Title: My Mom!
Post by: Pat McGroin on July 30, 2010, 11:20:46 PM
I'm gonna need some healing thoughts and some warm prayers for my mom.
Next Thursday she is going in the hospital to get a pacemaker put in, I'm not sure
if this is going to be a major or minor thing??  but it is freaking me out some ...................... OK a lot.

Sending lots of prayers and healing energy her way, and I will be keeping your family in my thoughts, my friend.  When my grandmother got her pacemaker many years ago she immediately began to feel better, literally as soon as she woke up, even though she had just been through surgery, so it could very well be the best thing they can do for your mom right now.  Grandma had her pacemaker for over 20 years, and it really did give her new vitality, so try to have faith that it will do the same for your mom!

Pat, while no surgery is minor, this shouldn't be too bad. As someone speaking from experience on the heart surgery, she will feel a whole lot better when she gets on the other side of it.

I had open-heart surgery in `96 to replace a bad valve. That was on a Thursday. I was released on Sunday, and on Monday, I walked a mile—albeit very slowly, after all, they had to crack my chest and open me up wide to do their work. The difference in the way I felt was astounding.

We're sending positive energy to both of you.

thank you Merlin, glad to see that your surgery was a success. They say that the implant of the pacemaker is a small surgery and she would be home the next day but this is my mom they're working on and I'm still worried.

I was sure it would help her to start feeling better pretty quickly!  You might have to watch that she doesn't over do things for a while, because she'll be feeling so much better now that her heart is being regulated better that she might think she can tackle the world!  Awfully glad she's feeling so much better already, my friend, and glad that some of that weight has been lifted off your own heart...  :)

Glad to hear that all went well. It's amazing how quickly the effects become apparent after such procedures!

Update:

Mom and her new found friend the pacemaker has become great friends, her heart rate has a little more than doubled in a week.
Her heart rate has jumped from 30-35 to 70-75. With those numbers, a large weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers

Oh, how wonderful!!!  That's a perfect rate, and very healthy.  I can imagine she's feeling better than she has in years, at this point!  I'm so glad everything has gone so well for her, Pat... and that you can relax a bit now.  I know how worried you've been about her these many months, and with everything else that's going on... to have your mom recovering so well must really ease your mind.  I'm so happy for you both, my friend!  :)
