Well with gas as it is... what you do ride or drive to to save gas, or drive just because?
Since I live close to where I work I have a little scooter only 50cc. Love riding it and have my tail hanging off the back.
I get 70 mpg and get to park close to the doors at work.
I wish I drove something to save gas....my Jeep is the anti-gas lol. Althought I been looking at those scooters fondly the last few months :D
Two things actually
My main vehicle to get me to work and back only A 1993 Toyota T-100 pickup. but my favorite is my 2003 Canteen color 4X4 XTerra with X-Gaia plates
NHow leets see how many of you can get the meaning of XTerra with X-Gaia plates.
Unlike mother earth above I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty 4x4 Sport...with much bigger than normal tires..so..EXTRA less gas
I drive a Civic because it gets pretty good mileage, but I actually rarely drive it. Usually I ride the bus to work.
I drive a terribly ugly (XD) 1993 Pontiac Sunbird. It's a bit of a junker, but it gets fairly good gas mileage...so it's totally worth its ugliness.
We have an '04 Aztek. Not the greatest on gas, but awesome cargo space and (when we drive) we spend about 90% of our time on the highway.
Unfortunately I'm stuck with my F150. I love the truck, but the mileage SUCKS! I drive 30 miles one way to work. Keeping my eyes out for an alternative.

Yay for VW Bugs!
I drive an Silver 01' VW Bug, which is doing pretty good on gas.
95 Toyota pu, bout 26 per gallon. 02 Buell M2, just under 60 mpg if carefull, 56 if havin' fun :D

I know that feeling as I drive almost 40. Lucky for me my T100 gets 20 to 23MPG pretty good for a pickup. My XTerra only gets 18 or so. Only drive it on weekends and when I have to to work
'06 Suzuki LS650 for day to day, about 50 mpg with my heavy hand.
'08 Ford E-150 cargo van for Faire, 14 mpg, ouch! But the space is wonderful, ask everybody that drank out of it at Scarby.

Hooray Air Cooled!!!
For fun in the sun we drive the '73 Thing - Punkin Orange of course!
Somewhere there's a picture....
I rolled my little beater so now I drive a '93 ford ranger. It gets about 25 mpg and I only drive 10 miles for school but jason lives about 45 miles away so driving that a couple times a week sucks.

Our minivan with the good gas mileage blew up before TRF last year, so now we drive a '99 Ford conversion van with the same 14 mpg, ugh. But the good news is we work from home, so other than trips to buy food we don't have to use it much until faire time, then we absolutely love it!
My '97 Grand Marquis gets pretty decent (IMO) mileage for a car its size- around 22 mpg. I'm lucky to have an 8 mile commute, too - much better than the 40 mile drive I left for my current job. Best part is, she's paid for and runs well.
'05 Saturn ION
30 mpg which is great till you add in the 73 miles I drive daily to get to work and back! :'(
Me wants a Honda Hybrid or anything that gets over 45 mpg!!!!
i take public transportation everywhere or i walk/bike
and if its long distance (more than 50 miles) i take greyhound
I have a 2007 Honda CRV. It gets 24 to 25 miles to the gallon, which isn't too bad for an SUV I think. It's an ultra low emission vehicle which I like about it. I drive very little right now, though, so gas isn't bothering me yet. I'll get my due in the fall though when I start work.
On the island I walk almost everywhere; however, I did just purchase a Mitsubishi Lancer which I will use for grocery runs, etc. When I'm at work I drive a 32' Beachcat with dual 250 hp engines. Here in the states I ride my 2003 Nighthawk 750 (Honda) when I can.
With gas prices, I now wish I had a smaller vehicle but I drive a 2006 Jeep Commander and my hubby a 2005 Jeep Rubicon...both extreme gas guzzlers and we work 36 miles r/t..bummer
Up until now, this has been my dream car...I even had one for about 10 years...
But awhile back after going to Canada, I found a new love...even saw one today.
And this is my current ride...wish it got better mileage. Still love to drive it, though.

My most recent and favorite ride...

What I hope to pick up tomorrow...

I drive an '04 Mazda 3 hatchback. It gets amazingly good gas mileage. I do wish mass transit around here was easier and more accessible, because despite the good gas mileage I would still like to cut back a little, not only on gas money but to give my car a few extra years. Alas, we have yet to jump on that bandwagon yet, haha.
Also have an old CJ-7 jeep, more rust than metal, but was my first new car. Got a Ford ranger for long hauls and a Jeep Cheerokee for caving and getting inside storeage.
Wuld love a VW bug tho. Just cause.
I drive a 2008 Kia Spectra 4 door Sedan. It gets about 24 to 27 mpg in the city, which is good.
I have a F-150 SuperCrew (4door) that gets about 17-18 mpg. I'm one of the lucky ones bacause
I only drive .9 miles to work. If it get to bad I can walk to work.
Had a 1995 Wrangler that I sold recently and I still have a 2003 Jeep Liberty freedom Ed. that LD drives most of the time. I am drive her 2003 Neon.
Liberty 17 mpg
Neon 28 mpg
Thankfully the rogue and I work at the same place. He works one end of the complex me the other so we car pool. Yes we pay a little higher rent but we live 2 miles from work. Back in April we picked up 2 50cc honda scooters. We kitted them out with trucks, and windsheilds. We have been getting 100mpg since.
We take them to the grocery store, walmart, mall, the train station. Yes we get laughed at by the guys in the Hummers, and on the big Harley's but we like them. Mine was used from Califonia and is cream with Hot pink Hybiscus on the fenders. Hey if you are going to ride a girlie bike go all the way, so my helmet is pink, and so is my jacket. Hey at least you can see me on the road.
There was an NPR article my husband read that said that in NY, San Fran, and some other larger cities the dealers can't keep scooters in stock. With such good gas mileage, and only needing a drivers liscense for the below 125 cc it is a great option. With payments + insurance it is cheaper than paying for gas.
The vehicle we use when we make long hauls or carry alot of stuff is our 2007 Ford Focus. We bought it on New Years eve so got a sweet deal on it, and it get's 30mpg. Thankfully the worst we have to do is a 50 mile round trip to a theater and back delivering costumes. And now we are finding we can take the train in so that is only a 12 mile round trip.
A friend of ours had a leather worker put special straps on his bike's saddle bags. That way he can take his swords to Ren faire's with him. It is the only way he can get there with the gas prices so high. He can't afford to take his RV.
I have a 2001 Olds. Alero. It gets about 23 mpg, I think. Its mainly used to get me back and forth to work so its fine for that. I'm close to 100K miles and hoping it will make it another year and be paid off. :D I would love a hybrid but don't know that I have the credit to buy a new vehicle at a decent monthly payment.
My hubby has a 2004 Ford Explorer Sporttrac, which gets about the same mileage as my car! We use it for most of our running around and travel since my hubby is more comfortable in it. The only bad thing about it is that U-haul won't rent a trailer to us because it's technically an Explorer. >:(

Don't let the mileage be scarin' ye. Keep the oil clean, the timing belt fresh, radiator flushed and the beast should run over 200k. Me wifes crackerbox '92 went 285k before the unibody fell apart, motor still runnin' great. Me '95 Toyota has 270k and runs fantastically fer a pick-up that has been thourghly abused ;D over the years.
Even though she is currently air-cooled and the back driver-side window is stuck in the half-way down position, I love my 40mpg Kia Sephia...but the stick shift is still a b*tch sometimes....

If it was a Toyota or a Honda, I wouldn't be worried! But I've had a bad experience with another Olds. in the past...
Well the two main modes of transport are my 2005 PT cruiser convertible, which I bought in anticipation of going to S.C. for a contracting job and I did not think my 84 Chrysler LeBaron T/C convrtible would take the constant drive back and forth on weekends. However it looks like the contracting job is not going to materialize so...................... My wife drive a 2003 Honda Element which we both love, especially with the rear suicide doors makes getting in and out a breeze, especially for those of us that are size enhanced. Those are the major modes, then for the occasional trip to the auto shop to drop off or pick up one of the cars that I am restoring I have a 92 Dodge Diesel 1 ton Dually pickup that hauls my car trailer . For recreation and/or when I can afford it again we have a 1994 29' class c motorhome. We just finished a trip to St Louis to attend the faire there. That will no doubt be the last trip with that rig at least until November when we have to go to Mobile for the Gulf Coast faire. As for the afore mentioned antique cars: 3 Packards, 2 Dodge Dart Convertibles, 1 1956 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer 4 dr hardtop, and for sale(yeah right) 1 1964 Dodge Dart Convertible and 1 1962 Dodge Dart 440 4dr sedan. That does not include a few parts cars around the area that I am taking parts off of.
1997 Ford Taurus SHO (V8) - great for trips at about 28mpg, but only 14 or so city. I only live a few miles from work, maybe I'll just buy a bike...
I have a 2006 Toyota Prius Hybrid and average 50.2 to 51 MPG. I have to say, once gas reached even $2.50 a gallon was my cut off and i was an SUV guy for many years. I researched these for a long time and after about a 3 month wait back then I got it. It is a good size and has storage like my blazers did. In the city under 40 I can keep it on electric most of the time. My last trip up north last weekend for rehearsal 4 hours away and then back I got 50.7.
Sir Clisto
'03 Caddy Deville for me at ~28mpg on the highway and 19mpg in town (not bad for a 300hp engine) and a '04 Dodge Dakota 4x4 for the wife at ~16-18mpg no matter what.
my poor truck goes everywhere i would carpool but with my job i float and i would be switching carpool partners weekly at time no thianks
2001 Volvo V70 T5 (wagon)
Not bad, 25-30 highway (depending on my urge to accelerate), about 20 city.
I love my truck, unfortunately it also loves gas...lots and lots of gas...
I drive a 2003 Ford F250 with a V10 ... nuf said
Yeah, it's a gas-guzzler but you can't pull a horse trailer, livestock trailer or lowboy trailer loaded down with over 150 bales of hay with a car or a hybrid... and just last weekend it came in real handy to haul mulch in for the flower beds. Plus, I drive less than 5 miles to get to work, less than 5 miles to church, less than 5 miles to the grocery store, less than 1 mile to WalMart and my son rides the school bus. There are advantages to living in a small town. Going to faire though, well, that can get expensive...
I drive a 2001 ford ranger, 20ish miles to the gallon and thankfully only a 10 minute drive to work.
Last year the drive was about 45 miles each way and the gas was killing me then... I can only imagine what it would be like now...
The Lovely Lady Trinn drives a Scion XB and LOVES it, gets about 27-28 on average and has enough room inside to store gear for 7 people camping at fair and still have room for 3 to sit comfortably.
When we were shopping for her car, we honestly looked at those two factors the most... gas mileage and how much ren-gear we could hold in it.
*the rum only takes up one bin for a weekend so it counts as part of the ren gear too*

Hey that's my 91 Caprice Classic behind wenchies bug, ceptin mines white &silver. I haven't put much gas in it since I bought this 93 Suzuki 800 which I have driven to work daily and it only costs me 14 bucks to fill it with high test every week, can you say sweeeeeet!

'99 Metro. Yes, it's barely bigger than I am & tends to be draggy when my son rides with - it's okay w/one fat person, but is distinctly offput by two. It's also got a lot of room in the back if you put the seat down.
I ride a 2000 model Dutch Warmblood gelding, mahogony bay w/ 4 white socks, great over fences!... LOL, ok ok.. that's what I rode today.
But seriously, to get from point A to B: 2005 Saturn Vue, 4 cyl standard shift. It gets about 28mpg, so I get pretty good mileage and GREAT cargo space! However, I'm driving so much lately that I'm going to be getting my old Honda motorcycle out to drive to/from the barn and some to school. Just need to get a new helmet... Mine is seriously icky.

As for my ride...demm again not in John's Inn ... I drive a 97 Silver Ford Crown Vic affectionately known as the G unit and now it has a/c again...woohoo. Parked for the last 2 years is my sled...94 Green Chevy Camaro...she needs a new motor, a/c fixed, battery, headliner fixed and I'm sure a few more thin's. I love that car, I wash her on car wash days and it's not even the one I drive!
We actually own 4 vehicles, though we only really drive 2 of them. We have 2 at our home and the other 2 on my parents farm.
'07 Toyota RAV4....26 MPG
'01 Dodge Intrepid...24MPG
'87 Ford F-250...MPG's....don't ask!...My hunting truck...
'81 Pontiac Firebird...MPG's...don't care, its my high school car!
Looking at maybe trading the Dodge in on a new Hyundai Santa Fe....We'll see, though....
traded in an04 Pontiac Grand Prix that got 24-26mpg for an 08 chevy cobalt that gets mid 30's. Not the new car of my dreams but it will do.

I went to buy a Saturn Vue today and wound up coming home with this...

noble dreg, that's not a saturn vue ha ha
Filled up the scooter. Well topped it off because I don't trust the gas gauge.
In one week 50.5 miles and used .447 gal. Had to pay $1.90 for gas.
That's over 100 mpg. Sweet. ;D
Good weather all week, I'm scooting.
Running to the market is rather limited on it tho. Had to turn around to pick up the bread that bounced out of the bag in the basket. All you can do in laugh and go pick it up from the middle of the four land you crossed. :o

'03 (I think) honda Accord, silver. His name is Jakob, and he has a sticker that says "Póg ma thoin" on the back windshield. :D
I get about 23 mpg going to work and school. That is essentially around town, I don't take the freeway. I go to and from school too close to rush hour.
2007 Toyota Sienna minivan!
I love it! Lots of room for hauling stuff, sleep in it for camping, gas is about 26 city, 28 highway.
Before buying we asked our mechanic what kind of car he recommend and he said anything Toyota. Virtually no major problems and he's right. Except for the usual up keep, oil and stuff, no problems.
I stand by Toyota.
My next ride will be a Toyota Tacoma ext cab. Used of course. Sorry I'll let someone else take the price bit up front.
They seem to run and run and run.
I work a a place that makes the seat frames and rails for Toyota. You'd be surprized at what it takes to make the seats slide and recline.
Well, for the past 7 years, it's been a Saturn SL2... nothing special...
