Title: Opening day!
Post by: Rogue Hidesmith on July 22, 2011, 09:41:33 AM
I'm making a trip to the faire with my friend Kimmy this year for opening day. Anyone else going? I'd totally be down for a meetup :)

W00t! I've only been there once, so can someone suggest a meeting time & place for a meetup?

Well, if you're there early, there's always Opening Gate or the dim bulb & Bull Pub right after the gates open. (It's the closest pub to the gate--near the Music Pavilion). Any other suggestions?

I don't think we'll make it by gate open. We'll be driving 6 hours with a 1 year old, so we're likely to have several unexpected stops.

A little later in the day, say around noon or 1 should work.

Hiya!

Something I thought some folks here might enjoy.  NYRF is now sporting a pub crawl twice daily.  Five pubs, five beers, 75-90 minutes.  Your own entertainment and tour.  Costs extra, of course, but there's a special pewter pin I believe you also get.

Ok, let's meet up at the C0ck & Bull Pub at 10:30.  I don't have a RF pin, so I'll be looking for those who do. Or Goody, I know what she looks like :)

Woo I can't wait for next weekend :) I think I'm going to do the pub crawl too.

That's only what's included in the price. ;D  If those on the tour want to partake in more beverages during that time, not one person will stop them. :)

I kinda figured that. I'd need at least 5 beers at each pub.
30 shcarroles for 5 beers is about right if you include tips.
What times are you guys going to have the tours?

Check at the Info Booth when you sign up.  They'll be a sign.  Starts at the dim bulb & Bull Pub which should also have a sign.  We're thinking 12:00 or 12:30 and 3:00 or 3:30.

Hmmm. That may interfere with some shows I want to catch. Might have to do my own crawl. We shall see.

No need. Just look for people in black that look like they're looking for someone.  ;D

The wife and I will be at both Crimson Pirates shows if that helps. Just look for the tall guy in black with a short girl with a red top and black bottom.

No name tags for us.

Thanks guys!!!  We would also recommend you stopping by our friends and visiting music act from Maryland Gael in the Harbor.  They are only in for one weekend and are worth the visit!!!

Weather looking pretty decent for opening day! Crimson Pirates, yes!! we will definitely look for the visiting musical act also that Robin spoke of.

For good laughs, the Wacky Chicken show is on the must see list. Stewart and Arnold, Ded Bob and Washer girls.

Rogue Hidesmith..good travels with the little one.  LF

Almost time! The weather's looking good too--low 80s with a 30 percent chance of thundershowers in the afternoon. Not bad at all!! See you all there. Huzzah!!

I'd prefer a 0% chance of thunderstorms, but I'll take it ^_^

Depends what weather site you go to. Accu weather says 11% chance of t-storms and weather.com says 40% chance.

I'm in Brooklyn and they said thunderstorms all week. We had 1 the other night otherwise it's been sunny if not a bit hazy/overcast.

Sorry Goody, I was there but must have missed you.  :( I won't be there Sunday but maybe you'll make another visit later in the season?

Rogue--it was good to meet you and your family! I hope you guys didn't get stuck in the rain and had a safe journey home. If I can fit in a trip to PARF this season, I'll let you know!

It was good to meet you too Bob! I owe you a beer, so definitely let me know if you can make it down :)

Sorry I didn't run into anyone else either :( I knew I should have made a sign ;)

I thought I saw Goody, I didn't see a name tag so, I wasn't sure. We were there all day and through the rain. We had a great time!
I was hanging around the Guild hall, went to both Crimson Pirates shows, both chess matches, and both jousts.
And had lots and lots of beer!

We'll be back there on the 20th or 21st. Can't go this weekend.

Kiddo was a trooper :) Sat through the entire chess game in the pouring rain clapping and laughing at the match!

Great shot of Ari, Rogue! He is a trooper if he lasted 'til the end and shrugged off the rain. I think you got yourself a rennie-for-life there!  :)

Oh, and I'll take you up on that beer next time we meet.  ;)
