Title: CRF 2010
Post by: Norfolk on January 16, 2010, 03:20:40 PM
A cheery little thought:  CRF 2010 opens 21 weeks from today!

So, anyone have any information they would like to share, or rumors they would like to mong, regarding the upcoming season?

I hear that there will be even MORE Hamsters.

That Hamster jousting will make a comeback and Noble Cause will be out of jobs because Hamster Jousting is more popular.

That the Baron and Baroness are REALLY the good King and Queen and the King and Queen are really just Baron and Baroness.

That I won't take any more photos of people in faire garb, only those in Mundane garb.

That Charmings new partner is a Hamster.

Celtic Legacy had to drop the bagpipess because someone complained of them strangling a cat so they now use a Kazoo

And there will be Season tickets on sale... forthe 2020 season ut they are only good for one year

Ok... now the rumor about the sale of CRF has gone on for many years now.  In all reality, JP makes a lot of money in CO.  The icee factory is in CO not PA.  All the costumes for cast are in CO not PA. Not that if someone offered him a humongous sum of cash, he would probably sell.  I would be surprised if it was more than just rumor.

As far as knowing who is on cast or not... remember there were a lot of regular cast let go right before opening weekend last year.  No one is really secure in their position until the last week of faire.  After all, even if you do get to work a few weeks.... you can always get fired and rehired the same day by the same guy.

I don't know if I will be back this year.  Not a negative, just a reality.  Time will only tell.

Rumors to Mong:

Radu is actually responsible for all hirings and firings this year.
HolierThanThou will be back....as a monk.
Demetrius will only tell truths this summer.
Zoe has been promoted to Chief Pop Wench, she gets a new spiffy hat.
Captain Spleen has found a boat and will be sailing in the newly converted jousting arena.
The horses will be fitted with PFDs and the joust will continue.
Puke and Snot, Ded Bob, and the Knights will All have new material.
Baron and Baroness will be allowed to dictate who gets in.
Tanda will be climbing 14ers rather than attending faire.
Lady De Laney will be a pirate more often.
Periwinkle will shed her horn to prepare for mating season.
The Professor will forget more about history than the rest of us know together.
Charming will finally find his true love....in Dashing. (that's rather slash inspiring actually....)
Hey Aren't You will get lost and confused for someone else.
Garath will find his true calling...being a squire.
Avan will lose his voice..and alcohol and be shunned by all.
Blushing will run front gate.
Nelle and Sauve will come as Deanna and Riker instead.
Mistress Charlotte will put all the other face painters out of business because she's just that awesome.
Gentlemanprivateer will find a sackful of money and be able to complete his costume to perfection.
Toki will come as a fairy and look fabulous.
Lady Remi will never forget the baby.
Platt will find Avan's voice and be shunned by all.
AnnietheNanny will have nothing but well behaved children to watch.
Aislynn will be voted best balcony.
Pktaxwench will accept the job she was offered last year. She knows.  ;)

That's all the rumors I have for now.  ;D

Fantastic!  I shall begin the hiring and firing process now.  Jim Paradise will be fired and replaced with an untrained monkey.  Things can only improve from here.

All existing musical groups will be required to audition with their choice of song from "Pavarotti's Greatest Hits".

All existing court members must re-audition as well, and must display a variety of talents, including, but not limited to: Sitting, Eating, Talking, and Waving.  Court shall be reduced to 3 members.

Existing Street Cast (All 3 of you) will also be required to re-audition.  Talents to display will include: Putting up with everything and anything on a whim, and any 8 of the 10 following skills: Storytelling, Juggling, Dancing, Singing, Spinning, Blacksmithing, Leathercrafting, Chicken Plucking, Cooking, and Random Street Insults.  Street cast will be increased to 99 (because 100 is just excessive)

New auditions must come dressed in their very best, off the rack, polyester garments, and show an amazing lack of understanding of weather patterns, and the need for water through the day.

Other requirements to be announced on day of auditions.

Jim has received numerous offers over the years, one of them I can directly corroborate as I know the person who headed up the group.  Until Jim starts losing money because of the faire, he will never sell.  Its all about the cashflow.

At the risk of sounding like I'm just trying to placate...

The Colorado Renaissance Festival is, by far, my favorite place in the Universe.

I have been going to this faire for 28 years.

It is my therapy- of which I need a huge amount. Huge. Amount.

I care a great deal about all the people who make faire possible- whether I share common traits with them outside of faire or not.

I understand why people have complaints about faire- and I realize people complain about faire because they care... nonetheless- I love it too much and there are far too many crappy things outside of faire to worry about.

CRF is my sanctuary.

Well, enough about me... what do you love about faire?

To cut costs, Jim and Betty are only hiring hamsters this year.
All stage shows will be rotated to the stage to their left. Doing the Hokey Pokey will be mandatory, and this will be enforced.

Facts: Foxglove is intending to return! Albeit, without our favorite Renaissance Barbie, who can no longer subject her voice to the harsh conditions . . . we'll probably be looking for another member soon.

Fact: I haven't the foggiest idea how often Jared and myself will be gracing the faire with our presence. Right now it could just be me, hopefully back on cast, or it could be neither of us not making an appearance at all. Who knows.

Remi, I do hope that you both can come back... the whole darn family would be better!

Hey Aren't You.... I think the right to call Paige mine has been slapped into me a few too many times to ignore.

I'm working on a new character.  Probably would not be able to work with the elephant with this character, but hey.... If you've seen "Labyrinth" and remember the moving garbage heap... tee hee... you may see a human facsimile.

Hey now.... I'd love to work with you both, but I don't think I can take standing in a booth, in one spot all day and going on my lunch break to walk the elephant.  If I can find a job I can run around and play at least part of the day and walk the elephant, that would be sublime.  Sharon did say that I could work out a schedule that is part-time in the booth, but things can change and technically... her daughter is my boss.  So it would really be up to her.  We will see.

I guess you are right on my being Paige's... her play toy.  She likes to hug my head to remove the wig, slap my head on the way to an Arnold Palmer, and drop her tree limb treats on my head for tenderizing.  Nothing like being the only girl she'll put up with.  I guess that means I'm not competition.  LOL.

I love being SMC and would do it again in a heartbeat.  I am sought out as the character here and abroad.  Unfortunately the powers that be dismissed SMC as a "not larger than life character" last year.  I'm already bordering sacrilege, so I don't think I can make her any larger than life without offending too many people.  I also have my religious ethics to consider.  There are so many people that believe that I am a real nun.

Truly... I know that some of the powers that be were raised Catholic, so I think that some are afraid of me and my ruler.

SMC did not come back last year due to my being listed in the program as entertainment. I did not want any issues to arise with my not being able to perform up to my standards.

The wonderful people that hired me last year, hired me because they remembered me as the nun.  They had a blast with all of the colorful characters I showed up as.  Problem was I was tied to a booth and could not go out and interact with patrons and cast.  I walked the elephant on my lunch hour.  So... I hope that I can find a more part-time position with one of the booths.

It was a good opportunity for me to get out some of my other garb that CRF attendees had not seen.

So will SMC be back?  Other faires and festivals... yes!  Probably not to CRF.

Baron, surely you jest about attending CRF every day as the Baron & Baroness!  Many of us know the rumor about you and the Baroness.  You know the one I'm referring to.  Well, if you're not about to tell, then I guess I'll just have to share.  Rumor has it, that for some reason or another the Baron & Baroness von Richthofen (who are both so dear to my heart) will also not be permitted to attend CRF as themselves (Baron & Baroness).  For unknown reasons, they have been "disciplined" and informed that they may only attend faire in "street clothes" consisting of...... camoflauge shorts, Broncos shirts, flip flops, sunglasses, baseball caps, and finally a cigar in one hand, and a bottle of Bud in the other!  Can you just picture it?  It will certainly be a sight to be seen!!!  I'm not even sure I'll be able to recognize the 2 of you "ungarbed" but I hope you can still have fun!!!  I will certainly miss your lovely attire.  Do you think you'll still be asked to be a part of the "parade"?  Maybe with shovels behind the elephant?

Oh please say that Lady Ana is jesting about the Baron & Baroness not being able to come in their noble garb.   :-[
They are so stunning and they interact with patrons!  Which the kids adore!  Cast nobility is not permitted to interact with children unless it is with the king and queen.

Even if it is true, I know that they can come back as common folk instead of mundanes.  The baroness has a lovely blue outfit that is not noble.  Sigh... I hope that it is not true.

It would have been more fun as the moving trash heap that approaches and bows to the nobility.

I'm running out of people to grovel to!    >:(

I had a Faire dream! It was opening day, and raining, so the only people that were there were the hard core people. And fence for the jousting arena was gone. And there was a new enclosed carriage.

I have faire dreams all the time and the grounds are always very different- and there are always real people from the real renaissance.

Good thing you had your dream so they have plenty of time to fix the fence. The rain always kills us at faire, so no rain this year.

IF we had the money AZ would be an option. But we don't have the money for all the gas, hotel and food even with Uncle Sams help. Being unemployed hinders what we can do. BUT I refuse to NOT have some fun from my Uncle Sam money.

We would have loved to have gone for the V-Day event, but fortunately I am directing on that day and beginning film production that week.  Can't vanish this month. Would be fun to travel with all of our faire friends.

And it would be enormous fun to have you along!  Any chance of you making Scarby in April?

My hubby and daughter have jobs down at Scarby.  It all depends on outside factors for me though.  I'm hoping it all works out.

The Baroness and I understand "outside factors" very well.  Nonetheless, if things work out and you decide to go, please let us know when you will be there and mayhap we can attend the same weekend.

Also, where are hubby and daughter working?

I believe it will mostly be Elizabeth attending this year...although it's likely that Zoë will be finding her way every so often.  One of the two will be there every day at least.

Fair Zoe,

The Baroness and I are well acquainted with yourself and with Fritzie, but have not had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth Covington.  Is there a photo somewhere?

It was Elizabeth who attended faire most days last season, Zoë only made it out of the packing crate but a few times.  Hers is the ensemble with the black corset and the burgundy skirt and--perhaps most notably--no pirate hat.  She's a runaway in the process of changing her identity to keep hidden from her parents...intrigue!

I had one last week as well...something about my booth being changed quite drastically and I was rather peeved about it.  I knew it must be about that time if I'm dreaming about faire!

I'll be making it down to Arizona in mid-March, near the end of the run.  Feels like forever!

I have also had one or two dreams about faire. The site is always very different for me too. Its very strange. But everyone that is normally there is there, so thats good :D * does Dorothy impression* "you were there, and you were there..and you!"  lol

Im hoping we will at least make it out once or twice. Jared said he may be trying to get a job working for a vendor, in which case, Mischief will certainly be there more than a few times :D
