I've just put a countdown timer for GaRF in my dashboard on my mac... it says there are:
3 months and 16 days left!
:D :D :D :D :D
Hope to see you all there!
woooo hoooooo i'll be there at least once this year if not twice or three times
I'm hoping for three visits this year!
I have plans to visit GARF this year also. Not sure when, but I will be there!
I should be there every weekend this year, possibly working for Crimson Chain. Should know for sure soon. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. And of course meeting more of you and those I missed last year.
Ok.. I think I have you Georgia folks figured out now! I plan to get there at least twice, probably opening and closing. I will come completely prepared to exhaust myself eating drinking and merry making! Y'all do it up well!
come on over amy there is plenty of merry making and food and great grounds to roam
faireimp, you started the countdown on Dec 31st? Are you serious? -lol- :D
Ahh...well...all I have to do is try and figure out some garb for me or my gal...then the time should run out before I know it! :P
I hope to be there opening and closing weekends as well, lady amy!
first weekend, with cousinsm and friends from Indy( our french ambassadors) we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary with a renewal!
closing weekend, returning with a gaggle of fairies again! ( hopefully unleashing my new 2011 chracter on the unsuspecting GARFers!)
COUNTDOWN UPDATE:
2 MONTHS AND 11 DAYS!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Yeaaaaaaa
Got the news today. I'll definitely be working at Crimson Chain this season, so everyone thats makes it this way be sure to say hello.
will do that
I'm working at Sandlar or the jewelry place in the church this year. Look for me either place. :)
I'm gonna be there opening weekend! ;D
52 days till then.
yeaaaaaa opening weekend here i come
1 MONTH AND 15 DAYS!!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
-ahem-
:)
Oh Lordy... and the dress fabric is still folded neatly on the work table... Not a bead out of the bags yet! Yikes
time i try everything on again with new items an items that didn't change time to dust things off and get ready to go.
Mine is still in my drawer! I'm saving up for some more Moresca. I need to finish my outfit! :D (and possibly buy another pair of Sandlars!)
OK.. Just booked my room at the Wyndham using the offer from the GARF website. Not a bad deal AT ALL. Now I am REALLY counting the minutes.
37 DAYS
31 DAYS!!
:D with warmer weather headed this way, it won't be long now!
did anyone notice that the washing well wenches aren't going to be here this season? i thought that was odd. they've been at the faire for a while now.
what why aren't the washing well wenches going to be there?
Meh.
Things change.
I can't think of a single act/performer that's still there since I started attending in '88. Heck, comparing the fest from around '97 to the fest of as recent as, say, '07 isn't even the same.
Things change.
Memorial Day weekend can't get here soon enough. My Lady and I are getting our garb together already...
Ok... Only 28 days to finish the dresses... 28 days to decide what goes in the basket... 28 days to pack the suitcases...
are you coming second weekend? 'cause it's only 21 days (or 3 weeks!) until opening day! :D
Oh my God... My failure to do simple math lost me a week of work time. Thank you for the correction! Yikes! See you on the 16th!
TWO WEEKS!!!!!
:D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D
yea!!!!!!!!!
now scrambling to peice together my best friends costume before opening day
Yikes. Please let The Girl's bodice arrive in time! :o

I agree! That would be fantastic. *fingers crossed*
April 16th is coming quickly :)
I don't know if I want the 16th to hurry and get here or slow down and let me finish the dress! but my Escort has 2 new shirts to wear with his kilt! I can't wait to see everyone. Should we plan to find the crew at the front gate for a picture or something we can post?

Yea! The bodice is shipped!!! Can not wait. :)
I can't wait for the 16th to get here but in the same time the hunt for a peasant shirt is continueous
11 and 1/2 days left ;D I couldn't be more please! Well, if the 16th was tomorrow, than maybe I would be.
Looking forward to opening weekend and visiting GARF for the first time!
Looking foward to seeing you LadyHawk! We will be mixing and milling outside the gates before cannon. I hope I spot you for a pic!
I am a little upset that our plans for a weekend attending the festivities has been upset, and reduced to what appears to be now just a day trip on opening day. The costs incurred with a long term visit currently warranted a reassessment of our initial plans due to the machinations of those who would profess to lead this great land. I shall be looking for those pilgrims (six to be exact) who are familiar with the Following Orders thread and who made a journey of four hours or more to attend our annual event in Fairhaven.
Safe travels to all.

For however long you are able to be there the Shire will be all the better for having you WarriorMonk. I will watch for you and yours to wish you a great season (and check out the red threads if possible) Be Well!
look for my black hat with the gold roses and blue lace trim
i may have friends with me opening weekend with a few little ones

Indeed! Shall I be able to spot you by your plaid? I will be in my green high-collared corset and green skirt. I will also be bringing a very tall newbie pirate. We shall be there before opening cannon.

ONE WEEK TODAY!!! i just checked the forecast. and tentatively there is very small chance of showers on saturday with a high of 69, and sunday, sunny with a high of 72! perfect weather for opening weekend! (though we all know how forecasts in georgia tend to change dramatically in the course of a week)
I will either be at Ancient Arts Jewelry or at Son of Sandlar. Check for me at both locals. :) see you guys on Saturday! :)

Ooo, huzzah!
Wha Hoo for tall pirates! Good Girl! Not wearing the plaids this year, I am attempting to be ready with the new silver gray court gown. Not sure if it will be walking by Saturday so the back up is wine and gold.
Yippee the time is nearly upon us. I will be working Crimson Chain so look for me there, and my wife will either be there with me or working at The Peacock Tea Room, not sure about which this weekend.
I can't wait i'm so excited. at the moment it looks like there will be three of us possibly a fourth i don't know yet.
I am completely stoked about opening day. FOUR MORE DAYS!!! Yea! I am hoping the weather remains in good spirits.
Eric The Ugly, one of my besties, and a friend from school may be joining us. :)
And I can not wait to wear my new bodice, which is absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Eric for such a grand Valentine's gift. :)
yay!! the wedding renewal stuff is ALMOST done!! whoot!!
we will be there saturday with four other nobles in tow!! whoot! you will not be able to miss up! I am in gold and burgundy w/ new french hood with an embroidered golden veil. hunny is in new elizabethan black and gold striped doublet and black pumpkin pants. be sure to say hello, as i may not be able to see you very well.
I haven't decided if I'm going to go this weekend or not... I'll probably know by Thursday night. LOL It'll be last minute, as always! ;)
Wow. The weather looks like it's going to be the coolest day I've experienced at Ren Fest since the fall festival. A high of 64?!? :o

Well, the weather looks like it's back to where it was a few days ago. High of 71, and 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms. I am praying bad weather away. But, see, we have gone before with those weather perdictions before, and the day was remarkably beautiful. So, who knows what the outcome will be.

It won't matter for us, babe, since we don't use the exit, seeing as how we're coming from so nearby we don't use the highway. We're only on back roads and such for our few minute trip.
Besides, they were working on the exit last year and you and I went on opening day and there was virtually no traffic. Maybe the work on the exit was keeping all the folks who were on the highway from jamming up that last road. So...sucks for them...works for us. :P ;)

3 DAYS!!!
So little time, and still so many decisions to make.....like what to wear: cappa or surcoat, great helm or Norman, kite or heater, white with red or black with white? And don't even get me started on "
Honey.....does this sword belt make me look fat?"
I did manage to get the six special favors completed.... ;D
warrior what is taking you so long to decide my friend.
i got all dressed up last saturday morning to make sure it all went together nicely which i believe it did.
i change something on my costume every year.
as for my entourage i'm not sure about at this moment. one may or may not come or meet us another isn't sure the husband is going to baby sit and she doesn't want to drag the two toddlers so look for me weather or not i have anyone with me is apparently up in the air
I am right there will all of the rest of you on getting garb ready. I even played hookie from work this morning to sew. Shame on me. Lets hope I get it done enought to wear Saturday. I start driving in 28 hours!!! Please let us have clear skies and temps in the mid 70s.

I can't believe its just THREE DAYS away! :D
Yeaaaaaa if you spot me please do speak I can be a little shy and don't remember all who is suposed to come
I'll try to speak up if I see you pass by Crimson Chain.
I am horrible at recognizing folks or names, etc. I hope I don't seem rude if I look at someone funny and make a fool of myself. fairieimp- I think you assisted Eric and me last season at Son of Sandler. Sadly, I was not able to save up enough funds for a pair. Boo.

I seem to recall there were folks with a similar issue and it being discussed here last year... but I'm not sure where. I'll see if I can find it...
Also, it looks like GA's Rain-Just-And-Only-On-Days-You-Want-To-Do-Something-But-Only-During-GARF-Season is off to a great start. Lots of rain expected through Fri.,
all night Fri night/Sat. morn, not stopping until probably around 8am-ish. So...only after it's turned the entire place into a heaving mud pit. >:(
All the curse words in existence verbalized louder than anything this universe has ever experienced still do not suffice.
Oh Good! I also have trouble recognizing people and remembering names! But I've been studying hard and I think I'm ready!
I did the BOGO thing and had no trouble, not sure how to tell you what you did incorrectly tho, if anything.
ok what i understand looking at Garenfest.com is you go into the purchase tickets online then it gives you several options the last should be the 2for1
tell them you want one that should get you both in on one ticket
There is a selection for opening weekend tickets as I recall. I just bought 1/2 of what I needed and expect them to double it at the gate when I turn in my printed sheet.
As for the mud... NO NO NO... I won't have it. I just put a ribbon gard on the hem of my dress and I don't want to drag it through the mud and have to do it all again when I get home! thinking I may need to bring a light shawl for the mornings.
And everyone who doesn't use their real name on the boards ... well, don't be surprised if I call you by your board name then! Or just say, " I think I know you!" and give you a hug!

Lady Amy, perhaps you should retain possession of that "bum" roll. As I understand their use, if you double stack them :P, you might actually raise the lower end of your attire from trailing in the mud. ;D And aren't you traveling with a Scot? Don't they love mud? ;)
Mud- it builds character
Mud-it's what's for Renfest
I'll be there both tomorrow and Sunday this weekend with my boyfriend (it'll be his first time at a Ren. faire. We made matching costumes).
And I won't be going this weekend. My Spaniard is out of town racing sailboats and I have a luncheon to make an appearance at on Saturday. Enjoy and I'll see everyone another weekend! :)
We are here and checked in at the hotel! Already bumped into one freindly and familiar face! Hope to see more soon. Someone please turn off this rain!!
The tornado siren just went off, or maybe it was to warn of the severe storm coming through, but this rain has got to stop. Looks like it should clear up by the time faire opens. Hope the grounds are not horrible flooded or excessively muddy. We are still planning on making it, and we are hoping to be chipper considering neither Eric or I will have had much sleep. Eric's out on the roads working as I type. Boo.
Hope all are sleeping sounds. Hopefully we will see you soon. :)
Aaaahh witness the power of prayer. Weather looks to be good now. Will miss opening gate, but will arrive before noon. Pax vobiscum pilgrims and friends.

LOVE IT! And it worked!!! :)
The weather was amazingly beautiful!!! Opening day was pleasant minus the fact that Eric and I hardly made it through the day with NO SLEEP what-so-ever. By the end of the day, Eric had been awake over 26 hours, and I had been awake over 36 hours. Boo. No sleep equaled the grumps, but over all the day was sweet. I really wish the faire was open earlier and later into the evening. I need more than seven hours of the time warp experience.

Manriel did you walk up to me and speak and keep going?

Oh We had soooo much fun. It was amazingly beautiful sunshine and so comfortabel to be in garb. Looks like it is going to be a terrific year! I saw: Aavid, Lady Christina, Bama and his bride, LadyHawkontheHill and Jim, fairieimp and Sean, and so many more new freindly faces. Can not wait to come back with Sarah for closing weekend. It was great seeing everybody I was able to speak to. It was a completely different feel working instead of just wandering around.
-WM I believe I saw you pass by a couple of times but it seemed like I was with a customer on both occasions.
-Amy it was lovely talking to you as always.
-Lady Christina it was good to see you again and be sure to stop by if you come back out.
-Eric and Bittersweetheart I think y'all came into our shop but I may be mistaken, if you come back out be sure say hello. You may have to knock me upside the head, but please use something soft.
-Avidd, good to see you as always and I'll let you know if/when we decide on LaRF.
-Meg we'll see you next weekend, maybe we will have more time to chat then.
Also for anyone I missed and any one else who comes out, my wife and I are in the Crimson Chain shop most of the day and both of will have our R/F pins on. She is easy to find since she's the only female working the booth and usually has her pin at the cleavage level. Mine is pretty much always at the belt buckle level. So look for us and get our attention, we both love to talk.

Yes, WM! Huge glaring pink elephant missing in my list!!! You were a most illusive cat to catch this weekend and I failed miserably!
BWAHAHA.. I just saw Bama's "cleavage and belt buckle" comment. Funny! and here all this time I have been looking at their faces!
amy don't feel bad apparently you can spend the whole day on the opposite side of the faire from someone and never see them.

I was so happy to get to see everyone on Saturday!
Bama, I will see you kast weekend as Bella the troll! you won't miss her!
Manwriel, It was nice to meet you! Finally, the face to go with the wonderful pictures!
Lady Amy, LOVE the new garb!! see you REALLY soon!!!
Lady Christina, I never got to see you this year, boo! will you be back?
WM, how the carp do I keep missing seeing you?? I donno!
Avidd, good to see you again, I will see you in just a few short weeks!!!! yay! do you happen to have any good pics?
So,,,, well, me and the honey were on the way from southern middle TN when, 'round about Rockmart, GA at 12 midinght Friday, we realized he forgot his boots!!! Crap!!! Good Noble Garb is nothing without boots! wellm he never had Ren boots anyway, just Civil WAr cavalry boots that stood in.... soooo. he says to me " I can't go in looking like this" I told him, "just slip on your work boots, and we three in hoops will hide you till you get to Sandlar" oh no, he wouldn't have it!! He puts on regular clothes saturday, walks down to Sandlar, selects a pair and dresses at the car! LOL!
I just think it was an excuse to get those Sandlars he's been drooling over for a year!
Lady Catherine i'm sorry i missed you as well. I hope to come back around memorial day but i don't know if i will or not
Long drive home yesterday, had lots to see and do whilst in Atlanta. It was wonderful seeing Amy and Fairieimp and Lady Christina de Pond. Managed to miss Warrior Monk all day, and I see I wasn't the only one who missed him! I'm so sorry I missed Avidd but Jim thinks he saw him (I get distracted very easily at faire...). The weather was perfect! Unfortunately the HOUR we sat in traffic a mere 8 miles from the faire didn't help much, so the plan to catch everyone before entering the gates was laid waste...
Good to hear that everyone made it home safely. I must say though, that most of you really need your vision checked. How does one miss a 6'6" Warrior Monk in white with a big red cross (some might say target) on his chest. Not to mention a large black and white shield? :o ???
We plan to attend again on the 30th of April for the day. ;D
BTW-M'lady LadyHawkeontheHill (dang that's a text full) I still have your pilgrim's favor. I believe on the Lady de Pond was able to receive hers. :D Of course she would not have seen me either, had it not been for my using stealth skills acquired in the Outremer to sneak up on Saracens, to suprise her and company at the opening gate! ;D
I am still enjoying thinking about this weekend at faire and can't wait to come back for closing weekend. I only took a couple pictures as I too am easily distracted at faire and I forget I have a camera. But here are my couple best.

Lady Hawk!!!! OMG, THAT WAS you??? ir was a pleasure to meet you!!
alas WM and lady christina, i will not be returning till closing weekend. :'( we (TNRF) only have two weekends till opening gate, and a trollop has to prep! ;)
will anyone be joining us at TN this year? be sure to syop be the fairy glen and say hi! Rubella will also be traveling to closing weekend at GARF!
It was I! Amy informed me that was indeed you and you were gone by the time I realized such.
WM, I saw Lady Christina's wondrous favor and would love to claim my own. What other faires do you plan on visiting? I might do TN, not sure yet.
I must have missed everyone. I am just no good with faces, plus Eric and I had NO SLEEP the night before faire. We had a blast, but the day went by extremely blurry and fast. The weather was amazing!!!
We will be back on Easter Sunday with our little one, Jos. Also, Eric and I should be there May 1st as well.

I would need a good knocking too. I think we passed by Crimson Chain a couple times, but never stepped in. Sorry. Will do next time. :) We didn't even make it through the entire grounds, for some odd reason.
Yes I know I am somewhat bereft of sight, but even I could not miss the warrior monk, As he says, 6'6", all in white with a red crosshair on him, a snipers dream. In any event my goodly wife and I and friends from the Wisconsin faires and MNRF area will be visiting there this weekend. For those that are of a like mind let us set aside and area that is familiar to all and meet there.
I have a late block of instruction with the lads here on Friday, but we hope to make it up there on Saturday for opening. I'm going incognito this time. I will sport the habit of a Hospitaller Brother. ;)
