Since we are all in the mood and with ren fests once again is time to get all your input on what you would all like to vote for in the 5th Annual Renaissance Festival Awards tell me categories you would like to vote for. Also I'm only taking categories ideas right know that may or may not be used. Remember the voting starts in SEPT. here is the list so far of ideas:

(Nominations for the Hall of Fame must have made a significant contribution to the Renaissance Festival community)

How about a worst act award for those acts which aren't very good.

I would suggest an amendment to item 14. Best New Renaissance Festival: (the first year of the faire was 2009)

If you have ever been involved with the start up of a new festival, you know that it takes more than the first year for the faire to find its identity.  Believe me, a festival in its <i>second</i> year is a long, long, way from being an old, established, entity.  I would suggest that a NEW faire is any faire less than 5 years old.  Perhaps you feel differently, and may wish to go as short as three years, but I think you'll agree that one year is just too little time.

What do you say to a faire? "You've been around since 2007, you're ready to compete with MDRF!"

Give new faires a chance to work out a few kinks, develop a word-of-mouth reputation, and get settled in.

Like the ideas. Sadly MN ren fare is trying to stop all Baudy Act . I will at it to the list to and we will talk it over

I think having a worst act award would be terrible.  This is an awards presentation to the best performances. . .  why slam on someone when they're possibly doing the best they can when performing?  I think a "Renaissance Turkey Awards" should be a totally different listing. . . IMHO.
