Title: Twig 2010
Post by: Goody on January 03, 2010, 07:25:28 PM
An excerpt of an email:

The first Open Meeting for the 2010 Olde World is scheduled for this next Saturday, Jan 9th,  from 1:00 pm through 4:00 pm at the Caribou Lake Elementary School. There are only two open meetings scheduled before the 2010 Olde World (the second will be in May), however Area Managers may be scheduling meetings for those that have volunteered in their areas.

Also, Fest Friends is having a workshop on May 1 with McGregor Games to learn how to play. I am hoping to get volunteers to host the medieval games tent that will be set up at Twig, so if you would like to do a shift there, you may indicate so on the volunteer application.

They can also use people for the childrens games. Right now they have some preteens that help out and this seems to be a fit so if ya have kids who might be interested in that area??

Goody,
I have to check with Nick to see if he is selling at Twig again this year.  If so, the girl and I will probably help him.  If not, I am sure we will be happy to help/volunteer in some way.  We also will probably be crashing in your looney tunes room or couch again-if that is okay with you.
This is all dependant on whether or not Betsy the car behaves too.

I have some Iron Rangers interested in participating but I didn't check the website before it had already passed. Do we have any idea when the May meeting will be? Or might there be another opportunity to meet in between?

I forgot to pass on that the faire has a theme this year!! They have chosen ROBIN HOOD.

I would love to, but didn't get to see the email about the meeting. Maybe because they didn't accept my contract last year *small fight over somethign small*. Do you have a date for the other meeting so I can share them with the rest of my group. We are down in the twin cities area, so try to make it up to them can be difficult especially when we don't hear about them.

Thanks

It is two days: June 12 & 13.    owrenfaire.com

What she may have heard is that it is  only ONE WEEKEND, where they were talking of possible having 2.

Just to let everyone know. There is apparently another meeting on May 1st. Apparently if you didn't work there last year you have to audition and this will be 1 of 2 audition times. The other is at the open meeting in Twig the following week.

To bad I can't make either one of those, so I probably won't be working there... I still think that even if you miss 1 year of the festival you shouldn't have to audition to get your spot back... oh well, their loss...
Title: Re: Twig 2010
Post by: Goody on April 11, 2010, 07:33:26 PM
I thought the reason for the audition was that too many had applied last year, but what do I know?

I had an absolutely lovely chat with the owners of Olde World today. Plans are coming along swimmingly! While they do regret having to make choices about the lineup at faire they are very excited about the new things that are being added this year. The theme is "Robin Hood," portrayed by Pat Franz. You can visit his website for more info.   www.patfranz.com
This is sure to add to the family-friendly fun!!

Also, the website has been updated so take a gander over at www.owrenfaire.com!

We'll be up there both days!  I was asked by the owners to be an official photographer for OWRF this year, so I'm a volunteer this year (but I still get to wander and do my thing, how cool is that?)

I have decided to pay my way in and be up there. I will be in my costume but as a paytron with a camera to play with. I am taking pictures of my friends in their costumes... doing their silly things, and if they peasants want any photos of special events they do I am willing to take those.... they can then have them for their website or whatever they would like to use them for...

I look forward to coming at my leisure and leaving when I like :) It will be nice being a paytron.

Bramblebush is the ONLY act my girls will sit through in entirety!  =)  (The lullabye is their favorite!)

Now to decide which garb to wear...  I love my new yellow gown but I think that the green gown I made for last year (when I was pregnant) would fit the theme/time frame better.  Decisions, decisions...

Makes me wish that I own wench wear!  And that I was at home so that I could find something to pass as wench wear.  Oh well, we'll make do with what we do have I guess!  On the upside, the weather is now supposed to be "ok."  50% chance of scattered showers in the afternoon.  Today sucks though, so we will be walking in a lake, I'm sure!  =P  Crazy weather in this Duluth area...  Well anyhoo, see you tomorrow and Sunday- rain or shine!  =D

If anyone with a little extra vehicle space Sunday is willing to take pity on me, and wouldn't mind the company, I'd love to go to faire and spend more time with friends. I don't think I'm quite up for that long drive on my own. If not, I wish everyone who makes it tons of fun and pleasant weather!

And you can't forget the Dragonflies!  Surreal how they come out by the thousands, flitter around until every mosquito is devoured, and retreat as quickly as they came...magical!  Most assuredly my favorite thing about Twig.

The dragonflies are always amazing.  We had a great time in spite of the weather, and it was fun to see everyone.  We spent some time at the back and front gate as part of the volunteer commitment, played bocce and also spent time playing games in the games' tent.

The vikings ended up with your tube of lipstick.... I wonder what they decided to do with it.

It was nice being up there. I didn't get to meet many people, but the wings were slightly more attractive than I thought... especially once I sprout another set of 4 to them....

It was really really informal - the green and white striped tent with the table and chairs right before the path to the joust.  The games were stashed under the table.
