OMG! What an awesome free concert that was. Parrot Heads united!!

I tell ya, last year I was in the lawn area, but this year I got to sit (or should I say stand) in actual seats. Jimmy was so much closer!!! I think he had on the same outfit though as the concert last year, ( blue board shorts and a bright yellow shirt). Even the Coral Reefer band came up from Key west to play with him and he did bless his heart like 10 songs!!! It was sooooo awesome!!!  :) Beer though was $9 a pop.

I do have some sad news to report though....he did say that yesterday (Sunday Nov. 2nd) Captain Tony (the guy that owned the bar down in Key West) passed away yesterday and he did a tribute song to him. You could see Jimmy was pretty choked up about it. He said the guy was like 92 or 93. Very sad....but, still an awesom free party!!!

Pradznichnaya...  In Afghanistan, the Soviet troops drank brake fluid when they ran out of Pradznichnaya and Stolichnaya.

Now Moskovkaya...  there's a real enjoyable vodka!  And I HATE vodka!

Hail, Mad Jack...I can neither confirm nor deny that soviet aircrewmen also developed a fondness for aircraft deicing fluid...those wacky vozdushnij ekrazh!!...i tol'ko, er, I mean, and also, soviet infantry were noted for their ingenious method of spreading their alcohol-based shoe polish on bread...they'd leave it awhile, scrape off the polish, and then eat the alcohol-sodden bread...now thats a cold way to spend a little time on the tundra!!

Cheers!!

I just ran across this, and can't believe I didn't hear from friends in the Keys... Tony was one of my all time favorite people, and over the several winters I spent in Key West I alternately worked for him, drank with him, hung out in the bar, or just toked up in the back room (well, everyone has their wild years, right???). I knew him long after his Midnight Run days, and before, during and after his days as Mayor of KW, and he was always quick with a joke, light up your smoke, or spot you a drink if you were down to fishin' for your supper. Many nights spent blind drunk and wonderin' which way the boat was, and several with Saint Jimmy (JB at the time), Tony and the crew playing poker or rollin' a few for the road. I've had pieces of poetry and business cards up on the walls or ceiling of the bar (bearing the name of the Man, himself), and even been escorted home when I was too drunk to behave politely in public. I have the distinct honor to have never been thrown out, though, no matter how obnoxious I managed to get, and I'll never forget the man who shared so much of himself and his adventures, both in person and in stories...

Kick back on deck, Tony, have a brew, and let someone else take the wheel for a while. Oh, and kiss the wife and baby for me... I know you're all finally happy together again...! Goodbye, my friend...

I knew it...  Tony laughed so hard he cried the first time he heard it, but I always suspected one of those tears was the genuine article...   :'(  :D  :'(
