Greetings All!!!
The First Annual Sherwood Forest Faire 2010 has been quite special to date and we thank each of you for being a part of an extraordinary experiment in community, art, fun and business.
This Saturday will be exceptional. Do not miss it.
Here are some of the events for Saturday in our woods...
David Arkenstone, renowned New Age musician, three time Grammy nominee, will be playing this Saturday and Sunday.
The Budweiser Clydesdales will be present Saturday and Sunday.
Moondawg, our very own Webmaster is getting hitched within the Seven Sisters.
After the fireworks, folk are invited back to the pub for a fund raiser for the not for profit that attends to the medical and social needs of rennies--Rescue. There will be beer to buy at the pub with proceeds going to Rescue, a silent auction, and lots of entertainment.
Then around 9-9:30, the Rescue Rally will conclude and we will make our way to the Seven Sisters for a nite of drumming, dancing, music, fire twirling around our Stone Circle...concluding around 1am. Then clear the grounds in preparation for Sunday Faire.
Lots of Special Activities are also being planned for our last day of Faire which is falling on the Blessed Day of Easter. Latin Mass, dragon egg hunt for the kids, and more.
Spread the word.

<whimper> I'd love to see the clydesdales! Not looking good for this weekend unless I can bribe the spousal unit. But we do plan on coming again closing weekend! Please someone post pics of the ponies!
Okay, LOVE the new faire. Really looking forward to the wedding. What are the post wedding celebration plans? Are we supposed to show up at a specific camp? Bring food & libations? Where should gifts be dropped off, etc? This is what happens when you avoid the computer; you end up dismally out of the loop :-[
We should be there on Sunday.
Does anyone know if there will be any type of delay with the terrible rain that's hitting the area currently? My wife and I really want to attend but don't want to travel down that way due to a rain out.

The Faire
will go on rain or shine. It's a shame that on a day like today with so much planned for Sherwood, the weather is acting up like it is.
The good news is that much of the rain is supposed to blow thru the area mid-day time frame. But the temp is supposed to drop with wind gusts. But tomorrow is supposed to be sunny.
If you look at the WeatherUnderground - WunderMap for McDade (http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/?lat=30.30417061&lon=-97.22096252&zoom=10&pin=McDade%2c%20TX) (Interactive Live Weather overlay on Google Maps), you can see that at 10:15 AM the storm front has nearly passed through the area, going East. Behind it, the temperatures are in the low 40's, with winds of 5 - 25 MPH.
I'm in McDade visiting friends, and if the Sun comes out fairly early today, I'm headed to the Faire. Otherwise, I'm planning to attend tomorrow.
Take Care,
David Baldock
just curious. does anyone know the total number of people who attended yesterday?
i was there and as far as i could tell there wasn't many. bloody weather
we only had 800+ for saturday and a bit over 2000 sunday.
I will try to do a better job on the weather for next weekend! Fighting the El Nino wizard is not easy! That is not a bad turnout! All were in the mood to play on Sunday! My Evil twin had a grand time!

2000 is a respectable number for Sunday! I suspect that there were plenty of folk who came that day rather than risk the rain and dreariness of Saturday.
We had a pretty steady stream of people in the shop on Sunday. It was a welcome change LOL! Lots of people played along, and I was lucky enough to get to stalk some patrons while chasing them with goblets for sale. Almost walked out the front gate with them LOLOL!

Considering the unseasonably wet and cold winter, I think you've done a good job with the weather. I think we've just had one and a half bad weather days out of 8 faire days so far. And this weekend should be good. I was afraid it was going to be 40 degrees every day based on the weeks leading up to faire.
Otherwise its been perfect! I think mid 60's is the best faire temperature.
Thanks Justin! We can only try! Magick is never easy and weather is tricky. We can only hope for more perfect faire weekends at Sherwood! POOF!!!<<<<***!
Don't worry Queen Bonnie, I didn't mind your weather flub on Saturday at all, I got to wear all my grab and get my moneys worth out of it. Such a drag to buy grab and not be able to wear it!
Saturday was so cold- I wish I had worn ALL my garb! BRRR! LOL! Grand to see you Charlie! Congrats on the lovely house too!
It was a cold but wonderful weekend! Charlie, it was SOOOO good to see you. We really miss you :'(
