Apparently Mon June 29 was National Camera Day. Who knew and why did DotPhoto wait till July 2 to send an email about it?

Hey watch the skies tonight and tomorrow.
we are on MST and the meteor shower should be visible around 11pm. Hopefully...
Dang, I WOULD have to work an early shift both tomorrow and the next day. Figures...still, I may go out just to see what i can see.
2009 Leonid meteor shower (http://www.astronomy.com/asy/default.aspx?c=a&id=8774) Nov 16/17.
Hopefully the weather gods will favor us once before the year ends. We haven't been able to get outside for astrophotography at all this year. The solar minimum has kept us from shooting the sun too. Nothing very exciting other than a blank disc all year.
Jon.
I have the 16th off and work late on the 17th, so I'm hoping for clear skies so I can sit out all night...
One of my favorite photographic events: Argust Day!
It's always in August and corresponds with whatever year it is. For 2010, Argust Day is August 10th.
Dust off your Argus camera - ANY Argus camera - and snap away!

I just searched to see if there is going to be an Earth day mosaic for 2010. Couldn't find it and the 2009 page is a domain placeholder.

Hopefully I'll be home for this year's event. Only one nearby me so far, maybe I'll start one up closer to home. :)
Only one near me right now. It's at the historic district in Franklin. But I expect others will open in Nashville.

Not Allison Davies! She packed her photo-bag and embarked on a quest for the true land of the Apes: the deserts of Arizona.
12 years later, Allison debuted Outerland, an astonishing assortment of images taken on "whoa"-inducing sci-fi film locations all over the world.

Beautiful photos. I understand this is a concept book, but I'd love to know more specifics about each shot. If #7 were in black & white, it would look a lot like a Twilight Zone landscape. I'm not sure what that is in #10 (which, I suppose, is the point :)). Assuming that is Allison in #11, how do you think she took a self-portrait from that distance? Is there an IR remote that has that kind of reach or might it have been a timer?
those were my thoughts as well, Sir Martin. Love the images!

Yesterday was Manhattan Henge (http://www.longislandpress.com/2011/05/31/manhattanhenge-2011-best-places-to-watch/). Totally missed it. Which was easy to do cause I'm not in NY.
it'll be back in July http://gothamist.com/2011/05/28/manhattanhenge_rises_this_monday.php so if you're there.
