Title: time is closing in on year two
Post by: rengypsy on November 02, 2010, 09:11:35 AM
greetings and well-met from inside the enchanted forest of sherwood!!!

it rained last night.  the 2,000 lbs of rye grass seed received their first bit of moisture in months.  hopefully, the roots will spread within our sandy soil and soon start to cover the ground with bright green grass.

the pub has been getting some added touches.  the jail is almost complete.  the mud show stage is finished.  very cool.  the joust tournament field has been doubled in size.

construction on the first of two permanent toilets begins today.

we doubled the size of our parking lot.

we have cleared more land for camping.

so, while TRF is half over and many of us are still focused on that revelry, it's time to start gearing up for year two of Sherwood Forest Faire.

February 19th-April 3rd, 2011.

help us spread the word.  we have some 300,000 pieces of advertizing brochures and postcards to distribute around Texas.  we need folk from every corner of our fair state to take a lead in organizing folk to drop these off at every convenience store, pub, coffee house, student union, etc.

we need folk posting on forums and chat groups, linking websites to our website.  we need anything you can do to assure we have a great second year at Sherwood.

give us your best and we will give it back to you ten fold over.

cheers, brothers and sisters,  see ya soon,

rengypsy

ps. dont forget about december 4th gathering on the grounds.

We can't wait.  We enjoy our time at Sherwood so much more than at TRF.  Though we won't make the Dec 4 gathering, will the grounds be open to the clans for clean up as they were last year?  Are the other mass gatherings leading up to opening day on the calendar yet? (I suppose I could figure out the second question for myself (o: )

Just got back from TRF, my business partner called and asked if a company retreat to Sherwood was a budgetary option.  Yeah I think so.  Will be in touch, we aren't a large group but we have a huge bar and a silly time is had by all.

I can't wait for Sherwood to open, it's a 9hour drive that I'm looking forward to.

So excited about this year at Sherwood.  Our group had a blast last year there.  Just wondering if there will be other opportunities to help out after the Dec. 4th meeting.  We have some prior commitments.

Yikes, less than 3 months!

Experimenting with borrowed stuff.  It takes less than 5 minutes and 214 down strokes with Coleman pump to blow up the double high air mattress.  Gonna save the portable power thingee for stuff that really needs it.  Hummm, wonder if I can make a pot of coffee with it.

Now to see if I can set up the bigger tent by myself.

Ya know Polly, if you plan to pitch in with us this Sherwood season, we have non-generator power for air pumps and we have several coffee fans in camp that keep the thermoses full.  And I'm always available to help put a tent up (o:

Wheeeee!  Clapping excitedly.  Hot coffee!!

Seriously, tested the portable power thingee and the A/C power trips the breaker each time.
