Post by: DonaCatalina on February 23, 2009, 02:24:36 PM
When will the entertainment list be updated on the website?

My understanding is that they elected to work with the same cast as last year, so, well, it doesn't need updating

I do not think that is quite right.  I know for certainty of at least one new act not listed in either the entertainment or the daily schedule.  I've been watching it to see when the new performance schedule will be put up as well.

Cast is the same as last year with a few that are sitting out the season for personal reasons.  However there are at least three new acts performing this year and one old one that is not returning.  In the past they have up dated the schedule some time in March.

But there are also a few cast members from last year that are new characters for this year...

We will be updating performers in the next few days.  We just got the final information.  Schedule should go up then as well.

Harrah!  Lord Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk aka Bill Teel History, Customs and Manners lecture is not only on the schedule but we have a stage! The Lecture is one of my favorite activities at Faire.  Wish more faires would do something like this.

But the Scottish court isn't listed that is disappointing hope that doesn't mean there will be no court.

The archery tournament is also not listed and that is a great disappointment too.  We need to keep the tournament going to honour Master Liam Hunter aka Kevin Zody, a fine archer and a good friend.

As far as the Scottish Court, it is still going on.
There has not been any noise to the negative of that.

Not sure who will run the Archery Tournament.
(again, have not heard anything) That was Zody's baby.

But, yes! The History, Customs and Manners had such a FANTASTIC turn out that this year they really get to teach, and there will be more seating.

Customs and Manners class was a big hit with the few people who knew about it. I hope they have some kind of PA so they can be heard.

I did not hear about that.  I would love to attend something like that.  I've read a million books at this point on the era and so I do know tons, but learning more is always well worth the effort!

Christophe will not be there opening weekend   :(

Oh well...as disapointing as that is to find out, I guess that means I will have to make it out to more weekends when he is there!  lol  ;D

I saw that, won't be the same with out those "fun" ladies. I saw where a few others are only there part of the season.

It's actually been the Armoury for a while.  And as a reminder to everyone, PLEASE refrain from smoking around this building!!!  That's one reason there is a fence around it.  (If you want opening, noon and closing cannon, there has to be storage somewhere... hint, hint...)

It's not made public knowledge, so don't go yelling it from the treetops, but please ask fellows you might see or know not to smoke there, and to put out butts in appropriate areas...

You know, it looks like I could almost spend my whole day going back and forth between the Hightower Square
and the White Horse.

Here are a few of the recent books I've read that I like:  The First Elizabeth by Erickson was very long and in depth and seemed to be extremely accurate.  I just finished another book Elizabeth I, CEO : Strategic Lessons from the Leader Who Built an Empire by Axelrod which is very interesting.  It's all about Elizabeth as a leader and how to follow her example as a modern leader, there is a ton of history in it too! Children of Henry 8th by Allison Weir is also excellent, though it has none of Elizabeth's reign in it.

Looked up the daily schedule...got to plan the day out- get in as much as possible to show my faire virgin sister...
well, broke out the pink highlighter, started highilghting everything I want her to see...screw that- the whole page is pink now!
Ugh...must come up with better planning method.

Only good thing is that we will be there a full weekend, so what we don't hit the sat, we will get to make on sunday.

I've never been to any of the pubs- and since my friend owes me a few drinks due to lost bets...I shall be adding those to the long list.
Does anyone have a preffered pub show?

My two favorites are the White Horse in the crown meadow and the Alehouse/LadyHawk in the Peacan Grove.  LadyHawk would be good choice since you could kill two birds with one stone.  Collect on your bets and keep your sister red listening to  Iris and Rose songs and Christophe doing insults.

Oh the picture on your profile was it taken at Four Winds?

Thank you for the info Bear.  I have that noted down!

Yup :) That picture was taken at Four Winds.  I met you that weekend.  I had my girls with me that day, but they won't be with me the weekend I bring my sister.
Yes, Iris and Rose are already highlighted!  I have never seen Christophe, so I am looking forward to that.

Julessweetie-  I hear you on that...I am looking at my calandar trying to decide what all days I can make it out.
Unfortunately this year I said I would help direct children's theater- not realizing that it eats up my weekends.  Next year- I say screw the theater and on with the faire!
Maybe one year I will have a free enough schedule to be a FOF.

My favorite pub show has always been Jim Hancock at the Kings Pub.  Although the bungee jumping monstrosity and the screaming parents it attracts has almost ruined the pub!

Amen Brother!
Another reason we've drifted towards the White Horse.

I have always thought the Bungee Jump would make great target practice.  You know, gets you ready for moving targets in the hunt...

Seeing the new pub and that there were going to have tables out front and back and given were the highland games have been held in the past I though to could make for an interesting drinking highland game compentation.  Can you down the beer before the caber lands on the table.

Ahh!! What a scary thought.  :o

A bale so bad on a caber that is lands on the Pub's tables..

Oh! We have Girls Highland Games on Sundays this year.

Yea for the woman.  It was great having them compete with us last year glad to see them back even if I can't compete this season.

I wasn't thinking of baling more like Highland bowling with cabers.  Score for rotation and tables.  Drinkers get extra points for finishing beer before the caber arrives.

While its great seeing our faire grow so much, heard they scheduled 23 constructions projects this pass year, it is starting to feel a little crowded.  Standing in front of the Crown stage this past Sunday I was think it wasn't really that long ago was it that I could stand here and see to the front gate and watch the dog hearding show.

I miss the sheep herding show, too. The site grows and improves each year. I think you will be pleased with the final results for sure. A number of the construction projects may also have been repairs or improvements to exisiting structures.

I noticed a number of ventors seem to have imporved their both.  I was really taken by the barrel shop it looked totally period and perfect in place for a port city like Scarborough.  We also have a really cool new archery range a full 40 foot I'm sure I'll feel Liam looking over me shoulder when I shoot there.  But its amazing when you look back and remember when this was an open field and the mut pit was over there etc.
