November 1 & 2, 2008

Poway Valley Rider's Association, 13446 Tierra Bonita Road, Poway, CA

Amicis  prodesse, nemini nocere
To do good to my  friends, to injure no one

Triumphantly rising from the ashes of the wildfires which swept San Diego the week prior to the World Invitational Joust 2007, The Tournament of the Phoenix offers joust fans a weekend of excitement as top riders from the US, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand and Norway compete in tests of skill, courage and honour.

This is an actual competitive sporting event, not a staged show. Competitors wear full harnesses of shining steel plate armour and score points by breaking their 11-foot long lances on the shields of their opponents.

A reminder that this event is coming up fast, and is only 20 minutes from the Escondido Renaissance Festival, [which does not have jousting!]

More than just jousting, this is a real tournament- knights will compete in 7 events over 2 days which will test their horsemanship and prowess with the weapons of a medieval knight- lance, sword, pollaxe and tourney club.

More info, schedules, rules and a list of competitors at World Invitational Joust 2008 (http://www.worldjoust.com)
