Question - CRF Wheelchair Accesible?

Greetings to you all, good Carolinians. I will be in Charlotte this weekend for a family reunion (Yes, it must be told, I do have ties to the great state of NC), and the opportunity may present itself for Lady Elfwine and myself to pay tribute to your fine faire, whose oustanding reputation precedes it!

I do have one question for anyone who can present fact/opinion - How wheelchair accesible is CRF? My elderly mother is wheelchair bound for long expeditions. We  do get her out to see things and enjoy life, however (Lady Elfwine and I pushed her all around the mall area in D.C., and mom enjoyed it greatly...OK, Lady Elfwine did most of the pushing...).

Does pushing a wheelchair around CRF present a problem? How are the grounds?

I thank you all ahead of time, and I do hope that we are able to see some of you this weekend. Look for the plushy squirrel on the staff...and the lady in the wheelchair...:-)

Cheers!

You should find no difficulties.  The paths are smooth and the terrain has no really steep slopes.  Some areas get a little muddy when it rains, but there's always a way around the mire.  Most shops are wheelchair-accessible, and (of course), all privy stations have the oversized potties as well.  Handicapped parking is available, so be sure to bring a handicapped hang-tag if you have one.

As long as it doesn't rain much before the weekend, you should be fine.  I saw plenty of wheelchairs on Saturday, so I'm sure it won't be a problem for you.

There was a guy outside the Lancer's Pub chatting us up on Sat in an electric wheelchair.  Lady Dracolich and I will be in attendance both days, do say hi!

Imagine, you and Lady Dracolich getting chatted up...;-)

It will be a pleasure to see you again, and I hope we make it there!

Thanks to all!!

Hey... that was Mehan and Lady Mikayla of Phoenicia getting chatted up, thank you - the problem was, we were so busy catching each other up we kept ignoring the gentleman....

If someone hasn't said it to you before now - remember it is a Race weekend, traffic will be terrible - but on the good side, chances are the attendance will be down, giving you much more wheelchair maneuvering room.

Amras Elfwine

Ah, undertand, sorry, lass, I am constantly confused...not enough good whisky in me system at the moment, probably...luckily, we'll be pratically there, so hopefully, traffic won't effect us too much...hope we can make it!

Hey Amras -

I was in a power wheelchair for three and a half years, and I have actually been to CRF in a wheelchair. It is definitely one of the more handicap accessible events. The grounds do slope, but it is a fairly gentle slope, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem, and most of the shops do have ramps and wide doorways. You will be pushing her back uphill at the end of the day, but I feel sure that you will have plenty of us that would be willing to help, if need be. I do hope she will come, as I am sure she would have a wonderful time.    :)

I second Peddlin's suggestion....I would be happy to escort your Queen Mum if you are in need of assistance.   Looking forward to Saturday!

I thank you all!!

Spoke with my cousin in Charlotte last night...she reminded me that the faire was going on. :D
She also mentioned that she had an opportunity to work for the good folks at Ophelia's (one of Lady Elfwine's and mine's favorite clothing vendors), but was unable to due to sudden circumstances.

The weird thing is, I had been on the Ophelia's website just minutes before the phone-con...it is a small world!

Hope to be out there!!

Here's a little more irony for you, bought a new bodice and goddess dress from Ophelia's last weekend.   ::)

We are on the ground in Charlotte...

Yep, no garb this time, no room in our light packing job...so if we make it, look for the guy in the Albannach T-shirt.

And the R/F pin on his hat...OK, so not totally naked, just naked enough.

Cheers!

Alas, I was (and still am) laid up with a viral infection that is kicking my not-so-young rear end.
Hope you all enjoyed what appeared to be a lovely faire day on Sunday, and we'll try it again next year.

Just hope to shake it in time for last weekend (this weekend) at MDRF.

Cheers!!

Take care Amras, we'll be counting you to visit next year. Now be good, take your medicine and drink plenty of fluids.

Yes, lots and lots of fluids. If you drink enough fluids, you won't care how bad you feel!  ;)

I do hope you feel better, very soon, and I will be thinking of you.
