Found some hotels within budget in Bloomington, and it seems that's not too far from Shakopee. However, it also says Bloomington is where the airport is. Has anyone had experience with staying in that area? Is it noisy with all the planes overhead?
Trying to find something in the $50-$55 range that is in a safe area. Doesn't have to be the Ritz, just safe and clean.
Thanks! ;D
Bloomington is BIG, most of the hotels by the airport are big bucks but are far enough away that you will not be bothered by the noise. Another city with descent hotels near the Fest site is Eden Prarie. Both are near the Metro so there is more to do before/after fest.
There is a 3 star in Channhassen just north of Fest for 66 bucks a night, weekend rate. See if thi link works for you...

I am sure probably the closer the better but if you dont mind a bit of distance, New Prague or Jordan (small towns) might be worth checking out. We are two hours away from MNRF, leave early and always stop for breakfast in Jordan.
I can definitely understand wanting to stay in a safe area.(When we went down to my daughters navy graduation by chicago we ended up in a hotel that was kind of iffy!!!)
We are staying in Chaska, which is quite close to faire (as long as the bridge stays open :) )
Bloomington sprawls out quite a ways beyond the footprint occupied by the airport, so there's certainly places where noise would not be an issue. I don't believe there are really many (or maybe not any) late night flights out of MSP, first flights aren't until around 6ish usually either.
You might want to look into staying at Mystic Lake. Being a casino, the hotel is generally pretty inexpensive, and it's only a 10-15 minute drive from the fest grounds. There are also hotels in shakopee. The Mid America Festival office is in a hotel right off of 169 & canterbury road. Just a few miles north of the grounds.
Myself, I'll be in the participant campground.. most likely right next to Bacardi & Muffin again if they're camping again this year. :)
Hehehe...3 R/F tents in a row again ;D

This is where we've stayed and love it! They usually include 2 tickets for the faire when you rent a room, mention it when you reserve a room!
Not sure what weekend you're looking at, but I've been checking Priceline.com for opening weekend and the Fairfield Inn by Marriot is currently $55/night plus they're giving away a $20 Target giftcard per stay as well.
Actually, Priceline has a few in Eden Prairie that are $55 or less. I like EP it's closer than Bloomington, and no airplane noise either.
Plus, Eden Prairie was just voted the #1 city in the country on some list.
(Knocking out my hometown down to #11...)
EP is very nice, lots of shops and places to eat when you aren't at fest, too.

We have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express off crosstown, which has a "ren package". There is also a pretty good wine shop and eatery in the same parking area.

That's right! Forgot that was you on the other side.. :D
I'm tucked away by the quarry with lots of trees and shade...and now Hanns has the ingenious idea to put up camo netting to block some of the morning sun but still allow airflow... He's such a smarty pants...
We have a room at our daughter's, which is in Eden Prairie off 169 South.
Did you try the Super 8 in Shakopee, Renee, to see if they have rooms in your price range??
