Title: Costume Lab
Post by: groomporter on November 17, 2010, 09:02:59 PM
This was just posted on the MNRFfriends Elist. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/MRFfriends/

Hello everyone!

I'm pleased to announce that we have a location and date for the first MRF Costuming Community's Costume Lab Event!  Now all we need is you!

Costume Lab will provide a unique opportunity to share your skills and vision and learn new things to try in your own costume!  Everyone is invited from Cast to Playtrons, master tailors to people who have never picked up a needle before, and everyone in between that has an interest in making amazing outfits for themselves or others!

Where:
The International School of Minnesota, in the Cafeteria
6385 Beach Road
Eden Prairie MN, 55430

When: Saturday December 4th, noon to 4pm

Who: You!

What we'll be doing:  Since this is the first Costume Lab Event, we get to decide what we want to do!  If you want to sketch and plan your outfit for next season, or if you want to bring something in that just needs mending or alterations, if you want to bring in fabric to start a new project from scratch, or if you just want to hang out with handy, friendly crafty people, please come!  I'll be bringing along my sewing machines and my serger to share (please feel free to bring along your own machines to share or not, along with any other tools you think you'll need) and pretty much transplanting my sewing room to the school cafeteria.

If you have a skill that you'd like to share, please let the group know, and we can set up "mini-classes" so you can teach your skills to others.  I'm going to be spending some time working on circle skirts, and anyone who would like to learn how to make one of these amazing and easy-to-create skirts is more than welcome to learn.

Also, feel free to join the MRF Costuming Community and have access to a growing community of people interested in sewing and creating for Fest!

why Charles, I didn't realize you had a sewing bent.

Nice of you to bring you sewing machine and serger . . . .  ;D

On the other hand, this sounds kinda cool, if I wasn't already occupied that day.

Didn't say I posted it. Besides my serger has been borrowed by my sister-in-law.

Thanks GP.  I got this on the listserv.  I meant to copy it too.

Meagan from SS started this group.

I figured MG and some of the other ladies that sew would be interested in checking it out.

@Goody.  I'm actually trapped at Megan's right now.  She says only about 3 people braved the snow that weekend and made it out.
