Title: Gladiator and POTC Music??
Post by: ladybootlegger on September 06, 2010, 05:11:54 PM
So, Gladiator was on TV the other day, and it was during one of the many fight scenes in the big arena. Suddenly, I noticed that the music was awfully familiar. It sounded 98% like the music in POTC. Has anyone else noticed this?

I think the composer is the same, and he uses similar themes...

lemmie check...

ok, Hanz Zimmer did Gladiator, but Klaus Badelt did POTC1...

and then Hanz Zimmer has done the subsequent 2!

he also did Last Samurai, Sherlock Holmes, and The Dark Knight

Not only did he use the same themes, he basically lifted the score almost entirely from Gladiator for use in PotC.  It is even in the same key most of the time.

The score for 'GLADIATOR' is one of Hans Zimmer's BEST! I am still pissed that he did not win the Academy Award for it. That was 10 years ago. 'GLADIATOR' is one of those films thqat does not get old no matter how many times you see it. Made Russell Crowe a house hold name. Talk about an actor who becomes the role!
