Title: Chippewa Valley WI
Post by: Leyla on April 02, 2010, 02:17:24 AM
Is anyone planning on attending this year? This is a new faire, in the old location. Camping adjacent as before.

Dates for this year: May 22 to June 19.

Their website: http://festfun.com/

I know TWIG runs the weekend of June 12th.

I don't think I'm up for camping, but a day trip sounds fun!

Any fair that close is a "gotta go"!  Don't know what weekend but I will be there...I have to do Twig this year, dissapointed I missed last year!  A group would be more fun, let's pick a date eh?

I'm in!  A day trip would be perfect.  I imagine it'll be a bit smallish this first year.  Probably not using all the buildings, etc.  Still, I'd love to check it out.

Let's pick a date and make plans.   :D

I like the May 22nd and June 5th weekends. (Mostly because I know I can get them off for certain). 5/22 is the Scottish festival though, not sure how many were planning on attending that one.

As a proper Scottish lass, we will likely be attending the Scottish Fair.
We have June 5th open for a day trip...  Isn't that Toar's birthday???

FYI - The Gypsy Guerrilla Band (http://home.earthlink.net/~jimlillq/) is scheduled to play this faire.  They're great fun, and play a lot of tunes that Scottish Country Dancers like to dance to.  Just for fun, ask Jim if he will do one of the tunes with lyrics and tell him that David B. in Texas requested it.   ;)  :D

Take Care,
David Baldock

I would like to go but I have wedding on 22nd so that's out for me, 5th I'll be at Siouxland, 12th is Twig so that leaves me on the 29th (but obviously I can't carpool from here Sleepy!) Since it's a 3 hr trip I would definitely camp. I was debating on not supporting this faire cuz I think it's crappy they planned during Siouxland and Twig when so many from Twin Cities go to those faires. Hopefully they will realize that and change the weekends next year.

Yes, she is playing the queen. Different period and setting. I will be there only on Sunday June 6th. Only time I can go in between performing and other schedule conflicts. The 5th is a possibility if the highland games here are rained out. Have to watch weather for any day of regular fun. Hope to see some of you then.

Have fun everyone!!!  And say Hi to my Uncle for me.

We are considering this faire after looking at the cast.  Although further looking I could not tell when all of these performers would actually be there.  One of the acts I like, was only going to be there for 2 of the weekends.  I sent an email to see if a schedule of performance was going to be available to help in our planning.  Anyone know if a schedule exists as of yet?

Um, this may be a stupid question, but is there anywhere in specific that everyone is going to meet or are we just doing the "Hey, let's talk to everyone in garb and see if they are on the forums!" thing?  If THAT is the case then AuntieGiggles will be wearing the green and blue noble gown that she is wearing in her avitar pic and I'll be in my new yellow and wine noble gown.  My oldest daughter will be in her green and blue gown that matches Giggles (unless she decides at the last minute to be a water fairy, then she'll be in a blue fairy gown,) my middle daughter will be in a pink princess Halloween costume (or a fire fairy gown) and I'll be carrying my babygirl around- she'll be a purple and green Spring Fairy!  =)  So feel free to talk to us if you see us around!  =)

I am hoping to check it out this weekend. I hear pirates are invading on Saturday... I am hoping that my wings fit in the booths... I haven't been a patron at a fair in 5 years now and I think this could be fun!

Recommended shows to see? This will be one of my only chances to do so....

Despite the fact that is was terribly wet and dreary out... my husband and I had a great time at the fair. My wings held up and I got just tons and tons of compliments... mind you I didn't make it out without some kids coming up to me thinking I worked there... oh well.. always have an emergency stash of bubbles and lucky shells when you go to a fair is the rule for me I guess.

Rainy days are kind of a right of passage.  We spent a day at Scarby and it pretty much poured all day and we got soaked and muddy - but still a great day at faire.  At least the crowds are less :)

Had a delightful day at this faire yesterday!    It did rain for a good part of the day but it was a soft rain and didn't impede our enjoyment of the village.

We had a lovely chat with the king, thoroughly enjoyed the Hey Nunnie Nunnie show (freakin' hilarious!), noshed a bit, drank a bit, wandered a lot.

We had dinner at a little Mexican place in town right there... service was insanely fast, portions were more than ample, and it was darn tastey, too.

Even the drive to and from was a lot of fun in the company of friends.   Huzzah!

While the faire is a fun one, and has great potential, I think two days might be too long to spend there at this point..  :-\ You may want to do the faire one day and find something else to fill up your second day..?

We did have a great time despite the rainy weather, but the faire is small with not a whole lot to do or see. Great potential just needs some time to stretch their legs..

$3.00 for beer is fabulous!!

Would like to see them not using the food/drink ticket thing.. made it feel more like an amusement park or State fair than a Ren Faire.

Would have been nice to see some special events during the day as well, like they had last time we were there (2008) Ales & Tales was great fun! Gave you chance to see a variety of performers and sample the Ale..

I agree with Muffin. It is a wonderful fair with lots of potential but 1 day was enough for us to see what they had.

Hoping next year to add my talent to their cast, but it is too bad Hey Nunny Nunny is out... I would so recommend them... thanks for that Goody!

Grrr!  I hated the ticket for food and drink thing!  My 4 yr old felt faint so I went to get her water- it took a bit to locate the place that sold water (I didn't know about the drinking fountains by the privies yet) then had to go find the ticket thing then go back to the water place then back to my daughter.  Um yeah, that is a lot of time for a 4 yr old to wait for water so that she doesn't faint!  After she felt better we went back to the car, had a picinic and brought in our own water bottles which I continuously refilled at the drinking fountains.

I LOVE the drinking fountain! Everyone carried there own water bottles. I can be picky on water flavor so I had a spoon and crystal light  packets in pouch. Drank five mugfulls in two days in addition to other beverages.
