Title: MNRF 2010 Progam Guide

I've got a couple of observations about the 2010 Program Guide:

1) DeadBishop and his cohorts have a booth called "Willing Soles", but in the "Merchant Marketplace!" section of the Program Guide, there's a listing for "Heart & Sole" at Booth #139.

2) Several Merchants' Booth numbers are listed as 1000+, but the Faire Map doesn't show any areas with numbers higher than 847.

3) There's no mention of "Twig" or her booth, just a photo of her in the collage on the front of the Guide.

4) Somehow they forgot to mention that there's now a Renaissance Sports Bar with Big-Screen Televisions.  ;)

I can answer # 1 for you...Willing Soles is also Heart & Sole, we combined forces over two years ago...The signage above the booth is Willing Soles as it has been for years and is the name most people know at MN for the product we make, we need to make a new sign eventually.

#2: thats just silly doesn't anyone check it for correctness... :P

#3 maybe they just don't want to swamp her booth with every person for 300 miles around? or they don't check the book for correctness :P

#4I think they should be ashamed... didn't anyone check the book for correctness?

There are more errors in there, too. It says Alyssa Moffit is demonstrating painting in booth 110. She was only there one year and that was several years ago. It has since been Sherwood Games or something along that line. It's across from my shop in the front. Jon Anderson Pottery is now named Sunny's Pottery.

All of the shoppes in the 1000+ range are the booths & tents that are not attached to the normal booth lines.  Such us the booths/tents by Bear Stage & the Pony.  Also seeing an A or a P next to a booth number indicates that it is not attached to any of the booth lines and is a stand-alone tent or booth.

I've always been confused by the booth numbering system, but I suppose it's partially due to the way the site grew over the years. -Hard to lay out an "address" system when you don't know what the neighborhood is really going to look like.

Booth numbers with letters in front of the numbers (A or P as I recall) are free-standing things like tents, carts or kiosks, but I don't know if the letters have any meaning. I'd arrange them by neighborhood so maybe tents in the front gate zone would be "A-xxx, tents in the area from Bakery stage to the Legend would be "B-xxx" or something along those lines. There's also a lot more temporary booths like tents than they used to allow, so no doubt squeezing in more of them over the last 10 years has effected any rational system they might have started with.

(They also used to require crafters in temporary booths to buy a permanent booth after a couple years, but I think the attitude has changed from wanting crafters to have more investment in the show to the desire for fees from more booths i.e. more income. but that's another topic... )



It probably doesn't help with the correction of typos when we have such a turnover in office staff.
