Not to be a parasite, but I was wondering if I could ask a favor of the fine ladies and lords of this board:
Would anyone be willing to act as my handler on this upcoming Father's Day Sunday?
Both of my handler are busy with mundane jobs unfortunately. All I would need is help dressing in the morning and aid with liquids throughout the day, although willingness to let me loiter occasionally would be lovely as there are devil children in these crowds. Of course on the flip side if anyone would like to come and play along I would be more than happy to have you!
I know it's a lot to ask, but I would love to catch the great weather this upcoming weekend and I can't go without a handler in some form or another.
Cheers! ;D
Oh darn how I wish that I was coming up there this year! I was a handler of sorts with you last year down at Palisaide at that Ravenshire Ren Faire. Anybody that can jump on it guys, it is so much fun to hang out with her and you get into all kinds of fun and interesting situations. By the way, Fireflicker, are you coming west this year?
I know! It's too bad that you could come down this year. And fun and interesting situtations is one way to put it- I'm such a bad dragon ;D
I'm going to Greeley this Saturday to the Colorado Medieval Festival because a friend told me that it was a lot of fun, and I want to see the other faires that Colorado can offer, but as far as I know I will be making it up to Palisade again- it was so much fun there! For you, be on the look out then for an upgraded dragon, and, if I can fit the time in, Retarded Pony will be making its first appearance...but I'm saying too much. ;)
OOOH. . . fun. Hey make sure to take a look at the website for the fair down here, I think that they have changed dates and location.
T'was a pleasure to meet you on Sunday! And thanks for the very cool Favor!
I do indeed beleive I would enjoy being your handler and improv-ing kiddie gaurd, and adult alike, as a Pirate owner of a Red Dragon. ("Ye seez wee wuns, it be like dis....I'm sailin' th' highest o' dark turbulent seas, whenst Outz th' carrrnaarrrr o' me good eye, i glance a sight a' first makz me tink o' albatross, when in fact........")
Well maybe another time?
I work Sundays at faire. And this past weekend I didna work either day.
If you ever need assistance on a Saturday except fer July 24th, I be yarrr Scurvy handler pirate man!
I would be honored to wander with a pirate of your stature! Thanks for the offer- it is so very much appreciated! If I come up with a Saturday without or even with friends I would be glad to have you along.
I enjoyed chatting with you after faire Sunday!
It was lovely to meet you as well! I'll have to stop by and get my face painted sometime ;D
*wonders what a red dragon would get it's face painted as*
A human, of course! What could possibly be more terrifying?
to be face painted to look like Captain Spleen
It seems like every time I see face painters I think about getting a spider web painted on my head. Hmmmmmm.... maybe this year will be the year ::) .

Oh! That's YOU! I mean, you are YOU! :-)
Please let me say how much we enjoyed your performance yesterday. You are *really* good and your costume is gorgeous. I posted a note of praise in my CMF review too.
My little one was head-over-heels about you. I'm going to bead her blue glass bauble into a necklace for her - it's her very first faire favor!

Oh, I just cannot WAIT for RenDezvous!!! Mistress Charlotte, we will definitely be budgeting a stop by your booth into our Faire savings... ;)
I hope also to be meeting a certain Red Dragon in all of our wanderings! :D

Got my camera - I'm game!
I was talking to my wife about all this and between giggles she's ok with whatever (ok might depend on price for a whole head piece of art!!!) you may want to do - gotta love that woman. So you just get your creative juices going and my blank palette is yours 8) - if it helps I kind of look like these smilies.

Sorry Lady Kett but I will only be at faire twice this year. I have been so busy that I haven't even been able to get together to meet Lady De Laney and have tea yet which I so wanted to do before this weekend. I will only be able to make it this coming weekend and closing day but I will get pics and post them afterword.

Of course not! The train represents your vast knowledge of course, emerging from your head to share your wealth of wisdom with the world! ;)

Ok well now I may not stop by to meet you cause reality will be like a train wreck compared to that :o!!!
As long as it's not the Celtic Legacy trainwreak... or the Iris and Rose ones from years past (Legacy was WAY late on Saturday and hardly got to perfore opening gate, rushing about, the one older drummer fallin on his arse at Toki's feet

Man I miss all the good stuff!
An invisible force helped him to his feet again. My back is still hurting.
Best!
Must note, in a thread divergence, that my toddler saw Fireflicker in the parade yesterday, recognized her friend immediately, set up a wheedling lament at Fireflicker's passing, tried to follow the parade, and had to be bodily restrained from stepping under a bagpiper.
So we'll have to get mighty serious about tracking down Yon Dragon next weekend. If anyone can tip me as to a favorite lair, I'd be most grateful.
Those bagpipers are dangerous! Stand too close and you'll never hear again...
The dragon tends to wander around the faire quite a bit, but can be occasionally found at the pirate's pub, the archery booth, and at the front gate at both opening and closing cannon.
Loved your crown yesterday!
T'were a playzure tamin' yarr scaly hide Sunday!
Fireflicker,
The Baroness and I would like to share an anecdote with you: Late in the day last Sunday we met a family with several children. All of the children except the youngest girl, who was probably three or four years old, wanted their picture taken with us. We happily accommodated them, then asked the youngest girl if she wanted a picture with us. She hid behind mummy. We tried to coax her, but nothing doing. Her mother, quite baffled, explained that this tiny girl was frightened of the King and Queen, frightened of the Nobles, terrified by the knights, and wasn't crazy about the fairies (except Twig) or Periwinkle the Unicorn. But she absolutely LOVED the "red dragon".
Thought you'd like to know. :D
Cheers,
Baron
Well I obviously did something wrong if I haven't driven you off yet! I'll have to work on being more needy. ;D
If there's any other weekend you would care to babysit the dragon PM me the dates please! I don't want to take advantage of any one person in the mornings more often than I have to.
Baron- She was frightened even of the people? That's surprising- Periwinkle I can understand because of the mask, which is also why a lot of kids are frightened of me even when I'm being nice. Some of the really little kids I meet are just enamored by me, which is kind of humbling. But thanks for the cute story! Kids can be adorable sometimes... and when they aren't they go well with BBQ sauce!
I do hope you'll be out to fest on the final weekend. I'll be coming from MN that weekend. I would very much like to meet you and have a chance to interact a bit. What fun!

The impression I got was that she was frightened of just about everything -- except you. Well done, Dragon!
Frightened child, squalling at scary dragon thing.
Professor calms child, summons dragon. Scritches dragon's chin. Dragon goes all limp and fuzzy.
Child reassured. Well-played, dragon.
Lines:
'They told you Tylenol was safe.'
'You should see her sister.'
'If she wants your turkey leg, I'd give it to her.'
Best!
I remember my first year performing at the Santa Fe faire (where there are 2 "house" dragons, as it were) giving out pirate treasure to the little ones and telling them that should they encounter one of the dragons, they should give them their treasure as the dragons like treasure even more than they like eating the "bite-sized" ones. Most of the children turned to their parents with an expression of, "dragon?! You didn't tell me there was going to be a dragon!"
I imagine there were a few instances of the house dragons being offered pirate treasure by small ones and having no clue why...
Oh, now that's funny! Well, I can't help but laugh, anyway... even though I'm sure as a parent I really shouldn't! :D
