Title: Scotchgard...?
Post by: Andunie on May 18, 2008, 09:48:48 PM
A quick question: Recently I have been wondering about the applications of water repellents like Scotchgard. What surfaces should I not use them on? I've been debating applying it to acrylic paint, as a sealant. I haven't tested it yet so I don't know what to expect. Has anyone tried using Scotchgard on paint? Thanks!

Scotchgard on paint works well. It won't dilute colors on acrylics, since acrylics are a type of plastic, but can with other types of paints.

That's a relief to hear. I'll be trying it then.
And oil-based paint markers? Will it affect them?

No need to worry about weatherproofing oil-based products. The oil in them already does that for you.  ;)

Ha. Okay, great.
Though I might have thought about that first...
