**sigh** I just don't know if I'll be buying a FoF pass this year. I want to really badly but nothing is definite with moving and everything being so chaotic. I want to be out there as much as possible...

Going to have to make up my mind soon before the price jumps.

I should be there, unless we will have a rehearsal with War Horse  - I am squiring this year. In which case, I will be there, but @ the arena.

Not sure if I'll be there or not.  Depends on if I can wrangle permission to attend from TPTB. :)

Well unfortunately I probably won't be able to go. We promised our daughter we'd come to Houston for Easter.

I know the feeling... Family and religious holidays frequently trump faire...

You're squiring?!?  THAT'S GREAT!!!  And it means I'll see you every day of Faire at the list for the 6:00 p.m show!

P. S. Cool, we have a Fraternity...    :D Wild squire parties...woohoo

Always wanted to go but we only get one FoF pass between the two of us.  My wife just normally gets a season pass.  Outside of the picnic we don't see any reason for the added cost of two FoF.

Considering I saw one of my favorite faire Uncles TWICE last season, now you're giving me a better reason to buy a pass....*sigh* Better start diggin' under the sofa for change.

Hahah....yeaaaa. I would LOVE to find money of a large amount in my or anyone elses sofa...maybe I oughta go resurrect that dead money tree out back. Too bad, its frozen, bitter, and hasn't bloomed in years.

I read a book once with a tree that was frozen, bitter and has not bloomed in years.  ;) It took a return of a king and some hobbits to get it blooming. We got a king, now we need some hobbits.

Ok, so it is a plan then. Get the hobbits and we will re-enact Return of the King. And then your tree will bloom with money.  ;D

Alas! I am short but my feet are tiny and hairless.  Can't do a Hobbit. I want my tree to bloom with money too!  What if we fertilize with pennies? Miracle grow? LOL!

Well, we will miss the picnic this year, alas. Easter is a big gathering day for our family. But, we are acutally going to try to attend at least one day of every single weekend this year. Staying for sure 3 times for both days. Everyone have fun at the picnic and we will see you at opening gate on opening day.

I ask this because this is the first year the rogue and I have friends of the faire passes.  Last year we only had season passes.

April 4th is "preview" weekend?
There is a picnic that afternoon for FOF people?
That weekend we can get our photos for our passes done?

sorry a little confused. I'm neck deep in last minute commisions for my local theater, and for scarby patrons; so my brain's a little fired.  :(

Yes, April 4th is the preview. We get to see new chess match, joust and meet old and new characters and take a bunch of pictures. Then we all get together and eat.  You can have the pictures done before that event (Irish fest) or go to their web site to FOF section. I know you are busy with rehearsals ;) I think you will really enjoy having FOF pass.

P.S. Preview is a non-garb event.

I assume the picnic is a big pot luck? Or each brown bag it?

Considering how much fun we had last year I know we will have fun this year. :)

I will remind the Pink Pirate that he has to leave his cape at home.  It's got to be weird being at scarby and in mundanes.  ::shutters::

Anyway we are looking forward to it.  8)

Faire provides the food for the picnic.  It is part of their "thank you" to the folks who have bought FoF passes.

It also serves as dress rehearsal for the performing company, allowing them to shake off the rust, and allowing the new folks a chance to interact with patrons before Opening Day.  So having everyone in non-garb means that the new people have a chance to get comfortable with interacting with the shorts 'n t-shirt set.

The picnic is also a meet 'n greet, to let the FoF folks get to meet this year's performing company members and chat with them out of character.  The SAPA folks will be at rehearsals all that morning, will be working the lanes til just before the picnic, then usually go back and change clothes and come out to join everyone for food and conversation.  It's a nice, laid back thing, really.

Are they switching it back to non-garb this year?

Did they?  I wasn't there last year, so I wasn't aware they'd changed that policy.  Not sure.  Maybe Berit will chime in at some point and clarify. :)

I personally liked the no garb policy. There's no question on who is cast and who isn't. And it makes it nicer when the cast "de-garbs" and comes out and visits with everyone. IMHO

I'd have to agree with Nic on the garb question  :)

We probably will not make it to the preview this year due to it falling on Easter...just too much going on with family.

Take your pick on garb.  If you want to be in garb, great.  If you want to be in civies, also great.  Just be a Friend of the Fairea as the event is ONLY open to Friends of the Faire and their children. (If said children have a season pass).    The event starts at 1 pm.  Food service will begin at 4 pm.  There will also be beverages, both adult and non, available for sale.  Be sure and call or email the office with your RSVP by March 24 so that we can order enough food.

Is the event the sort you want to be there at 1 so as not to miss anything, or the sort you want to get there somewhere between 1 and 4 and don't miss the grub at 4?

Trying to plan Easter accordingly!

If you didn't go because you thought it was raining you missed a good day.
We drove up from Houston and made it about 2:30. It was humid but overall a nice day for the preview.
Seeing all those people I don't recognize makes me realize i have to work harder to get to know the additional 1498 FOF people that I don't know yet.
Great to see those I did know too!

I was looking for people I knew on here, but other than 5- 6 people I didn't recognize people. It was weird seeing people "naked".  I did learn alot though. It made for a nice weekend and Happy Easter.  ;D

I like all the improvements they did this year.

I was there. Love me some sauerkraut! It will be amazing to see the buildings that were under construction completed.

Did you notice the new building being built inside the "Y" of the paths in front of the maze? Also looks like a new misting bridge too and a complete redo of the building next to the barrel shop. I think it's a children's shop.
