How many angels can dance on the top of a pinhead?
How many angels have I found at Sherwood?
It's been magical.
It's been a love affair.
It's been a Wonderful journey -- one we hope will continue for generations to come.
Thank yall for a fantastic first year at Sherwood!
Thank you Eric, for sharing your dream with us, and for helping all our dreams to come true.
I honestly cannot thank you enough for Sherwood. It really is magical.
It was way too much fun! I am so tired today but can't stop smiling!
I did not want it to end- but - on to next year! Huzzah and hugs to all who made this such a fantastic magical, wondrous, faire!
Glad I could come and thoroughly enjoy myself. Keep up the awesome work!
I camped out Friday and Saturday nights and stayed for both days! It was absolutely amazing! I want to thank you so, SO much for this past weekend. It was everything I wanted it to be. Such a fantastic, magical weekend. I ran into some people from my past in Austin and chatted with them, and this was a great place to do it! I could say that I've "temporarily lived by Sherwood Forest in Texas for a short time."
I experienced something at the Ye Olde Trip that I've never experienced before in my life. There was the revelry of the final celebration of the closing with bands playing and singing together. After it finished, I went to sit down near by the Golden Conquistador. Only a minute later, I heard singing again. I thought, "Oh, it's starting again!" and walked back there, only to find there was no one singing... Just all the people talking together. I tried to see if there was a PA system playing back choral music, which is what it sounded like. I couldn't believe my ears! I was still hearing men and women singing in chorus, but it was not-too-faint that I wouldn't notice it, and it was indefinite. Sometimes, I'd swear that I was hearing a chorus with 3, maybe 4 different lines of voice in unison (men and women) in a quick waltz for only 2 or 3 seconds at a time, the rest being indefinite vocalizations with no definite beat. I think that since emotions of the good sort were still running high, people were still talking in the voice they sang in, and it all came together in a way that I could hear it 50 feet from the stage and didn't go away until there was probably less than 25 people in the building itself. I guess it has to do with my hearing. My hearing can be very impressionable under the right circumstances (mistaking what I hear for something else or hearing "artifacts" that hang over from the event, but this one has NEVER happened before) because of the nerve deafness that I have.
I'll always treasure this past weekend.
(bows gracefully)

the faire was amazing, cant wait to see what yall do next year.
Amanda and I cannot give enough praise to everyone involved with this faire, from the staff and performers to the patrons. And of course special thanks to Rengypsy for dreaming the dream.
We've been going to the area faires for years and though each has something a little different to offer, Sherwood was truly a magical experience. We look forward to being out there as much as possible next year and bringing as many people as we can!
Many thanks from us too! While we could only make opening weekend - our plans for closing weekend were foiled by real life - we had a marvelous time. I can't wait until next year!
;D :D ;D :D ;D :D
We were only there for opening day, but WHAT A DAY!
Hopefully next year I'll be able to visit the Forest a lot more often.
Thanks RenGypsy and Mike and George and all the other folk that made it possible. May the Seven Sisters protect your dream, for all of us.
THE FAIRE WAS FABULOUS. WE WERE THERE ONLY ONE WEEKEND AND CAMPED. THE GROUNDS KEEPER DID A WONDERFUL JOB. THE WEEKEND WE WERE THERE WAS PACKED WITH SPECIAL EVENTS...THE WEDDING (I CRIED) THE SPRING SOLSTICE CEREMONY (ENCHANTING) AND THE DRUMS AND DANCERS (WOW)!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO START MAKING PLANS TO BRING THE WHOLE MIRTHFUL MISFITS CREW UP NEXT YEAR. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE...... TIL WE MERRY MEET AGAIN.
Eric,
I've been attending medieval/renaissance fairs since 1983, either as a patron or as a participant. My wife and I were vendors at SWFF and we both agreed that everyone did a fantastic job pulling this all together. This was not a first year fair. This was a 5th or 6th year fair! We were also very impressed with you, Eric. You came around our shop virtually every Sunday to ask how things were going and to make sure that all was well. I saw you out and about frequently, watching shows, interacting with staff and cast and patrons. That made us feel particularly proud to be associated with the first year of this festival. Thanks definitely go to everyone, but thanks particularly go to you. Thank you for being genuine. Thank you for honestly caring about more than the bottom line.
See you next year.
~Ken
This has been such an intense weekend that I still cannot go back to my day-to-day living, mentally even two days later. I'm learning Spanish, and I can't seem to bridge that gap right now...
George and I thank each of you. We are truly humbled by the experience, by so many of you giving from your heart to make Sherwood a beautiful place to be. We fell in live with this wonderful family. We hope the spirit permeates our mundane world...and even have illusions that together we should/can figure out a business model where Sherwood is alive all year in one fashion or another...and those of us who are weary of seeking or travel can rest in these woods for a while longer . . . and make living while living the of our dreams.
Remarkable journey
I have experienced nothing like it
I study and analyze
and what I think has been sherwood's foundation of success are these factors:
--allowing each to create and effect and bring his/her best to the journey
--Sherwood has no king
--respect
--inclusion
--values based business practices
--George, Brian, Zane, Piros, Mike, Shane, Al, Neeke, Bobby, Jonah, and Moondawg
--the melding of patrons, participants, entertainers, vendors, and management as equals in our dream
--attempting to hold to our core business values of authenticity and quality
Zane did an outstanding job of bringing talent and soul to the faire
Brian kicked weed puller as a reasoned, logical, and ordered craft coordinator
George rules in a hundred different domains and is the best partner would could imagine
Piros stepped in to keep the infrastructure running
Mike took total control of the campgrounds and impressed us all
Shane saw a need and took the reins of security
Moondawgs work on the website dazzled us all
Jonah stepped in to quietly effect the faire for the better in ways few know about
and others like Reo who made us better
or Randy and valhalla clan
and Kev et al with the dragons of the round
and alex
and so many more
I can walk into Sherwood and see how so many touched/effected the creation of sherwood!!!
Yall are beautiful and we bow to all of you for your faith and shared vision

Sherwood is truly a magical experience! Thanks RenGypsy, and all the other folks that made it possible.
I was so happy to be among the folks outside the gate on opening day, and proud to show some newcomers around on the 5th weekend. I wish I could have come up more than twice this season, but there's always next year!
I made it out jsut one wekeend. Even in the rain, and the wind, and the chill, there was a definite magic there. It just felt RIGHT. I've found that if I can enjoy a faire in the worst of weather, it must be good. I am so impressed by all that was accomplished in just the first year, and am looking forward to many more visits in the coming years. Keep up the good work!!
I have been a renny for over 25 years and I have never experienced a new or old faire like Sherwood Forest Faire. I am not sure what you did, but I know it was done right. You conjured up a magical place that feels like it has been there for a lifetime. I join the chorus of praise for the team that made Sherwood Forest a reality.
OK, so I personally couldn't say enough great stuff about this faire!! This is such a beautiful site and like everyone said, it is beyond magical!! I could go on and on about all the reasons why I love this place!!! I really look forward to next year and how wonderful it will be if this was just the first year.... I really plan to try and be there alot more next year! I was there 3 weekends this year and it just didn't feel like enough! But of course with the 7th weekend added, that just means more weekends of fun!!!!
