations are not going all that well. In his last communication, Mr. Waterbury called our games neglected and unsafe and stated that all structures must be removed by April 2 or they become property of the festival. He also mentioned "the significant cost of fighting a losing battle..." which could be considered a veiled threat.

The April 2nd date is particularly difficult for us due to preparations we need to make for Scarborough Faire and Sterling management is well aware of this.  We're very sad to find ourselves in this situation.
We know that many of you love this place, and you have sacrificed time and money to support what has been called "Lady Sterling". Please know that "Lady Sterling" is not a place, but an idea and one that we will hold in our hearts as we move forward.

Thank you all for your support throughout the years. We have truly enjoyed performing for you all. We have been proud of our attractions: The Maze, Archery, and The Dungeon Museum and especially proud of the quality of the people who worked for us. Be well and safe.
