Title: Safety Services
Post by: Random Girl on September 23, 2010, 12:58:05 PM
For those that aren't in the know, and this goes during the day as well as after hours.

If you see something hinky (not kinky...as in not quite right or just blatently not right)

The number is

952-445-2351

Our office is located on the pit side of fest, near the Irish Cottage and the fencing booth.  There is a GIANT yellow and red sign above the entrance that says FIRST AID.  Go through the red door and head to the door on your left.  Thus lies Safety Services.  Someone will ALWAYS be in the office (or sitting in the "backyard" by the fire) Friday at 06:30PM-Monday at 02:00AM.  24 hours a day.  For real.  I do not kid.  We are always there between Friday and Monday at 02:00.  We are like American Express or MasterCard or whoever had that stupid slogan except we won't give you money, don't ask.

Program that number in your cell phone.  Love it, cherish it, Call it George (not that George, Sitara...though I suppose you can).

It's coming up on 6th weekend.  If you haven't figured out by now that you need to have a pass to come on site anywhere other than the front gate or afterhours or through the backgate or if I feel like stopping you because I'm feeling particularly vengeful than you aren't PAYING ATTENTION.

If you plan to drink afterhours have your LEGAL STATE ID (passport/military ID) on you.  Because if you look like you're underage (Giggles I'm looking at you) I'll ask you for it.  If you don't have it, I dump out your tasty tasty alcohol.  Sucks to be you.

If you are an employee and are staying for cast party next weekend for the love of the flying spaghetti monster follow the two items above this one...you know..pass and ID...really, pass and ID...did you catch it yet? PASS AND ID.  No drinky without ID-y.  No onsite-y without pass-y.  No if's ands or but's and I seriously don't care if I've known you forever and you held my kid when she was but hours old (Steve). Have it.

I love you all, you are my friends but I have a job to do.  Please don't take anything I may say or do while on duty personally.  One of my strengths in SS is that I know a metric crap ton of people.  It's also one of the hardest parts.  I don't like losing friends over something as stupid as me having to do my job.  Don't make me have to make that choice.

Be responsible, have sober cabs, utilize the buddy system, keep your phone, PASS AND ID on you at all times and have a great final two weekends.  They really are the best ones.

Yay Nessa!

To everyone here, I've known Nessa since she was 18 (or 17, can't remember which) and I ALWAYS show her my pass! I also keep my driver's license on me at all times because (as I've told stupid middle aged women standing in line for the beer tastings who say "but I left it at home, my husband drove") if you get hit by something and are lying in a ditch, it's the easiest way to identify the body.

Yeppers! Ditto! Yay Ness!! I've known Ness for a few years now, my husband was her roommate, he held her pretty baby girl when she was just hours old, and guess what every weekend we show her our passes! No questions asked!

:-*

and the id's... yep every day I tell someone they may as well lick the back of their id and stick it to their forehead! Who goes out somewhere without an id!!! Good Grief!

It is so true. At the end of the night even Twig and myself have to bust out those magical plastic thingys and wave them for everyone to see.

And hey, if they are doing tent checks and you are down tehre and then move... try not to argue with them. They probably see hundreds of us... just keep it on you when you move.

I personally have been checked 4 times in a night, but I hopped between groups of people and well, the id was always there. I giggled when they were like "wait... I just saw yours over there" and I still have the make up on, but they just want to make sure that when we can party we do it in the safest environment possible.

I am happy to see you guys and show you my pass. Just remember between wings and bubbles it could take me up to 3 minutes to dig it out of the massive amounts of shells!

You guys do rock. Our unofficial booth policy is that when cannon goes off, passes are around our necks. Safety Services barely has to stop by our booth because we see them coming and hold up our passes.  ;D

Did you hear the story about the 4 garbed visitors who saw a sign that said "Renaissance Faire" and turned in to park?  They thought it was odd when a man stopped them and said "Irish Festival?"  Well, since that was the theme of the weekend, the driver said yes, and the man waved them through.  Then a little later, another man down the road looked at them and asked "Irish Festival?" and then waved them through.

Driving along, they found themselves parking in some kind of quarry.  The one who had been there years ago thought that was kind of odd, as she didn't remember the parking lot like that, but she remembered reading on the MN thread about some kind of quarry, but couldn't remember what she read, so it must have been ok.

These 4 walked through the quarry then up a bloody long hill, thinking no wonder why this faire's parking is free, and found themselves in front of a security man with a big sign behind him saying "must show ID," or words to that effect.

Yes, these 4 dummies parked in the employee parking lot.  And the security guy was so nice.  Alan & Carol moved the car to the regular lot based on his directions on how to get there.  Due to my foot issues, there was no way I could walk all the way back to the car, so another security guy walked Richard & me through the faire before it opened, so we could go out the front gate, meet our friends, and go back into the faire.

We decided that this was a story that we will remember & laugh about for a long time!

This past weekend on Saturday morning.  We figured out that I had gotten the address from the lady at the front desk at the hotel & plugged it into St. Agnes (my GPS).  Well, Agnes didn't know she was taking us in the back way, she just got us to the location!

Actually, my friends and I thought of it as a compliment that our garb was good enough to pass for cast!   ;D

I'm stealing my own email from the list-serve on this:

Fest Friday parking-

There will be NO parking in the pit on Thursday night and Friday
during the day. You will need to park in the patron lot until 5:30pm
Friday night at which point you may begin to put your cars in the pit.
Vehicles found in the pit Thursday night, Friday day, WILL be towed
at the owner's expense.

Please note that vehicles left in patron parking overnight on Friday
night are subject to being logged, a violation sticker placed on it
and possible towing.

And for those of you hanging out for the dead dog stuff on Monday
please move your vehicles from the pit to patron parking no later than
10:00pm Sunday or you will be towed.

Pit operations continue despite our revelry.

Thanks and having a great last weekend. Don't forget to keep your site
ID's handy!

Update from the MNRF listserve:

Happy Final Weekend everyone!

I just got the official word on the parking situation for everyone:  We will NOT be parking in the quarry tonight (Thursday night) or Friday during the day.  Everyone will have to park in the main lot tonight and tomorrow, and we'll all have to move our vehicles by 9 pm Friday night.  After 9pm Friday, regular parking rules are in effect, and everyone will need to move their cars topside by 10 pm Sunday night.  We'll be handing out fliers at Back Gate when you arrive (wherever that ends up being, this is still TBD) with this same information on it.  Please pass the word, and remember to make time to move your car before you start to party.

Please remember that we'll have patrons trying to park tomorrow as well, so let's not take up all of the prime spots.

This is going to be a great weekend, and I can't wait to see everyone one last time!
