Title: Riding high on the Ponderosa....
Post by: Capt. Morgan on January 26, 2010, 07:45:34 AM
One of my favorite actors has passed away at 81.

I loved Pernell Roberts as Adam Cartwright. As the eldest, he shouldered responsibility with grace without becoming a stick in the mud. He had a wry sense of humor, captivating eyes, an engaging crooked smile and a wonderful voice, both speaking and singing....and of all the Cartwright boys, he was about the only one who actually changed his outfit from show to show tho' I will always remember him in basic black and was my inspiration for my very monotone clothing selection. Black is classic...not the Johnny Cash black...the Adam Cartwright black.

*ducks in time and picks up gaunlet*

You dropped this...

I don't really listen to Country/Rockabilly/Gospel/Christian music so I really wouldn't pass judgement on Mr. Cash at all....it's just that...Adam Cartwright was my intro Icon to "Good Guys Wear Black"....that's all. No insult intended...

*sigh*

I really need to get my picture up on the Forum...LOL!

Indeed. I used to watch that show almost every day on TV Land and have seen more episodes than not.

Those eyes.....Oh, those eyes!

RIP Pernell Roberts. You were the best of the lot of them.

No, we are swooning over an iconic image caught in time...a man that does not age...such is the timeless beauty of celluloid. As an immortal...I can identify!  ;)

Was never a big Bonanza fan but he starred in one of my favorite western movies Ride Lonesome with Randolph Scott.  He played a outlaw trying to go straight what I think of as a likeable rogue.  He was one of those rare actors who could do my serious and comic roles with equal skill.
