This sounds like fun. I'll definitely try to make it! I'm in OKC, but by Nov. I may not be able to do much at all.

Is it inside? I'm not familiar with the casinos out there, and I don't know the lay of the land. Will there be more info on the website soon?

I'm sure that there will be opportunities for vendors.  Give them a shot at their website.  I'm not affiliated w/ the faire.  I just try to spread the word after my favorite Medieval Faire died a tragic death last year, I spread the word on faires around OK.

I've heard that the faire will be outside adjacent to a big amphitheater.  I hope it won't be too cold that weekend.  I can't really see that as it's only 5 weeks away & it was 85 degrees today.  Who knows?

Just out of curiosity, since I grew up in NW OK, I looked up the average first freeze date http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/climate/freeze/okc.php, and found it to be November 4.  Just from experience, I'd say that the weather could be anywhere from freezing (highs in the 40s) to mild (highs in the 60s-70s) by Nov 8-9.  Either way, we can't make it.

First freeze doesn't usually last long around here, unless it's a freak ice storm that breaks all the trees in half. But generally it's just a hard frost that's gone by about 10am, and it's back up in the mid 70's by noon. We sometimes have long Indian Summer here until the beginning of December. Not always, though...

The name on this faire has been changed to Heartland Renaissance Faire. Location and dates remain the same.

Despite this faire being in our home state, I doubt we (TLotSK) will ever work this one.  But since it falls in our off season and admission is free (per the Ala Cart website), we might venture down for a day of play and visiting.  Would be a good experience for my new ladies and a chance to try out lane bits before our spring kick-off.

I'll be there Saturday.  I can't miss the last event of the season.  It should be a nice drive down Route 66 as well.  Huzzah!

Yesterday presented a well-organized Renfaire ala carte.  This faire can be packaged & put on almost anywhere.  It fit well w/i a roughly 5 acre site that already had an amphitheater & was surrounded by a privacy fence.  There was lots of bleed over from acts in the amphitheater & the jousting field to the other stages though.  Without the fence it would have been better.

There was lots of good entertainment.  Faerna was a very good little band.  Lord Kerriwyn was entertaining w/ Scotty the fox puppet.  That act apparently won over the heart of the owner of KCRF & he hates puppets.  Queen's Gambit had a flute that could be heard over all of the grounds.  That brought a nice air to the faire.  Fugli Troll was strolling about playing good tunes but was nearly drowned out all of the time.

Again, I spent most of the time hanging out w/ Leghorn the Bagpiper.  He's always entertaining & full of faire/music knowledge.  I've learned a lot about faires in TX & OK.  He even agreed to be interviewed for my next edition of my faire information flyer.  His will be the 1st interview to grace my handout.  It should be available early next year.
