Since the "pirates of the Johnny Depp" came out some of our shop help has been played "Slap Jack" -They swat each other when they see a cheesy Capt. Sparrow wannabe (Kind of like playing "Slug Bug" when you're on a road trip and see a VW bug) They now have a new game called "Sprite Bite". They pinch each other if they are the first one to see a Twig wannabe -especially since we heard there have been some playtrons passing out glass drops to kids the way Twig does and even accepting tips from parents, or giving out the drops in one hand while holding a beer in the other.

Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

VERY bad form indeed!  No doubt this type of behaviour would be grounds for removal.

On the positive side, two young folk stopped in the shop last week, a young couple.  The quality of their Fae garb was above reproach as was their attitude.  Rarely see male fae, very refreshing.  Yet again a reminder I need to bring my camera!

Because it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more. Now SEW, and keep the stitches small

Yeah, the beer thing is tacky if interacting with kids.  There is only one Twig - think it would be hard or near impossible to replicate her.  As far as the male fae goes - that would be cool to see Noble Dreg - keep that camera handy.
It's always time for Chardonnay!

It is a shame. I ran into one of them. The other weekend, just after that things got all screwy for even us fairies who don't look like Twig.

But has anyones shoulder turned blue yet from the bruises that must be going out with that many punches?
Bubbles are pure magic... if you don't believe me watch any man, woman, or child chase a bubble down the road.

Carr Hagerman actually confronted one of them in front of our booth second weekend and saw me watching so clued me in afterwards. This apparently the one with the beer in one hand -pretty tacky. I think they are limiting the sprite bite game to the ones who are obvious trying to imitate Twig like trying to do her "walk".

Can't blame them to a certain extent, admittedly Twig has become a literal icon at Renfairs around the country.

I have to say I am not a big fan of some of the new "fae" on cast this year.... One of them appears to be trying to imitate Twig (badly if I do say so myself) not with the costume (which is bad as well) but with her mannerism's, and the other one is just too weird for my taste, screaming all the time...

It's always Beer:30 here....

*sigh* So many kilts, so little time......

I don't get the screaming nutso fairy either.  And I don't care to at this point.

I don't think I've seen the screaming faerie. Sounds crazy, but I'd be interested to see it for myself.

We need some male fae on cast!!
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

renren

Oh good lord, a screaming fae? On cast?
Huh. gonna look for that if I get back to faire this year.

Forgive my ignorance, but who is this "Twig" you refer to, and how is she famous?  I am new to this whole relm.... :)

I believe the one who sort of acts like Twig is a dyrad. Only really seen her when the parade passes. There's a screaming fairy? Details please!

Twig is a popular Fairy at MNRF that is based in Minnesota. She is very good. Queen of the Fairys you could say.
Also travels to other festivals.

Yeah, a year or so ago she featured prominently in the advertising of at least four of the major multi-weekend Renfairs including AZRF and MNRF. Hence, my comment that she has become a literal icon at Renfairs around the country. See a pics of her playing her double whistle currently at

She hands out little glass drops to small children and has a distinctive on-her-toes prancing walk that other fey have started to try to imitate.

She sounds like a wonderful Fae and it would be a pleasure to meet such a lady.  I commend  her!!!
