Title: Future Concerts in MN
Post by: dbaldock on September 23, 2010, 11:55:10 AM
In a round-about way, I found out that Katie McMahon (Soprano soloist with AnĂșna and the original Riverdance) has some upcoming Christmas, and other, shows in Minnesota.  Katie is married to Ben Craig, a local musician, and they live in the Minneapolis area.

EDIT: Here's a magazine article from last Fall, which talks a little bit about Katie's Christmas shows:

Thanks David!

You're welcome!

I sent Katie an email this morning, asking if she ever brought her Christmas show as far South as Houston, TX.  She replied that so far, they've only been down to North Carolina.  But she did mention the size venues that they usually perform in (500-1000 seat), and asked if there were any that size in Houston she could contact.  Time for me to check around!

Take Care,
David Baldock

Are people familiar with the Celtic Junction? http://thecelticjunction.com/ It's located in St. Paul and is a center for music and dance lessons:
"Irish Step Dance, Ceili Dance & Set Dance
Traditional Irish & Scottish Music
Gaelic Language, Literature and Studies
Visual Arts & Instrument Making
"

They also have a decent sized performance space for rent where they also host various local and traveling Celtic music acts. Might be worth keeping on eye on their calendar. It's at 836 Prior Avenue -just a few blocks north of the Menard's store that's on University Avenue in St Paul.
