Scarborough is going to have a photo spread in Renaissance Magazine.  In celebration, the magazine is offering a special subscription deal:

"HUZZAH!  In honor of  issue #66 having the Scarborough Renaissance Festival's photo spread, we are offering your members a discounted rate to subscribe.  They will start their subscription with issue #66 which includes Scarborough Renaissance Festival's photo spread.

Please email the following link to your database or post the link on your web blog so all can take advantage of this special pricing.  (Subscribers can also renew taking advantage of this special rate.)"

If you have never read the magazine you should.  It is really terrific.  It features a great blend of historical information as well as features on Faires and gatherings around the country.  Their calendar and Renaissance based advertisers are worth it just by themselves.

Oh! How cool!
:D

Do you know which characters will be in the spread?

Var Greyshadow

Sweet!!  I already subscribe, so I'll be looking forward to that issue coming through the mail slot.  Can't wait to see who makes it!

LOYALTY is not amongst them.

Has anyone who subscribes gotten it yet?  I'm eagerly awaiting its appearance through my mail slot and am wondering if I need to call to see what the delay is.

I finally saw a copy of it.  Joe who has the bookshop on-site at Scarborough brought a copy for us to peruse.  There are two pages with the Knights of Noble Cause.  There's a full-page photo of my wife, Susan, as Archduchess Sabine.  She has a great happy smile and looks "fan-tabulous" as always!  Then there's a couple of pages with a number of our performing company, all looking AbFab!  I can't remember them all, but they include my pals, the Duke of Suffolk Charles Brandon and Magnus Krane at the Motley Players III show.

The photo of Shannon as Queen Anne has an, "Uh aroo?!?" look on her face.  She's still as lovely as always, but it's nowhere near as astonishing her Issue #23 "Cover-girl" photo.

The last photo is the Cover-boy picture.

Mine came yesterday too!  I agree with SirRichardBear - very good pictures of many familiar faces.  I do wish they would've included a few shots of the village itself.  You don't get a real feel for the faire.  Also, not one picture of the Scots and nary a Green Sash in sight!

I thought the same thing Var Greyshadow they give a nice intro about the site but then didn't show any pictures of the village.

Was anyone else surprised by the article about which side a lady should be on?

I am with you,  the article on walking with your lady is completely the opposite of what we practice at SRF.  The lady should be on your right.  Men were trained to be right-handed in swordsmanship.  Even if you were left-handed, you still learned to fight with your right (and then either/or, and both, as in Florentine).  Putting the sword between you and the lady is awkward, and pushing her forward and across you puts her - well, right in the way of the brigand!!!

I foresee a letter writing campaign to the editors...

He writes about using his lady as an off hand weapon i.e. throwing her at the brigand Not sure my lady would approve of that style of fighting.  Each to there own I'm sure they will get letters about the lady on the left being no lady.

Great spread, but as everyone is saying we would love to have seen more of the village and more of the players! Just can't get enough of Scarborough Faire! VIII looks great on the cover, I believe he may get hit up by others....GQ, People, Time, Playgirl! Looks great though, seriously and here's to the best Faire in the world!! (according to a study done by gnomes and fairies in 2006, and every Scarby aficionado who ever lived and breathed).

Only in FULL garb! ::)
I had several Cast members inform me that someone was looking for me to autograph their copy.  When they caught up with me, they had a silver Sharpie for me to use (I gotta get me one of them) and I had my first 'cover-boy' autograph of the season!

No Fair! my B&N has not received the magazine yet.
Where else in DFW might the Magazine be already on the shelves?

SirRichardBear

Have you tried Borders?  You might call and see if they have the issue in.
