Okay, we're within the extended forecast period of opening weekend... time to start discussing the weather like good little Minnesotans!!
Good news! At least at this point, it looks like things will cool off in time for opening weekend:
Accuweather says:
Saturday, 8/21: Mostly sunny, high of 76
Sunday, 8/22: An afternoon shower, high of 75
I don't know about you all, but I can deal with an afternoon shower on Sunday if it's not as beastly hot and humid as the last 2-3 weekends!
And for those of us who will be out at site next weekend, it's not looking too bad, especially Sunday for All Cast:
Saturday, 8/14: A possible thunderstorm, high of 84
Sunday, 8/15: Mostly sunny and nice, high of 79
Of course this is all subject to change fifty times between now and then since the weather geeks never know.
But here is to hoping. I LOVE the forecasts as they are!!!
Dress Press is going to be tropical! But hopefully they are right for All Cast Rehersal and it is nice.
I am hoping it is slightly cooler opening weekend than it has been! I am not looking forward to wearing my garb in 90 degree heat. :P I should have picked lighter weight fabrics! I was way to caught up in finding the right colors and not in the fabric weight. Oh well! Here's too a fantastic weekend! See you all on Thursday and Sunday! ( Well Sunday anyways) ;D
Wow... I hope Charlottes weather people are the right ones...
My weather page says opening day 94°F 74°F and the next day not much better... .seriously hope that it is a 7 not a 9 in the front there...

Which one are you looking at? Intellicast and the NOAA don't have the weather that warm at all.
WeatherChannel.com:
Saturday - High of 80F, Low of 64F & Scattered Thunderstorms (40% Chance of precipitation)
Sunday - High of 82F, Low of 65F & Scattered Thunderstorms (60% Chance of precipitation)
Accuweather.com:
Saturday - High of 83F, Low of 64F & Mostly Cloudy (2% chance of thunderstorms)
Sunday - High of 85F, Low of 63F & Sunny (2% chance of thunderstorms)
weather.msn.com:
Saturday - High of 77F, Low of 58F & Thunderstorms (60% chance of precipitation)
Sunday - High of 78F, Low of 51F & Showers (70% chance of precipitation)
Intellicast.com:
Saturday - High of 80F, Low of 66F & Scattered Thunderstorms (40% chance of precipitation)
Sunday - High of 82F, Low of 66F & Showers (60% chance of precipitation)
So there ya go. It'll probably change a hundred times between now and then of coarse.
Can we combine the accuweathers chance of rain with the weather.msn.com temperatures?
It has to rain opening weekend.. It's tradition!!! We must have our lake front property at Foaming!! ;) LOL!
Ta Da!! (opening weekend 2007, fest actually closed early that day.... It was okay though.. we had beer! HA!)

Althought I do like the idea.
/swoon ... your high temps are lower than our low temps right now.
Please please please stay that way for a few weeks! (Or get cooler even!!) :)

Lady Kett, when are you coming to MN?! *clapping excitedly* I love out of town visitors!!!
Labor Day weekend, MG. We are really looking forward to it!
Damn damn damn! Everyone is visiting on Labor Day weekend! Grrr! I never make Labor Day weekend. We have long standing camping plans that weekend. Boo hiss!
Well, I'm sure the rest of the MN folks will make you feel welcome.
In a rare and baffling agreement of disparate computer models, both AccuWeather and The Weather Channel are currently predicting sunny skies and highs around 80 for both days of opening weekend. ;D
BOOO MG...I'm there labor day weekend as well!! grrr I wanted to see you! Oh well...plans are adrift to get me up again before season is up...ill keep ya posted...
Scratch the earlier post. They're back in wild disagreement. AccuWeather says hot and humid, Weather Channel says warm and pleasant. Either way, it's a party. :D

Yaaayyy! I don't mind a little rain, but although the wash-out weekend a couple years ago was fun, I prefer sunshine. :) Especially with my flute out there.
Just checked a couple of sites... they agree on 85 and sunny/partly cloudy... no mention of rain!!!
Channel 5 tv news said 90 and humid for Sunday. I hope that isn't true.
I'm seeing 90 both days now. No doublet for me!
weather.com is saying 90 on Sat. and 91 on Sun.
weatherunderground.com is saying 85 on Sat. and 88 on Sun.
bleh..... it's gonna be a sticky hot gross opening weekend..... :P
I hope the bodice chiller lady is ready!!!! ;) I needs some ice!!
Noooooo!!! I already feel like my fairy costume looks like I've stuck itty bitty wings on an elephant (nothing spritely, ethereal, or light and graceful here right now) add sweaty and swollen and I just may end up in mundanes for the weekend.
Ahhhh. Minnesota weather. Always gives us something to talk about.
Looks to me like there's perfect fest weather in the forcast. ;D I'm thirsty already.
I'm just super happy and excited and cant wait and. . . and. . .you get the point.
The latest forecast for this weekend is why I wish Fest opened on Labor Day Weekend every year and ran into October! I So HATE hot and humid it is not even funny. I would much prefer being at Fest on a 60 degree day then a 90 degree day any day!...It's a good thing I have hot weather garb now!...LoL
Even with that, on a hot and humid day we will be gone by 1 or 2 pm.....
I am with you Me. Bring on the Fest!!!
What's a little heat? Beats the heck out of cold!

I concur! My poor little hands turn the same color as my pants if it is 60 out... not the best for the bubble fairy.

Say you are a melting ice/snowman fairy... and just throw lots of water on yourself to make you look like you are really melting...
I guess I am a TRUE Minnesotan!....LoL
The cold don't bother me in the least. I much prefer it to the heat any day. In fact I'd much prefer strolling the lanes at Fest with a gentle snow falling then I would on a 90 degree day any time. I guess I am just that cold blooded.
Take the heat and go south! We don't need that hot weather stuff up here in the north, I say!...LoL
I was born in July... on a 95 degree day... ;) hence this True Minnesotian will freeze fast!
But snow would be interesting.. I might make myself a back up costume... someone said when it snows I go from Jewel the Water Faerie to Krystal the Ice Faerie... I should probably prepare for that... as Minnesota is doing her best to display her widest possible range of temperatures to us this year! And I guess for the sake of everyone else I would also like it to be cooler... the water will be going fast!
I would rather have heat then pouring rain....
A tad warm for my tastes, but survivable with the right amount of cold beer... ;D
that's just too hot to even drink, I would get sick. Besides I will be consuming large quantities of water since I will be giving blood that morning.
I know it has snowed at Fest before, saph. But, I believe that was many years ago. I remember talking to a couple of vendors, who have been at Fest since it began, once who were telling me about it.
I am with you Sleepy. When it's that hot, beer don't even taste good. My guess is I will have a couple in the morning before the heat sets in, then drink nothing but water for the rest of the day.
I am sure we will be out of there early too. Gin likes the heat a lot more then I do, but not in garb. She doesn't really have anything that is good for warmer weather so usually wants to get out of there early when the temperatures rise!....
Channel 9 this morning said 88 Saturday, 90 Sunday

I am right with you on that one Storm! Bring on the cold and the snow. It would be awesome.
I prefer the cold as well. Of coarse what could you expect from someone that was born & raised in the Ice Box of the nation.
All right, that's quite enough bandying about of the dreaded "s" word, and I'm not talking about "sweltering"! I'm by no means ready for the white stuff yet! :o

*goes into his backyard to gaze at his snowmobile*
I have to agree, I like da cold. I can always put on more clothes but the other is somtimes frowned upon.
I have to admit, I'm hoping for cool (low to mid 70s) weather Labour Day weekend. I'd like to dress up a bit for the royal wedding hoopla.
I would rather go for the "snow" than the "sweltering" as well! :)
That said, I am excited for the first weekend, whatever the weather. :)
Stop saying SNOW!!!!
NO Beer for YOU!!!
I want something other than beer. ;D But I wont say the S word again. At least for a few hours.... :)

Huzzah Muffin!
Stop saying that nasty word! This is MN and the weather can change in a blink of the eye - however, it happens to be hot this weekend I'm ok with it - I just want faire to start! ;D :D

I agree!! While upper 80s and 90s is WAY TOO HOT for Fest, I'd much rather be too warm than too cold, so I'll take it.
Crazy people, I can always put a cloak on when it's too cold, or long underwear under my trews, but you can only take so much off when it's hot.

As long as the 'R' word doesn't come into play, I'm good with Faire Weather...
My Mocs don't take kindly to Muck
I forecast a marvelous weekend with friends, new and old, and having a helluva good time no matter what the weather.
Can I get a "HUZZAH!"
;D
HUZZAH!
24 hours! I can't wait... Still over here in chicago... I will only have been in town for 14 hours before fest starts and won't have seen my real bed in 7 days! I am SO EXCITED! Even after my fight with managment... I still love all my peeps who are out there with me
Just a note: if you wanna know if there will be site access after a rain check out my twitter. I will post if there is no site access and you can re-tweet it.

You'd better come over to the booth so I can at least meet you face to face after you've googly eyed my avatar for so long. ;) ::) ROFL!!
Course, I won't be wearing that outfit this weekend. :) Too hot.
It certainly is hot ::)

It was good meeting you at the Stein. Sorry we did not make it to your booth, but we will next time.
Oh my my, yes, it was a warm one, wasn't it? I still say hot is better than cold though-- even if I do wear long underwear and a cloak, I will be too cold. In hot weather, I can put ice down my bodice, get misted, use cold cloths on my neck and drink a lot of ice water and Gatorade. In the cold.... I can freeze. :P
But we made it! Hopefully next weekend will be a bit milder!
Lord Phelyp! Hello Dah-ling! *waving enthusiastically* Damn and blast! Another friend that I won't get to see on Labor Day weekend! I can not attend that weekend. :'(
Gauwyn of Bracknell, huzzah! Great to meet you, briefly, too! So many friends, so little time. LOL
A wonderful opening weekend for me! Much laughing and a little bit of working. So much fun getting to see old friends and meet a few more R/F peoples. ;D
