Thank you Lady Joyce Ann  :)

Regarding hotel rooms.........I was going to try to determine if there is any interest in that. There is a Hampton Inn across the street. I am planning on staying there - but they can be expensive. However, they do have a group rate so if we can get enough interested I think I can get us the group rate. I think we need 15 rooms reserved to get group.

Everyone let me know - sooner than later. Rooms for faire tend to sell out quick and WAY ahead of time. So if we are going to get a block of rooms I should do it very soon. It might even be too late now - all I can do is try. But I need to know soon.

Also, tailgating is prohibited on faire grounds so tailgate will most likely be in the parking lot of the Hampton. I will be able to give more details as the date gets closer.

I just cancelled all my rooms at the Hampton for this season - they priced me right out of the joint at $200 - $300 a night. I am now booked in the new Homewood Suites in Lancaster for $70 a night for a 2 beedroom suite 6 miles from faire. Much better.

Interesting. I'll have to check hotels.com again. When I checked a couple of weeks ago they would give me a room at $136.

Group rate should be much less as well. I'll check on it.

The Homewood Suites sounds good, if we can get a block of rooms there......

OK - I'll check on that too. Let me see if I can find them online.

Scottsman - do you have their phone number handy?

Homewood Suites:
200 Granite Run Dr
Lancaster, PA
717-381-4400

My rate, now that I look at it was $95 ... I was thinking of GLMF.

Yeah - I just looked it up on Hotels.com and the rate there is $169. They show it "from $95" but when I click on it the lowest price is $169.

Is that $95 your government rate?
Title: Re: M'Crack Family Gathering at PARF 2009
Post by: Lady de la Warr on June 03, 2009, 09:10:03 AM
There's a Country Inn Suites literally right down the road from faire - closer than Homewood Suites - for $139 per night.

Again - the Hampton on Hotels.com is $136.

Honestly, unless you have a government ID and can get govvie rates - I don't think we are going to be able to do any better. Not on those dates. Those hotels around faire always jack up prices during the faire's run.
Title: Re: M'Crack Family Gathering at PARF 2009
Post by: Scotsman on June 03, 2009, 09:30:05 AM
Yeah ... Gov rate  ;D

Guardn' you have a Gov Id, you can get the rate!
Title: Re: M'Crack Family Gathering at PARF 2009
Post by: Lady de la Warr on June 03, 2009, 09:54:16 AM
Right.

Thing is, I can probably get the rate too. But they may ask to see the govvie ID (I get asked for it every time). So I won't be able to get govvie rate for a block of rooms.

I have left a message at the Hampton to have the manager call me back. I'm going to at least check and see what the group rate would be.

The Homewood is further from faire than 6 miles - its twice that at 12 miles.

The Country Inn & Suites is 7 miles from faire and is on the same street (Lancaster Road aka Rt 72).

One thing I have found Scotsman that sometimes hotels charge a HIGHER govvie rate. That happened to me in Cary, NC at the Quality Inn. I asked them if they had a govvie rate and they said yes and it's higher.

Figure that one out.

Just called Homewood and they said a 1 bedroom w/ 2 queen beds is 185.00 per nite. And for a gov. rate for the weekend you have to show that your there for work.???? So now what?
Title: Re: M'Crack Family Gathering at PARF 2009

Just got off the phone with the Hampton Inn:

I have reserved 20 rooms - half with a King bed and half with 2 doubles - for a group rate of $115 per night for both the 25th and 26th. I believe you can reserve for just the 26th - you'll have to ask when you call.

If you want the group rate you have to call and reserve  your room no later than August 25th. After that any rooms left will go back into the "pot" for $160/night.

When you call tell them you are with the group "The Clan M'Crack" - and want to reserve a room from their block of rooms. Yes I put it under the Clan's name - LOL!

You can call 717-665-6600 to reserve your room.

I daresay people - I think $115 is the best we are going to be able to do. And since the Hampton is right across the street I think a couple extra bucks is worth the convenience.

I think that's all the info you need but they are emailing me a confirmation with all the info so if I find I forgot something I'll post it.

I have already reserved my room since I already had them on the phone. Now all I need to do is set up the Friday/Saturday night meet and greet. I have a place right close to faire in mind - I just need to speak with management once I have an idea of how many we might have.

Folks - If you want in on the rooms at the Hampton you need to reserve them no later than tomorrow, August 25th. After tomorrow the rooms go back into the pool and are no longer reserved as a block at the group rate.

Just a reminder.

Well sadly unless the stars align properly m'lady and I will not be there as she is scheduled to work that weekend.   :'(  If however that changes we'll definitely be there!  As it stands right now, it looks like we might be arriving in PARF the previous weekend.

Milord, Sir Oswyn and I will be there the previous weekend as well - but only on the 19th. It is the weekend of our first wedding anniversary so we'll be at PARF Saturday and we are staying around home on Sunday.

So if you go Saturday we'll see you there.  :)

We'll definitely be there Saturday.  Sunday is up in the air depending on how my back is doing.  Sadly the paths there kill my back.  However I have new boot this year so it may not bother me as much.  Will have to see.

OK - time for an update. So this is who I have on the list that is coming so far......anyone else?

Jade'n M'Crack aka Lady De La Warr
Smack'n M'Crack aka Sir Oswyn Dagworth
Flattin M'Crack aka Scotsman
Alone'n M'Crack aka Lady Guinness
Whisper'n M'Crack aka Quiet One
Breeze'n M'Crack aka Lady Maerwynn
Snuggl'n M'Crack aka Lady Jai
Dark'n M'Crack aka TimT

I really need a head count so I can make arrangements for the activities listed below. So please let me know what - if any - activities you are planning to attend.

As far as the schedule here is what I'm thinking, keeping in mind this is all tentative.....

Friday:

Meet and Greet at Farmer's Hope Inn
3180 Lebanon Road
Manhiem, PA 17545
(717) 664-4673

I'm thinking starting around 6 - 7:00?

Those attending:

Jade'n aka Lady de la Warr
Smack'n aka Sir Oswyn Dagworth
Whisper'n aka Quiet One

Check out their web site for a menu and other info: http://www.farmershopeinn.com/

Route 72, 1/4 mile north of PA Turnpike exit 266

If you are leaving faire - turn right, go past the turnpike and it will be a little ways up on the left. It looks like an old stone farm house.

They have a lovely patio out behind the place that would be a nice area for us. I have spoken to management (a while back) and told them we are coming. I will follow up with them and remind them.

Saturday (tentative):

NOTE: Tailgating is not allowed in the parking lot at PARF. I am posting another thread to propose an alternate means of gathering Saturday morning.

9(ish): Breakfast at Kountry Kitchen (attendees will be listed in the breakfast thread)
11:00 - Canon
3:00 Chieftains Toast/Official introduction of Clan Patrick mascot, pinning of pets, group picture.

Saturday evening after faire we can go to Farmer's hope or we can find something else. Since I am not from that area I don't know everything that is in the vicinity but I can check with the Hampton Inn - then can usually suggest something if you don't want Farmer's Hope again

Sunday:

NOTE: Again, tailgating is not allowed in the parking lot at PARF. I am posting another thread to propose an alternate means of gathering Sunday morning.

11:00 - Canon
3:00 Chieftains Toast (if there is still anyone left)

I will most likely be leaving faire early to go home (probably around 4:00 or maybe earlier) as I have to work the next day and it's a 2 hour drive.

I realize this isn't very structured, but this is a new chapter so we are taking baby steps. Any suggestions for any activities are welcomed.

UPDATE: I spoke with Lairde Guard'n and he and Peddlin are not going to be able to make it up this weekend due to circumstances beyond their control. They will be terribly missed, but we will raise a pint to them in their absence.

It was brought to my attention that there are some pets coming this weekend who are looking forward to being pinned. I do want to assure any pets who are planning to attend and who are scheduled to be pinned that Scotsman and myself will still be pinning the pets scheduled for this weekend.

Lady Guinness and I will be there Saturday only.
We will try to make breakfast on Saturday morning, but that will depend upon the time.
We will not be attending Saturday nights events either ... we are just too wiped after faire to hit the town.

I'll be there for Friday nite dinner and both days at faire.  Since it is a real tight budget this trip, I'll have to skip the breakfast.

OK - that's cool. As far as breakfast, since canon is at 11 I was thinking we should meet for breakfast at around 9. That will give me time to eat, then get back and get dressed (there's no way I will be able to enjoy breakfast in a court gown).

Sound good?

Lady Joyce Ann - I am very sorry to hear you and Cherry'n cannot make it this time. I will take you off the list.

Lady Mikayla - I'm sad to hear of your work challenges. I don't know if anyone can accommodate you for a couple of nights or not. Dallas and I have a hotel room with only one bed - and we will not be staying Sunday night. We will be checking out Sunday morning. Anyway, let me know if you find out you can come. Meanwhile I will leave your name on the list - maybe it will create some positive energy that will get you here!

Thank-thee for thinking of me so kindly!  I am happy to have the work however with only being scheduled 3 days this month, 2 of those 1/2 days and both on this weekend... and the possibility of them not needing me on Sunday... I appreciate the positive energy!!!   :-*
