Title: Oil Spill God Bless PCB
Post by: Lady Lil on June 12, 2010, 09:52:08 PM
What have we done to our natural beauty? White sand, blue seas no more.
You think we would have learned our lesson in 1989 on March 24th.
If Valdez didn't touch your heart the coverage sure did mine.
This is our home, our beaches, and our way of life!
The news of another oil spill, has cut me like a knife.
Fishing jobs are already lost.Tourism will soon be dead.
I think about the sea turtles who come to shore to bed.
I think about future generations, or will my son be that last to see,
the white sand and blue seas that God made for you and me.

I left Florida a day before it hit and wasn't sure how bad it was going to be.  Your poem tells me all that I need to know.  Tragedies may produce great poetry but I would trade all the great poetry in the world for a pristine shoreline right now.  Thank you, m'Lady.
