This isnt anything against particular renaissance festivals, I am just curious. In my very limited experience I would of course list the MNRF! :D Next, and I dont know if this would count, Pennsic...
If you could pick just 4 to go to, which would they be? For my last two picks, I would prefer to go to a couple of the smaller midwest faires.
(Four is just a random number that came into my head. If I could go to them ALL I certainly WOULD! Road trips are in my future for certain. :D )
Sterling, because it's my favorite, TRF because it sounds so cool, PARF because I've heard really good things about it, and then maybe OKRF because it was one of the first faires I ever went to.
MNRF is a must and so is CoRF (awesome road trip and wonderful group of people!) - twig (MN) has an awesome small town fair - for my 4th - I would love to go to Scarby. I have heard some great things about and its been highly recommended to me on numerous occasions (Bristol too for that matter ;D but would be 5) I think it would be fun to try at least one different faire every year. This year I tried 2 different faires - Chippewa falls and CoRF. Loved them both!!!
My new 4 would be - Sterling, Scarby, Herstmonceux Castle Medieval Festival in England & Tønsberg Middelalderfestival in Norway.
I have already been to 47 others over my 34 years of performing or doing them, some no longer around -
Bristol Ren Fest (WI), Michigan Ren Fest (MI), Minnesota Ren Fest (MN), Iowa Ren Fest (IA), King Richards (WI), King Richards (MA), Pennsylvania Ren Fest (PA), A Renaissance Affair (IA), Arizona Ren Fest (AZ), Kansas City Ren Fest (KA), Audobon Ren Fest (WI), Milwaukee Highland Games (WI), Jubilee Ren Fest (IL), Ontario Ren Fest (Canada), Sarasota Ren Fest (FL), Greater Pittsburgh Ren Fest (PA), Stronghold Olde English Faire (IL), Hammond Castle Ren Fest (MA), Virginia Ren Fest (VA), Ren Fest of the Midlands (IA), Salisbuary Ren Fest (IA), Fargodome Ren Fest(NC), Dixon Ren Fest (IL), Grand Valley Ren Fest (MI), Texas Ren Fest (TX), Greater St Louis Ren Fest (MO), Maryland Ren Fest (MD), Viking Valhalla Gathering (IN), Port Washington Pirate Fest (WI), Viking Fest Ohio (OH), Silver Leaf Ren Fest (MI),Wisconsin Highland Games/Fling (WI), Shraibruk Medieval Festival (MI), Return to Camelot (WI), Cotswold Ren Fest (WI), Wisconsin Ren Fest (WI), Des Moines Ren Faire (IA), Waterloo Days Ren Fest (IA)Janesville Ren Faire (WI),Tennessee Ren Faire (TN), Georgia Ren Faire (GA), Mayfaire Ren Fest (MI), Dubuque Ren Faire (IA), Amana Colonies Ren Faire (IA), Fishers Ren Fest (IN), Medieval Mydsommer Ren Fayre (WI), Door County Ren & Fantasy Faire (WI)
Looking to Illinois Ren Faire as another new one this year and possibly Mid-Michigan

Just to name a few. Yes the first 3 are all in Texas but hey it is where I live.
My expanded list would include Colorado and Sterling.
MiRF

KCRF
there are others that we'd like to visit but the thread is the top 4.
TRF most definitely, I live for that place.
I've always wanted to go to the Maryland faire, I've heard good things
Colorado
And I'd love to go to a pirate festival on the east coast, I'm not quite sure which one though.
Are we talking about faires we haven't visited yet? Or are we including ones we've already been to? I'm going to assume the former. :)
I've already been to: Sterling, Scarby, TRF, Maryland, King Richard's, Tux, KCRF and Ontario, so I guess my next choices would be Colorado, Arizona, Southern and Minnesota.
Oh yes, Southern! I'm adding that to mine too ;D
Minnesoata
Arizona
Kansas City
TRF - one of these days
I would love to revisit the original Renaissance Pleasure Faires in both Northern and Southern California back in the mid-1970's!
I would love to go to Sterling in present times, Bristol, Scarby and would like to see the new Sherwood Forest Faire for ones I've not yet been to.

Mental note to myself and Noble Dreg: whilst not selling shoes, construct a TARDIS so Nickie can get her wish. We're scarce on police boxes, so a priv will have to do. Got it! ;) ;D

I'm not sure if I should be pleased or not...But it's the thought that counts, right?
Sterling......my home faire, have to be boasting! ;D(hey! you all come visit us!)
Pennsylvania....to see the winery! :P
Maryland...was there a very long time ago, enjoyed the buildings and the setting! :)
Scarby....to see blue and the gang! :D
MDRF, which has so many things to enjoy
VaRF, because I love the small faires with wonderful casts
Sterling, because it just sounds wonderful
Sherwood Forest, because the owner seems to have a good outlook on faires and I want to see what he has produced.
VARF - Because that is where I'm on cast and LOVE the faire

BARF for that weekend. ;) I always have so much fun there, many lovely freinds there, and I LOVE the Queen there! ;D
All Hallows at TRF. It's an event unto itself and soooo many goode friends there!
Colorado RF - I haven't been, but am sooo curious. Besides I just LOVE Colorado and Manitou Springs, the journey up Pike's Peak on the cog railway, horseback riding through the Garden of the Gods, and golfing at Glen Eagle. The views are SPECTACULAR! Rendezvous 2011 will provide the opportunity. Lots of friends there too!
And PARF - I've heard it's a beautiful faire at a gorgeous tyme of year and has a wonderful cast.
And since rules are merely guidelines to me - Carolina RF - PACKED with top acts and lots of wondermous friends there!
