Title: Loveland Castle Knight's Tourney Weekend
Post by: Ariyana the hugging wench on April 09, 2009, 09:19:29 PM
This coming weekend (yes it is taking place on easter weekend) is the first ever Knights Tourney weekend at Loveland castle, In Loveland, Ohio. www.lovelandcastle.com
There will be entertainment (The pickle brothers this saturday and the saturday in May as well! plus others to be announced.I hear rumors of possibly Minstrel Woode at some point in the future!)  there will be vendors and fun for everyone. Admission is only $3 but donations to the castle are always gratefully accepted!
This is the description ina direct quote from our Own Sir Humphrey, the organizer of the event...
"on the second weekend of april (the 11th and 12th) my idea for fighting the depression start. it is called the Knight's Tourney. it is a fund raiser without being a fund raiser. the second weekend of each month, april through september,  we are having a "mini faire". we open at 10 am and close at 6pm. we will have entertainment.....ie music, comedy and even swordfighting comedians that want to sing. also present will be various vendors some you may know, some you may not. we also will have some historical re=enactors around doing demonstrations. we wont have food or drink, but we have a great public picnic area (kiss off symmes township).......all for the normal price of admission to the castle, 3 bucks.   the shows will be hourly starting at 11am going til 5pm"
The knights of the Golden Trail will be doing the first show of the day and for beginers it is pretty good and even funny!

I plan to be there all this weekend and most of all the other scheduled weekends as a volunteer and whatever they need me to do! Come get some hugs!! Nurianna, the gypsy face painter,  will be there Saturday! Pirates Treasure and Journeyman leather are just 2 of the vendors I have heard about!

They will be doing this the 2nd saturday of every month May through September. (they have canceled doing it sundays at this point.)

Ariyana the hugging wench who wants you to come play at the castle with her!

We went yesterday and it was a lot of fun.  Weather was perfect.  Captain Humphrey and Sir Fred were their usual great hosts.  Good shows by Pickle Brothers, Greyhound rescue group and the Knights of the Golden Trail.  I know today is Easter but if you have any free time and are in the area stop by.

Reminder... the next Loveland Castle Knight's tourney is a week from tomorrow!

Make your plans now! Who is going to come play with us on Saturday, May 9th?

For reference, The Pickled Brothers and Minstrel Woode will be performing.. ok well Travis.. and Jeff or Rowan. so half of each.. we just might have ourselves a wooden pickle? lol or maybe a Dill E of a day...? yeah I know bad jokes lol..

Plus we will have the ancient hounds, and the Knights themselves who now have 2 possible shows to perform! and I will be there.. at the front gate even to take your admission, stamp your hand and welcome you to the Castle! Bring a picnic and come stay for the day! All this for a bargain price of $3 each!
And we will have even more vendors than last time!

See you then!

Cher, I still say I never once caught him doing that.. are you sure you guys aren'ty just making it up?? lol.. though the stories of how he might have been walking in the parking lot were priceless and made me laugh so darn hard.

It was a most wonderful day at the castle (even when you weren't there yet lol) and dinner after was just a blast. The combo of people we had there were a true treasure of humor and enjoyment...
Glad you and mom and dad made it... though I still say next time, dad has to sashay in front of the admission desk more in the kilt lol! *wink*

ahh all in all a most wonderful day... filled with many people I truly enjoy spending time with...

so who is going to come up and visit us and stay to play for the next one??? June 13th people, June 13th.. mark your calenders now!

A reminder that the 3rd Loveland Castle Knight's tourney Saturday is coming up on June 13th, 2009!
We will have vendors and entertainment and well.. me! lol
This month we have Tanner. Yes Tanner is putting on the tights (sigh) for the Castle! Tanner will be performing original and traditional story-songs, ballads and instrumental music.
The knights will do a few shows (they have several different ones under their belt now and are good, come see!) and the ancient hounds show with rescued greyhounds and there are rumors of other entertainment surprises to come!
All this plus the beautiful grounds and wonderful castle for the very low price of $3 a person! Come hang out with us at the castle!
The Knight's Tourney will take place during the normal operating hours of the castle 11 am until 5 pm.
Come see the castle!
For future planning purposes the remaining Knight's tourney dates for the year are:
July 11th (We might have Tanner back again! I for one am crossing my fingers!) plus other's to be announced. (though if you are planning to come mainly to see me I might not be present at the July Knight's tourney, just a warning... starting to sound like I have a personal commitment that I will have to attend instead)
August 8 Rumors are we have Minstrel Woode and the Pickled Brothers again!
September 12 this month we are also rumored to again have the pickled Borthers and Minstrel woode. Check this site or the castle website for updates!

Windhawke,
I will double check tonight, but I am pretty sure that there is something going on at the castle afterwards that we have to clear out for. But we have been known on those occasions to go out somewhere afterwards to all eat together. (as Cher alluded too, last time we went to Ihop and had a great time) Should you come visit us, we would be happy to have you join in whatever plans may be made.
I know that a few of the upcoming months are reserved for us to hang out at the castle and relax afterward. I will double check the calander again tonight and update on those nights.. still hopeing to see lots of you come visit for the rest of the Knight's tourneys .

Oh sweetie I enjoyed it too. It was just that parts weren't filtering into my brain right which was another sign it was time to leave. Today I am finally starting to feel like me again. This whole can't handle heat thing is most annoying.. and I don't think I had any hot flashes on Saturday (Those make it soo much worse)
Breena was asleep before we got to the road to go up. I had predicted by the top of the hill but she didn't even make it to the hill.. and slept through a trip upstairs, getting undressed, washed up some, put in jammies and tucked into her bed! and she slept until 9:30 in the morning. She was way beyond burned out that day
{{{hugs}}} till we see you again...

Hey guys, just an update... the upcoming July 11th Knight's tourney, we have the castle afterwards for the night after all (as well as the August 8th date)

For entertainment, July 11th will be JAM PACKED!!
We will have Tanner and Friends, Plus our own Knights, Plus the ancient hounds, Plus a pirate comedy and fighting show (and possibly some piratical music as well!) and a Fabulous Jester most recently seen at the Arizona faire! I am thinking there might even be more than I am listing, perhaps our own Sir Humphrey will pop in and add in any I may have missed?
It may turn out to be a day with music around the corners and comedy and action filling our garden , plus the lovely drop by performances up front by the gate (because we must keep our gate workers happy and entertained! ;))
We will also be visited by those from the "future" aka a local steampunk gathering. They just add to the fun!

Hoping to see MANY of you there!!! Remember still only $3 a person for all this fun!

dearest Ariyana and all, me's just want'd to lat all know that me Belle and me will be go'n to see the Knights tournament and other fest'tivities on Aug.8th, this come'n Sat. we hope to be there most of the day (well, our next fest'n will not be until the third weekend of OHRF, the R/F Invasion. that seems a long way off since we just finish'd a two month run at KYHRF.  ;D ).
this will be our first visit to the "Castle" that is not a "Castleteer Gather'n". we plan to get a more in-depth look at each and every room of the "Castle" ( "Castleteer Gather'ns seem to always keep us busy do'n other things at the "Castle".  :o  ), along with see'n our Knights preform. Garb'd as always, we can not wait to see our "Captain", and pay our respects to him and the Knights for all they do for me Belle and me.

There is even rumor of a pub sing of sorts! Plus we will have time travelers from the future as some steampunk friends come to picnic and relax in the gardens. And let's not forget our wonderful vendors!
That's a whole lot of wonderful entertainment for your $3!

Remember we do not have any real food available, there is water and pop for sale, a possibility fo some baked goods or fruits as well. But the grounds are perfect for a picnic and food is available just up the hill and you can some in and out the gate as you wish once you have paid and had your hand stamped!

My apologies to everyone. The comment made by Laura in no way reflects my own true feelings. It was not authorized nor responsible. I personally started the gatherings in order to introduce the castle to an established group that, to me, seemed predisposed to the setting. And I believe it worked. Please accept my apologies, everyone, and please pay no attention to what others claim are my feelings.

Faire weather, no rain...

I just wanted to publicly apologize for causing trouble amongst the group. That was never my intent. I have really enjoyed meeting the people here that I have met and would never try to hurt any of you intentionally. I was in the wrong for posting what was not meant to be posted in public and I admit that and I again extend my sincere apologies. That is in no way my own opinion and I completely understand people with busy schedules and etc. I have a man, and children and a puppy and responsibilities all my own. So I know busy. This has torn at my heart and upset me more than I can tell you all week.
There is no real excuse for my not thinking enough when I posted, I should have gone with my first instinct not to post that night as I was tired and not clear minded...
in my not good enough defense...I can only say I have been very tired of late and the last 2 months have not been good one for me... my dad died may 24th... I know I am not handling that overly well, then we got some medical issues with Breena that have required many worries and many hassles trying to get her into the dr's etc... and while one has been cleared up the other still exists... and is still ongoing and it seems I have obstacles in my way everytime I try to get things moving on figuring it out and solving it sigh. add in a new puppy and my brain is so not working right...

again I apologize and offer hugs to anyone who may want them. If you shose to not talk to me.. I understand that too
Sorry, Ariyana

I can't wait to see everyone Saturday. ;D
This is one of the few things I have done that did not involve a Dr or hospital or tests being ran.
I just can't wait. ;D
Surgery may ruin ORF for me but at least I have the Castle to hobble around at , even if I have to be in a wheelchair I'm still gonna try to wonder around to see the gardens in full bloom.

What a wonderful day it turned out to be, despite the heat and humidity. The Knight's did awesome shows that the audience seemd to enjoy quite a bit. The other performances were great. The music was beautiful. The vendors had booths full of wonderful things... and the hugs and the smiles and the fun made the heat more than bearable for all.
Thank you to the castleteers who came by to visit and see the shows... we had 9 of you that I can recall faces for...  and I am unsure of a few names, this late at night, so I shall not list them not wanting to miss anyone, just ask for a roll call! (that way I can remember the names better if I see them written!)
But the hugs were magnificent, Thank you all for the love you show to all of us and the castle. You are all wonderful, even of you were not there saturday!
Hoping to see you all before too long!
Ariyana

I want to take the time to personally thank each and every one of you, who have taken it into your hearts to take part of the Castles History and help make the future a greater place for all at the Chateau La Roche.  I have seen the Castle change throughout the years and this year has been an exceptional one. It is with the greatest pleasure to have come back to my Castle after so many years and see the many great things taking place. It is with your many efforts and volunteering that makes all the events grand. Thank you again, and to Captain Humphrey a great HAZAAAA!!!!!
