Anyone know of a good place to get a sewing machine serviced in the Twin Cities area?
Associated Sewing

I highly recommend the St. Cloud Sewing Center, in St. Cloud. I know you said twin cities, but this is the only place I take my machine.
I second Associated Sewing . . .
I took mine to a place in Champlin. It's on 169 just past the bridge if you are coming from Anoka. They serviced mine last spring. It was about 60 dollars and they did find something thing broken that needed to be fixed. It think it was called A-1 sew craft. Made my machine usable again. :D
Cool, thanks all. I'm gonna see if my mom has any ideas when I see her tomorrow... it's something with the bobbin, because it got stuck in there, and I had to pry it out, and since then the bobbin thread won't catch... but if she doens't know or can't fix it, I'll try Associated Sewing.
has the bobbin worked before?
Yeah, the machine worked great until the bobbin got stuck and I had to pry it out. Mom didn't know what's wrong either... guess I'm taking it to be repaired.
Well, I took my machine to Associated Sewing, and I was very happy with their service.... but they were unable to fix my machine. :( Evidently it needs a part, and it's so old that it might not be made anymore. I'm so sad!! :'( :'( :'(
that sucks the big one
I am so sorry.
what kind of part is it??
If you machine is old and parts are hard to come by, it might be time to upgrade to a more curent model for the sewing that you plan to do.
Janome, Baby Lock, Viking all make sewing machines to suit the level of sewer one is. Prices vary by make and model with features needed for today's garb making.
Even in this economy, sewing machine are selling!
Thanks, Auryn. :) It's the bobbin casing - I think it got bent when I was pulling a really big rat's nets of thread out. :(
Lady Kathleen, yeah, I might end up getting new sewing machine... but I really don't want to have to spend money on that, plus I really love mine! It was my mommy's for many years, and it still works great, aside from this issue. I am kicking myself for not being more careful with it. :( Gonna try calling the Viking dealer and see what they say.... *crossing fingers*
I asked what part it is, because you might get someone to make it.
If theres an engineering school or a mechanical trade school that has a machine shop, they might be willing to make it for you, free or for a reduced cost.
Hmmm, that's an interesting thought... I'll check with the Viking dealer, but if they can't help, I'll look into that. Thanks for the suggestion!
