Now that Bristol has closed its gates for the season, time to start thinking about
Stronghold! This year the faire is October 4 and 5th. Get your hotel reserved early if you're planning on going, camping is available on-site only for participants.
Dayna
Plan to go both days, first day with friends, then on Sunday with Steve. Unilady, I'd love to see you there.
Let's plan to set up a meet & greet when it gets closer, as it seems there may be several forum members there.
I love that idea, I'll be there both days as well along with The Mighty War Rat and the wee Peace Mouse who I don't believe you met. Looking forward to seeing you again!
Dayna
I'll be visiting Stronghold at least one day and possibly both days. I'd love to hook up for a Meet & Greet since I have no responsibilities at Stronghold to keep me from anything like I did at Bristol.
Margrett
Consider it done, there will be a Meet and Greet both days of Stronghold. In the grassy area across from the castle entrance, 1 p.m. both days, look for the woman with the chihuahua.
Dayna
I'm going to try to attend, if funding allows.
I'll be there with most of my family. Schedule permitting (I'm performing with two different groups this year) I'll join you at the castle.
Well, as it turns out, I will be there with a celtic group demonstrating, so I don't know about timing for a meet & greet. We'll see how things go, as I don't know yet how much time I'll be walking around and how much demonstrating.
Margrett
I had plans of going here this year, after not going the past 4, but will now be at the Ohio Ren Faire that weekend instead.
Sir Clisto
Margrett, I'm a participant too, just received the invitation yesterday! I'll be beading and embroidering anything else of a garb-beautifying nature. I think we can sneak away for 1/2 an hour.
Dayna
BUMP!!!
Don't forget, Stronghold is This Weekend, YIPPEE!!!!!
Come see me bead, come see my chihuahuas, come see me bead my chihuahuas (you think I'm joking?)!
Dayna
Will there be a lot of folks there on Saturday? I was planning on going with several friends, but they all backed out. I feel funny to go alone, and wanted to know if there is going to be a RF group to hang out with?
It looks like Cheri and I will be there on Saturday. That's the plan as of now, at least...
Renee darlin, I'll be there Both Days, as will many people from Bristol, so please do come on Saturday, I promise you won't be lonely OR bored, I'll make it my personal mission to see that you're entertained.
Dayna
Unilady, thank you. That's so sweet. Unfortunately, I've been roped into helping out at a charity function on Saturday, so my plans for Stronghold now will only include Sunday, along with Steve. So we will be sure to find you on Sunday. However, I've looked at the weather report and it says rain for Sunday, and I'm sure hoping that's wrong.
Change in plans...we'll be there on Sunday.
Renee, I'm with the Celts, we have a tent, and a fire, and two furry little radiators named Nixie and Gremlin. Look for us in the flats below the castle.
Dayna
Had a completely wonderful time today at Stronghold. It was great to see unilady and friends, both human and furry. And Dustin and Cheri, and Merry Measure and lots of our Bristol friends.
We didn't take a camera, so I hope Dustin will post his pictures (I know he took them cause he took one of the 4 of us -- unilady was out wandering with her pup when we went to her booth to take the picture).
Ahh... 'twas fun times indeed.
Here are Cheri, myself, Lady Renee and Lord Stephen:

For anyone in the Illinois/Iowa/Southern Wisconsin/Western Indiana area (and those from afar, too): This is one of the most fun small faires in the area. There are a lot of performers from Bristol, so you get top-notch entertainment, but due to the smaller venue, it is much more laid-back and relaxed. You will also find a lot more interaction with the cast and musicians here, too. It's almost like you were sitting in a friend's back yard and people started jamming.
But the quality of the shows and the merchants is first rate, even though the faire is small, that doesn't mean it's honkey tonkey. It's definitely worth a trip.
Thanks, Dayna, for bumping up this thread. If anyone shows up, you can't help but running into everyone else, so make sure to come up and introduce yourself! ;D
I'll be there again this year as well.
Margrett
Margrett, will you be there as a patron or a worker? You, unilady (Dayna), and I should definitely try to meet. I will be there on Saturday with "the girls," and then again on Sunday with my husband, and another couple.
It's not a big faire, so we should run into each other, but it will be nice to meet and spend a few minutes with each other.
I will be there as a patron. If my new gown is done by then, I'll wear that (terra cotta brocade). But it probably won't be done as I am also working on a steampunk outfit for Windycon so can't focus on just the new gown. I'll post what I'll be wearing before that weekend.
Margrett
I'm there as a participant with the Celts, so I'll be down the hill on the right. Look for the wee chihuahuas, or if it's terribly cold look for the people with the lumpy laps because we'll be using the chihuahuas as hand-warmers. LOL
