PyrateCon New Orleans April 3-5 2009

After reading through all 5 pages of piratey topics, I did not find any that refer to Pyrate Con.

It's a gathering of pirates from around the globe. Workshops (ie: how to make rum,) black powder, sword fighting, vendors and the big parade where thousands of us march to make our presense known!! Last year a few of the pirate actors from POTC were present. Armando (previously in the pirate crew at TRF) is the master of ceremonies this year. The Jolly Garogers and The Pirates Charles are playing.

"This year's theme is "Search For Lafitte's Ghost" with participating Haunted New Orleans Tours, ghostly interactions throughout the weekend, LaFitte's Treasure Hunt, Voodoo Queen invitation for the dead of New Orleans to party, and our "Dead Can Dance" Grand Ball."

I attended last year and had more fun than swatting a boatload o' fairies! The hotels are pricey though, $129 + per night, so folks went in together. Anyone planning to attend that is not going to Scarby that particular weekend? I have space in my vehicle for a few pirates and yarr plunder. Anyone want to pitch in and get a room together? Some folks stuffed a dozen people per room last year by bringing air mattresses!

This sounds like an amazing time and something right up our proverbial alley however it conflicts with another event - our Annual Frankenfeast in Frankenmuth Michigan. Please tell us all about it when you return.
