Skype is a free internet program that allows you to talk or text to another person with it and also use a web cam at the same time. many soldiers over seas use it to communicate back home. You can also call anyones regular phone from it at a low cost if you want. But the rest is free. It is really a nice program. It is used all over the world and is in many languages. They make their money by the calls to the regular phones and cell phones. But you can do it for free from pc to pc and its clear.

I remember Skype, back in the day (lol).

Now I use Ventrilo almost exclusively for voice chat (does not do video chat). Ventrilo was a necessary move for me because it supports large groups in one conversation AND because it can be run behind my MMORPGs without interfering with the game (voice chat is fairly important for game objectives which require precise coordination of groups of people- especially when half of them are clueless as to what's going on). Skype (because of it's video aspect, I imagine, which is useless behind a game anyway) seemed to eat too much of my system resources
