Should be Flogged !? ;)

Actually, I smoked for years and successfully kicked the habit along with my wife with the help of "Chantix"
Chantix was an unbelievable aid in helping us quit the habit.

One thing that hasn't been addressed much is how devastatingly addictive smoking is.  It's really hard to drop an addiction unless you really want to.  I've heard from people who were addicted to heroin that it was easier to kick than smoking.  So have compassion for those who are truly trying and try to be as supportive as you can be if they are making this most valiant effort.  And again, for those with young people, try to build a negative attitude around it and if you're a smoking adult, be brave and quit yourself.

Lady Gwendolyn,
All you can do is to serve as a positive role model for them, and make them strong, independent thinkers. Young people who start smoking, I think, are almost always bowing to a kind of peer pressure to fit in and "look cool"...strong, independent thinkers are more likely to cosider the ramifications of smoking, and refuse to do so...how cool does someone look dragging an oxygen tank around with them?

Love and positive thoughts for you!
Thanks for being a concerned parent!!

Huzzah to your reply as well, Amras!  Independent thinking is crucial to standing up to peer pressure.  Even when my son has sometimes bucked authority figures inappropriately, I commend him on thinking for himself.

I'm glad you found something that worked for you, and I was going to look into this brand myself based on your testimony,  but I just saw one of those case action lawsuit ads on tv, and this one was about Chantix.  apparently it can lead to an onset of diabetes, or more disterbing, suicide.

New anti-smoking slogan here:
Smoking, if the smoke doesn't kill you, quiting just might finnish the job.

Interesting, never heard about the onset of diabetes. We did know about some people having suicidal thoughts, we personally never experienced any. Then again that could be just us. We did however experience some vivid dreams.
