Post by: Muffin on May 12, 2010, 09:51:38 AM
Pulled this info from the listserve..  :)

Hello, Everyone

Are you looking for work out at festival this year or know someone trustworthy and dependable who is? I have an opening at Folkstone Pub serving in the Bellini booth. It requires a full time, full run commitment and you will need to go through TIPS training.

Contact me off list if interested: heidimwendling at comcast dot net

Thanks!
Heidi Wendling

Yes and no.

Heidi is a contracted operator of the booth.  Just like the Jaycees and (most of) the beer booths.  She gets a FAR lesser cut of the sales than the Jaycees.  I would guess about a fifth.

Uh.. Wouldn't she be contracted by CKC? and whats your point about the cut? I'm not following? Are you slamming the Jaycees?

When I say it is a CKC pub, I mean it is not a Jaycee pub.. There are only two pubs out at fest that are not Jaycee pubs, therefore CKC pubs..

I am not slamming the Jaycees.  I would never do that.  I have nothing but respect for the work the Jaycees do out there.  I used to be one.

I am merely stating that, as a booth operator, I can assure you that the Jaycees are getting a great deal from CKC/MAF.  Operators get a pretty good deal, but nowhere near what the Jaycees get.

And this is good for the community the Jaycees support.

I still don't know what your point is..?

The point being:

They would not be working for CKC.  They would be working for Heidi.  Compensation terms would be set by Heidi, not CKC.  Insurance, schedule, complaints, etc would be handled by Heidi, not CKC.

Just like the beer booths.  They are also CKC booths, but you would get all direction from the operator, in that case the Jaycees.

I wanted to clarify this so people were not expecting (or afraid of) being paid thru CKC as their CKC owned & operated booths are.  People hear 'CKC' and get all twitchy.

I didn't get "twitchy" about it being a CKC pub. Just thought, "Hmmm would people want to buy beer from a super pregnant chick?" And decided I maybe wouldn't think about applying this year. ;)

Yeah, people know CKC's reputation and know that they do not want to work for them. So if the booths are actually run by someone other than CKC, that makes a big difference!

I thought about applying for this last year but I couldn't commit to all day, every day. Mac's worked out ok though. :) And it is nice to work for a good cause out there.

Sure they would.  Pregnant women are beautiful.  Besides you could tell them you're hiding a barrel mead in your shirt.

As the newly engaged purveyor of said mead, we should be extra careful about mentioning that anything I provide is growing inside Leyla's (or onyone's) belly!  ...or up their shirt.

:D
