My twin sister and I will be attending LARF this year for the first time the weekend of Nov 8-9th.  I have wanted to come to this faire for a few years now, but this is the first opportunity.  I met your fair Queen Elizabeth on the sewing forums last year and have had a great interest in attending your faire ever since!!  I usually dress as QE1 at TRF, Scarby, and Fourwinds, but I will be coming in my Elizabethan noble garb and dressing it down a bit for LARF.

So what do we need to see when we come?  What do we need to eat?

You and your sister Must attend a wine tasting they are soooo much fun.

LadyElizabeth

That's an excellent suggestion... I absolutely adore wine, and wine tasting, and would always love to try more and learn more.  We've been wine tasting all over the world, so it should be quite fun.  I think I'm going to buy our tickets pretty soon then for that Saturday.

Another question for a newbie, how many people camp at LARF and do people hang out after fair together?

There's enough camping to make it worth staying. Saturday night can get lively. We have a very nice patron camping director who devotes himself to keeping up the campground and keeping up the camper's spirits.

Not to take away from the on-site patron camping, but if you were to go on the Thanksgiving weekend, you would be amazed at the goings on at the Hidden Oaks Campground 1 1/2 miles from the faire site.  On that weekend they have a traditional Indian POW-WOW.  We have attended it twice and I can assure you it is well worth the visit, even if you don't camp there.  The costumes are breath taking and the vendors goods are all authentic.

Sadly, the Louisiana Indian Heritage Fall Powwow has been moved to the Lamar Dixon Arena in Gonzales on November 29-30.  They opted for more certain facilities over risky outdoor weather at Hidden Oaks.

Gonzales is a small trip from Hammond and since the powwow is open until 11pm on Saturday night it may still be possible to visit after a day at LRF.

I would not say "sadly" unless it were cancelled alltogether.  And true since it goes until 11PM  it is still possible to attend and catch a little of it.  I understand their reasoning, though the 2 times that we went it was just a bit cold.  If at all possible I would encourage anyone that can, to attend.

YEAH, we're getting ready for this weekend!!!  We are so very very excited about attending this fair for the first time.

We bought tickets to the wine tasting on Saturday afternoon as recommended by your Queen.  We are both going to be wearing our brand new riding hats this weekend, so maybe you can spot us that way.  We also wear full out Elizabethan noble garb.

We're packing tonight and leaving at 4 tomorrow, which should put us at the campgrounds by 9pm.  Can't wait to meet everyone and make some new friends!! ;D

Rachel and I had an absolutely fabulous time this past weekend and made so many new friends!!!  We sadly didn't get a chance to say goodbye to a few of them since we had to leave early on Sunday to get home at a decent hr.... which ended up being around 11:30pm!!

We have both decided to make LARF a yearly trip for sure and truly wish it could be more... though with the overlap of TRF and LARF, that makes it quite difficult!!  We'll post the pics we took of this weekend as soon as we download them.
