Title: Time to pick a weekend
Post by: Marietta Graziella on June 14, 2010, 11:16:11 AM
Ok Coloradians... It's crunch time.   If I'm going to make the trip to your beautiful faire this year I have to decide right now...
It's either this coming weekend or the final weekend.  I'm not even sure I can pull off this weekend but I'm willing to give it a go.

What are your thoughts?  Which is the better weekend?

Well this weekend is Fathers Day and Soldier appreciation and beer tasting
Last is Marde Gras

This weekend hopefully will be better than this past i.e. not so wet Last weekend MAYBE hot

Hard to say. I like all of them.

May i point out that we have a big group of R/F coming in this coming weekend to see our faire and might be a nice choice to meet not only the fellow coloradian R/f'ers but ones from other places.

For those that missed it was a wonderful time opening weekend even with the rain.

My recommendation would be for this coming weekend, MG.  The weather forecast is for sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70's or low 80's, with only a 10% chance of thunderstorms.  You are extremely unlikely to find a more favorable weekend weather-wise.  Go for it!

Well, it looks like this weekend is out for me unless something changes in the next 24 hours.   I will keep hoping that I can get things in place (house, child care, new garb ;)) for the final weekend.

Wishing you all a marvelous faire season!!!

We'll keep our fingers crossed for you.  Just remember that the final weekend is Mardi Gras, so be sure to pack your mask.

Not going to make it out this weekend.   :-\  Perhaps for final weekend, instead.

Sending hugs to all in attendance and safe journey to those traveling.

It's official!  Coming final weekend!  Whoot!

Am now looking for discount tickets, lodging (my previous location is full up; Pike's Inn), and friends!  Huzzah!

Usually no discount tickets that late in faire sadly but if we hear of any... you will know. Try locations in Castle Rock as it is 5 minutes from the grounds. And friends? Just look for us. we are all here waiting for another friendly face

King Soopers (local grocery store owned by Kroger companies) always has tickets for $15.95.

There is one in Castle Rock by the Sonic. Ask at your hotel, they should be able to point you there. And I would also recommend Castle Rock for Lodging. Close to Faire, close to Denver for an extended vacation.

Huzzah!  The Baroness and I are looking very much forward to meeting you, MG.

Lodging:  Most visitors stay in Castle Rock, about 15 minutes North of the festival site.  There is a Motel 6 (or Super 8, can't remember which), a Hampton Inn, and a Best Western.  About 20 minutes South of the site in the town of Monument is a brand new Fairfield Inn which, by all reports, is quite nice, but perhaps a bit pricey.

As for discount tickets:  The only discounts that we're aware of and that will be in effect for the final weekend -- usually one of the largest crowds of our season -- are the coupons available from King Soopers.  These will only save you $2 per ticket, but it's better than nothing.  If you wind up staying in either Castle Rock or Monument, there are King Soopers in both places very near the motels.

If there is any other information we can provide, feel free to ask.  I sure one of we locals will have an answer to nearly any question, and some of those answers may even be the correct ones!

Hey MG!  Lee and I stayed at the Super 8 in Castle Rock for $50 a night.  The rooms were pretty nice (new carpet and paint).  It was also close to the Interstate and Faire.

I was looking at the Staybridge extended stay suites down near the Air Force Academy but that looks to be waaay too far south.  Think I'll come back up toward Monument and Lake Palmer.

Am trying to get a couple of girlfriends to come with but they will likely only do faire 1 day and sight seeing the other.  Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak, etc.   We'd hit Denver on the Monday since I much prefer to book a late return.

*clapping*

Thank you all for the welcome and info!  Can't wait!

pst...  Spleen...   Holierthanthou...  Demetrius...?  You there?
Title: Re: Time to pick a weekend
Post by: Norfolk on June 27, 2010, 10:02:25 PM
MG,

The Staybridge Inns near the Air Force Academy would put you approximately 35-40 minutes from the Festival site.  That's more than I would care to drive, given closer options, but you now have the info upon which to make a decision.   ;)

Just about any place in Castle Rock will put you at about 10 minutes tops

Flights purchased!  Whoot!

A few questions...

Do you usually do any sort of dinners/gatherings the last weekend?
Could we arrange something for Friday, July 30th?  Would love to see everyone before fest to know faces for the weekend and introduce my friend to R/F hospitality.

are flasks (discreetly) allowed in the faire?
blades-as in bodice dagger?

Guess that was it.  Thanks everyone.  Am so very excited to enjoy your faire!

MG

Flasks = yes everyone does it as long as it is discreet
Bodice Dagger = As long as it is peace bound

I'd love to say yes on the food, but normally as far as I know we do not. We do have a Faire gathering a few weeks after. As for getting together, I'd love to but I am 1.5 hours north of the faire. Hopefully you can gather others to join you. I'm usually easyy to find as I am outside until they let me in, were as others are inside wanting to be let out.

There are usually many many dinner type things that last Sunday. Chili's, Red Robin, Applebee's and Black Eyed Pea in Castle Rock usually host some gathering of Rennnie types. Also, I suspect the Spur in Larkspur contains some Ren people too. Maybe the pizza place there. Yeah...

Holierthanthou, what booth are you working and will someone be able to point me your way so I can say hello?

Making final logistical arrangements this weekend then it's time to make any garb repairs, etc.

My friend, Trish, and I are interested in any pre/post fest activities that may be on tap.   We'll bring goodies from MN!!  Any requests?

Marietta,

Normally i am out front before the gates open just grab me and i can either show you where alot of the r/f people work or i can show you on the map. If Capt. Spleen dosn't work you can normally find him out front before gate also. Avan another R/F member can be found in front of the shop to the right of gates where people can rent garb.

Hmm of course there is the Baron that will be above the gate as royalty.

Thank you all for the wonderful reception!  Wheee!

If I wear the chartreuse (green) and purple outfit with epic hat, I will be very easy to pick out.   If I wear the teal and mustard with the very fun hat, I'll still be fairly easy to pick out.

I'll bring some Amber for the flask that weekend.  It's a treat for the tongue if you haven't tasted it before.   ;)

Tights, being hunted for (thank you for assisting!)
Now to choose what I'm wearing.  :-\

Chartruese green with epic hat or teal blue with fabulous hat?  Can't do both.  Hmmm...

MG - be sure to run up and down a flight of stairs 100 times a day to prepare your calves for the experience. I have never seen a faire which is really uphill both ways!!! We had a blast though! :)

I can't wait till Rendezvous next year.

Title: Re: Time to pick a weekend

I have been running, building my cardio and my calves.  Hopefully it will help at this faire!

I will be there on both days but am hoping to have a new outfit together in time to wear that one day and then an "old" outfit the next.  Still undecided.

Was there any news about the tights?  I think a couple people were checking the local shops for me.  Am still hoping for burgundy velvet.  *fingers crossed*  She can always wear the skirt in, then change at the booth if they do have them.  :D

Less than 2 weeks!

Still hoping to meet up with some R/F folks Friday night or get a recommendation for a good place for dinner/dancing or just shooting pool either in Denver or Castle Rock.  We plan to fully enjoy the whole weekend!

Any special requests from MN?

See you all soon!

BTW MG Lost Art leather in booth 78 has tights. They are multi colored and cost $65. They are straight up from the gate, When you get tothe Royal Pavilion you go left and follow it around. it sits in a nub on a hill. They are also a MRF vendor in booth 612 there.

See you there Saturday. not sure what i will be wearing or where i will be at. As Toki and I want a day toplay we may not do court as even the little we do on court eats up a lot of free time like gate show through 30 minutes after then joust for me at 11 - 12 then parade at 1 - 1:15. Wears me out and I cannot photograph like I want to. So we will see you and hae a safe trip here.

If you like Beer, I suggest ANYTHING from New Belgium. They are a local brewery in Ft Collins and are ranked in the top 5 brewery's in the US.

Not sure how I will be dressing. might be Katherine Parr (Burgundy with furr sleeves and french hood), May be Katherine of Aragon (Gold and green with Gabled Hood) or swashbuckler pirate (Burgundy and white with thigh high boots)

Dear CORF friends,
Trish and I can't thank you enough for your hospitality, friendliness, and welcome we received this weekend!
It was so much fun getting to meet so many of you face to face as well as get hugs from "old friends".
Your faire is beautiful and made even more so by the wonderful people that inhabit it.  When next you find yourselves in MN please let me know.  I would very much like to return your kindness.

Hugs to you all!

Skip, that picture is incredible!  I'd love for you to take all my photos!  Don't know what you did with MG and Trish, but we'd love to have a copy of these imposters!   ;)

Indeed, I've decided that after 6 seasons, I will not be returning to work next season.  Instead I'll be returning as often as I can from the other side of the gates, as it were.  Huzzah!

I wish I could take all your pics, you are a great subject  ;D  ;).  I have many more and will be going through the pics from last Saturday for a bit but shoot me a p.m. with your e-mail and I will send them to you and trish (most were of you but she's in quite a few) as soon as I get done processing them.

Again it was great meeting you and Trish, you really were fun to be around!!  Do try and come back next year.

Huzzah indeed!  The Baroness and I look very much forward to seeing more of you in the lanes next season.  Now, on to Santa Fe!

I'm so sorry I missed you, Adriana.  :-(    I was trying very hard to catch all the forum members, especially the ones that were working and couldn't get away to play.

It is my hope to make RenDezvous (crossing fingers you pick a weekend I can make!) next year.  Maybe even the hubby will be in country and will get to experience your beautiful shire.

Sorry I was out of it when you saw me.  The weather really did a number on me.  But next year for RenDezvous I will be in top form and fully stocked.   ;D

This will be my final post on your states forum... having visited and enjoyed I feel it is unnecessary for me to lurk here... however, I couldn't leave without offering a final thanks to all of you for your hospitality, your welcome (espeically of my non-ren friend, Trish!), and your friendship.

Huzzah to you all and I look forward to seeing you all again next year for RenDezvous!!!

Sincerely,
Marietta Graziella Stefana Luanna Giovana Luchetta di Polcenigo
