Faire opening is just around the corner. And so far i am good health ( yea ! ) ( knock on wood ) and I plan on enjoying this faire season to the fullest, ( to make up for missing practicually all of last season. Belive me i don't plan on passing out again this year, unless someone should spike my drink. ;D ;D )
Anyway, I'm trying to plan what days i will be there. Right now I have four adult tickets and two children's tickets, but weather permitting, and schedule permitting, we might try to attend one day , either Saturday or Sunday , every weekend of faire.
So for planning purposes, I was wondering what days everyone plans on being there, cause I missed not seeing everyone last year, and I want to see all you guys this year, and get some group photo's of everyone. :) :)
Dunno, really. It will depend on our schedule and the weather. As much as you can still have a good time when the weather's crummy (and it definitely can help keep the crowds down), there are limits to how much pouring rain or blazing sun I'm willing to tolerate.
I'd say that sometime on opening weekend is a good possibility. We've already got tickets, but if we went opening weekend we might do the b1g1 deal and save those to go a second time. Or not - it's hard to say right now.
Not sure when we're going yet, right now I have Sundays off, but that may be changing soon...I'll be sure to post when I do get it all figured out, though :)
Planning on coming at least three times this season - already have tickets for the August 1st weekend :) Since there's the meetup on Highland Fling, I'll probably try to come on that Sunday, as well.
Planning on being there July 3rd, but doubt I will have the stamina for both days. We plan on pirate weekend and of course closing weekend. Can't do highland fling as Lillian has to work that weekend and I don't dare go without her. lol With what we have been through so far this year we need, nay we are entitled to these weekend to be with our friends. (Besides I have a couple of hugs coming)
Hugs? :P
Just come when you are able to! Will be so good to meet you and meet everyone, for that matter!
The Bunny People (Maxwell and Bunny Rose) should be there with some of our Rabbit friends (Capt. Jack and Juliet, etc.) every day except for July 18. Can't miss our Granddaughter's Baptism.
july 31, and aug. 1 for me
It will be my first time at Sterling, up from the FL faires. Should roll in either the last weekend in July or first weekend in August. :D
Hi Kathryn!
You will love Sterling! I hope we do meet up sometime, during your visit...oh and welcome!!!
irish
Thanks! We'll be hitting the faire as part of a road trip, so we'll have the whole crew with us: pets and all! Speaking of which, does anyone have any recommendations for good pet friendly hotels or names of towns/cities close to the faire that we should turn out hotel search toward?
Welcome, Kathryn! The Sterling Renaissance Festival website has some recommendations for accommodations on their website. On the sidebar, click on "The Festival" and you'll see a listing of all sorts of general info about the Faire, and accommodations will be among the options.
If you have questions about any hotel in particular, feel free to ask ~ if any of us have an opinion or any information, we'll be glad to share it! :)
What part of FL are you coming from? I have family near Tampa.

Thanks for the welcome! I used to live by Tampa in Hudson. Now I'm on the east coast (and loving it!!) in between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine. BARF is where I got started (unless you count King Richards Faire when I was 6 months old) but now my "home faire" is more Hoggetowne in Gainesville.
Not sure yet as to which weekend we will be there...hmmm maybe I should pick a different weekend again this year to get out of buying you a birthday beer eh? lol Looking forward to this season!
we are planning July 3 as well...on our way to Chautauqua for a vacation with family. I've never been to Sterling so I'm quite excited!!
Opening Day, whee! ;D
Right now, myself, my husband, and son plan on maybe attending one day every weekend, unless something unforseen comes up.( Depends on weather, finances, stamina )
This coming weekend we plan on being there Saturday for opening day ! If you spot me. please stop me and say hello !
I will be there opening weekend. This will be my first visit to your shire. After hearing many wonderful things about your Faire from Giacomo and Looney Lucy of Empty Hats, I am really looking forward to this trip.
We look forward to you coming. I'm sure you will enjoy our faire, the weather forecast is looking great and it looks like we have a great line up again this year. Don't be afraid to say hi to any of us, we don't bite. (We lady Amy and irish may nibble a little bit)
M'Lady and I will be attending every weekend except for the first weekend (bloody work schedule!). We are unsure of the specific days for each weekend except Pirate and Finale, which we will be there both days. We will be accompanied by our new Canadian addicts for 3-4 of the weekends as well.
LOL! Nibble, nibble....... ::)
We still don't know when we'll be attending ~it depends on how budget stuff shakes out, but we hope to make it out at least once this season...hopefully I'll run into some of you there! :)
i plan on being there tomorrow , Sunday. Too humid here still, to go today. if anyone on here , is going to be there tomorrow, let me know ! :)

There will be a goodly amount of ren invaders up from PA this weekend. We had planned to meet at the Bad Dog tavern on Sat at 2. I heard the tavern moved? Or maybe changed it's name? I'm so ready to play!
The tavern's in the same place. It's now the Rose & Crown and has shifted its target audience from adults to families. No idea whether the food's the same, as I've never actually gone inside (being to much a kid at heart to dare step foot inside the Bad Dog and having forgotten about the place when I was there opening weekend).
Welcome and have a great time!
I shall miss the invasion! I will be at a wine festival in Watkins Glen, the weekend.
I know...what an awful time I will have! ::) LOL!
I hope you have a perfect weekend and enjoy Sterling as much as we all do!
irish
We will be there every Saturday.
We will be there this Sunday.
Well, unfortunately it doesn't appear as if we'll be visiting from FL. College bills ran over what I'd budgeted for.
The Rose & Crown Tavern is in no way chaining its target audience. Just the name has changed to a more authentic old English name nothing else and its still featuring roving musical entertainment. We have also added a Wine Garden Patio at the chapel next door before and after the Queens Tea etc. It offers a great cool shaded place to watch shows on Wild Wood Stage or just to relax and refresh with your favorite food, friends and beverage check it out.
Love the name change, Sir Douglas. I noticed on the website that the Pub on the Bogges is now the Snickleway Pub. Cute name. Is there a story behind it?

Thanks for clarifying, Sir Douglas. I was confused by the statement on the website (http://www.sterlingfestival.com/thefestival/RoseCrownTavern/tabid/156/Default.aspx):
"
Children are encouraged at this family friendly restaurant."
Whereas it used to say (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:qMZ5d0Ez9hoJ:www.sterlingfestival.com/thefestival/BadDogTavern/tabid/156/Default.aspx+bad+dog+tavern+sterling&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a):
"
Children are discouraged at this "bawdy basket" location, and although they won't be turned away, it is the one location in the shire reserved for adults."
I read that as a change of target audience. Actually, reading it over again, I can't think of any other way to read it.
I guess I need to read my web site more closely or its a mistake not sure which? Sorry, I will check on that and get back to you!
We'll be there next Saturday (July 24th), visiting for first time and driving up from Maryland. Looking forward to it!
Well, it's looking less likely that we'll make it to Sterling this season, we just don't have the budget for it right now :-\
We're planning a trip to PARF at the end of September, though, so maybe we'll see sone of you there & I guess we'll have to start saving for Screamer's Hollow, too, so I can still get my Sterling Fix for the year ;)
Greetings all,
After many years away, I have just moved back to Western New York, so Sterling will once again be my home faire. I will be attending this weekend in full pirate garb. If you should happen see me, please say hi, it would be nice to meet some of you.
Welcome back to Sterling Daniel, we have a meat up at 2:30 both days this weekend at
the Rose and Crown pub down by the dunk pond.

Welcome ataraxy!!!
I am sure you will enjoy Sterling!
Some of us will be at the Rose & Crown, around 2:30.
Some of us may be under the table, too....LMAO! ;D
Have a safe trip!!
irish
" Yes, Irish and I will be under the table checking out any Kilts and ...... " ;D ::)
" Hey sis, how come you told them about our hiding spot ? " LOL !!!
Stamps foot and pouts and then says " How come i was not inform of the gathering this weekend at the Rose and Crown ? Hmmmmm......." :( :( :( :( :'( :'( :'( ;D ;)
Right now I plan on being there both days ( weather permitting ) in my full pirate captain attire.
Also check out my firends booth " The Crown and Feather ." They will be selling some very nice pirate hats if anyone needs one. Just tell Scott or Julie you know me and you will be well taken care of.
Also saw Dan Juan and Miguel this past weeknd at faire and they have out a new dvd " I sense Danger " that stars alot of the cast from Sterling including our dear beloved queen.
:o!! Stop stomping! lol!
Heck, we can meet every faire day at Rose & Crown! :P
(just some faire days I wont be there...lmao!)
Rose & Crown. 2:30 pm. Noted and will try to make it there then if we don't get lost in the shire somewhere!
We'll also be camping at Sutter Creek. Are there typically bonfires there on Saturday nights?
There was a bonfire the weekend we camped there, I *think* they do it every weekend but I could be mistaken...and it's quite a nice campground, too, and only a few minuets from Faire ~ Have fun! :)
It's looking likely that we'll be there the weekend of July 31st/August 1st (Highland Fling). Summer weekends are filling up fast, and that's about the only one left to use up our advance-sale tickets. We generally aim for Saturdays, but we'll go whichever day the weather looks to be preferable.
i hope to be there both days this weekend dressed in full pirate garb. of course this weather permitting. right now the forcast for sterling is thunderstorms both days. Please change weather...pretty please. :) ;)
Actually, Sunday looks to be the better of the two days.
Isolated t-storms, but only 79! ;D
Just don't dress so heavily Amy! You can always say the thunder is canon fire! LOL!
:P

I'm not concern about it being warm. i'm more concern about some of the pieces of my pirate outfit like my jacket, hat, and leather belts, and leather accessories getting wet and ruined. a light rain is one thing, but we had two nasty, heavy downpours the last two days.
I missed pirate weekend last year, cause of me passing out the week before at faire, and still being in the hospital the weeknd of pirate weekend. i'm not missing out on the fun this year.
Lol. yes..that ain't thunder...that be my crew raiding the taverns for rum !!! LOL !
DON'T FORGET THIS WEEKEND IS also Harborfest, in Oswego. So if you coming to faire this weekend, give yourself some extra time to get there, cause traffic could be backed up abit. :)
Hi people the chance of percipitation for the weekend (at sterling) is ONLY - (revised) saturday 30% and 10% on sunday. Check out the new weather feature at our web site home page.
My friend and I are attending tomorrow...monsoon or shine! Yay! Will be on the lookout for familiar faces (and garb).
I am almost hoping for the monsoon with the wx predicted, oh well we always make the
best of the day anyways. Meetup at the Rose & Crown at 2:30, you'll probably see me
fae daughter way before that.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! :D
I will be at faire this Sunday, afterall!!!! ;D
We will get there about 1:00.......
OMG! I can't wait to see you guys!!!!! :-*
After this week of bad luck, I need to leave reality....lmao! ::)
was at faire yesterday. they had a huge crowd, but overall the day went well, and the rain held off until 5pm. so it was great day. Dressed up in my pirate cpatian oufit. had my sword and pistol on me, and little kids keept coming up to me for photo opps.. Have to love the liitle ones. so cute.
Plan on being there today too. hope to see some of you all.
oh too darn funny...yesterday a little girl saw me...and she said " look mommy there is a female pirate captain." then she turns to her slightly older brother , whacks him slightly in the arm and says " See i told you girls could be pirates too !" ;D

What an awesome day, at faire! ;D
I finally got to meet Frank & Lillian!....and give Frank his huggggggg!!
It was so great to meet up with Lady Amy, her family family & Ozium!
Was able to chat a bit with Sir Douglas, who is just a really nice guy!
I am planning on being at HighLand Fling. Have favors to pass out! :D
Irish, I'm glad to hear you & Lady Amy & everyone else got to enjoy the FANTASTIC weather today at Faire! Just a little Renvy, but I was hoping for a fantastic day for you all! ;D
We had a great time on Saturday. The only thing that could have made it better would have been less humidity early and no rain at the end!
We had a great time Sunday. Ran into a little rain on the way to faire, but when we arrived the sun was chasing the clouds away and the temperature was nice. I got to meet two great ladies, Captain Amy and irish. I have waited a long time to meet these two so that i could thank them in person. This past year I battled cancer and they, along with Photomike were always there with words of encouragement. They made a tough situation a lot easier for Lillian and me. Ren faires have the greatest people. Thanks. Hope to see everyone at the last day of faire.
Awwwwwww, you don't know me very well......... :P
LMAO! :D
It was so nice to meet you, also!
Will see you last day of faire, for sure!
I will have red eyes from crying.. :'(.........lol!
****I will save you and Lillian a favor, to give you, last day faire****
Attention.........
How would you all feel about having a group photo?
One where my hair isn't plastered to my face, I mean? LOL!
And.......we need to have Sir Douglas in the photo, too!!
We could do it, last day of faire?
I'd love to have us all, family & friends, in a photo.
What do you think?

I wish I could have stayed longer and chatted , but i had promised my little guy that we go and watch the pirates make the wenches walk the plank and fall into the dunk pond. Aye yes, what me be teaching the young lad. LOL. actually he is quite popular with the young wenches at faire......yikes...and he only six. Lord help me !!!
But like i said it was great seeing you, and so happy that you are doing well, and are able to make it to faire. Hugs !!! :)

You mean you did not like that group shot we had yesterday ?? The men looked good, but oh yes, you and i never looked better ::) ::) :P, with our hair plastered and the sweat running down us. You know the guys could have said something before they snap the pictures.
Gee, i think that photo should be next years billboard poster for sterling ! LMAO !!
Oh i would love a group photo. i have been saying that all along.
Yes, we need to get Doug in it too, and maybe some of the cast like our dear beloved queen.
Had a great weekend, went both days and had one of the best times ever at faire. Yes, it was hot and humid the first day, but heck, that part of the sterling experience right.
it was a great weekend. Had one of the biigest crowds there in a long time. We had a a few rowdy drunks, but overall the crowd was good.
I had fun playing Captain Amy. I was dressed in full pirate captain garb and had my sword, pistol, mug, and even a pet monkey, and the kids loved it.
We had a great time interacting with the crowd and cast members.
There is just something about that faire...the grounds, the enviroment..... ;D
and everyone , cast, workers, etc...are doing a great job of interacting this year.... alot more then in previous years.
Great faire, great people, good times, good memories.
Verily, thou mayest name me a sluggard, but I don't feel like re-reading every post in this whole blasted thread! :D
Can somebody clarify whether there's a planned get-together this weekend? If the weather holds as Jim Teske is currently predicting, we'll be heading to Sterling on Saturday (with a rain day on Sunday if the weather pulls a fast one). We've got some mundane neighbors tagging along, so I'm making myself a schedule of stuff I want to be sure we don't miss. We haven't been to Sterling on Highland Fling weekend in at least a decade, so I want to make sure we get to the Caber Toss and hear the pipers play.
If folks are planning a specific time/place to meet up, I want to wedge it into the schedule now so I don't forget. So what's the scoop?
Ok, then, I'll take that as a no. We'll be there all day Saturday, so by all means say hi if you see us.

originally there was suppose to be a get together for both days this weekend, then it got canceleld cause some people could not make it, but now i see some of the people who said they could not make it, are now coming to faire this weekend, so i don't know what is up either. If we are still getting together or not. I'll let y ou know if i hear anything.
Right now i'm planning on going tomorrow, so maybe i'll see you a round.
Terrific - I'll keep an eye out for you, Amy! Barring some major catastrophe, we'll definitely be there tomorrow (Saturday).
Didn't end up seeing anybody I knew (as far as I could tell - some of the profile pictures here are so tiny!), but had an absolutely terrific time today. The weather was perfect and the entertainment was top-notch as always. What a wonderful way to spend a summer day!
i was there ! They had a very good crowd though so we could have walked right by each other and not have realized it. :)
I was in my good green velvet court gown with the cletic cross pattern on it, since it wa s celtic weekend and my husband wore his kilt, which was so nice to see on him. :) My son had on his blue flat cap, noble shirt and blue vest.
But like I said it was crowded so we could have walked right by each other.
helmet all i remember seeing u in was a lamb hat ;D
:'( I just could not be there this past weekend!
I haven't been to faire much at all this season! Makes me sad and makes me mad as heck! >:(
I know I will be there the last day for sure, what a time to attend......the last day! :(
I am planning on being there this coming Sunday.
I have favors to still pass out.
Well, lets just say....... meet at the Rose & Crown at 2:30?
Plan on going this weekend. Not sure which day yet, but i shall see if i can make it sunday, weather permitting.
LOL Irish, now tell the truth now, you are just mad cause you did not get to do any kilt inspecting this past weekend ! LMAO !
Hugs girl !
Yes..that is why I was mad! No kilt inspections! ::)
I had my mirrored shoes, already to wear too! :o
LMAO! ;D
The weather has been great and this weekend will be perfect. Check out new Sterling Weather at sterlingfestival.com. Only two weekends left so tell your friends and family join in the fun. I sure am enjoying the festival this year. I really feel we are getting things dialed in! Two and a half more years of our five year turn around plan. Then five more years of expansion.
EXCELLENT!!!!! ;D

I will see you all this Sunday! We will get there about 1:00.
My camera batteries are all charged up for the group shot! 8)
Meet at Rose & Crown, @ 2:30? I need to have a pint with you all! ;)
It has just been such a bad faire year, with my brother scaring me, by getting sick and the damn car repairs!
It could be worse, I guess.
I know we are planning on going to Celtic Fest, the following Sunday.
(((((hugggsssssssssss))))) ;D
Ahhh now irish I must disagree, I believe it has been a good faire year. After all I got me hugs from you and captain Amy. Don't get any better than that. (Does the happy dance)

My family's done for the year, but we hope everyone has a terrific closing weekend! We had a fantastic time at the faire this year and look forward to next season. Hopefully we'll get to meet some of you folks in the future.
Xantrawler...I was so honored to meet you and Lillian.
Will I have the pleasure of seeing you both this Sunday?
Aaroncois......have a safe year and I do hope we meet somewhere along the shire, next year!
Unfortunately we are done with Sterling for the season. I have to work weekends the rest of thier season. We really missed Wolgemut this season. We are going to go to NYRF in September to catch them. We also plan on going to PARF when Albannach is in town. I hope we can make both, i honestly didn't connect with the music at Sterling this year. There just was not enough pipe and drum with a tribal sound for me. I also miss the aerial acrobats show which has not been there in 2 seasons. Hopefully they will all return in time. Other than that the faire is great and we always have a good time. Its only been a week and my wife is going through fried pickle withdrawals.
Duffy.....Wolgemut was soerly missed by a lot of people! I loved listening to them last year and watching them! Lordie what a show!
See you next year, since we never met up, this past year! LOL! :D
Wolgemut is definitely one of my favorites as well, I'd love to see them back at Sterling!
Alas, unless a (very strange and specific) miracle occurs, we won't be making it to Sterling at all this season :(
We may make it out for Screamer's Hollow, and we are planning a trip to PARF, so if any of you are planning to go to either, mayhaps I'll run into you there :)
;D see you all tomorrow for the last day...... :'( wahaaaaaaa
i will look for you at Rose & Crown about 2:30. we should arrive at faire, about 1:30.
smile :) for pics!
I saw Irish and Irish saw me! Huzah!
I was ex-haust-ed. completely and total exhaustion. the weekend was at least a month and a half long....but worth it.
Yes, you surely were 'dra~gon~ing' ::), last weekend!
Was good to see you!
:)
still am; dragging, that is. Body just is'nt up to the demands of the extra two days of work a week these days...
