we are going to have the first bi annual castleteer talent show! plot plan rehearse! there will be a very worthy winners prize. trust me, this is a contest you want to win. the rules will be simple.....anything YOU consider a talent can be entered, one entry per castleteer, judging will be by a panel, to be selected from non participants the day of the event. you must sign up BEFORE dinner. the show will begin directly after dinner.
there will also be a scavenger hunt. every attending castleteer is eligible. pick up an entry form when you arrive. the hunt will consist of basic castle knowledge. hey, you are castleteers! shouldnt be a problem :) turn in your completed entry by the end of the talent show. the winner will be based on most correct answers, incase of ties, a drawing of all correct entries will determine the winner. again, this is a contest worth entering.
ok, prizes. the winner of the scavenger hunt and the winner of the talent show each wins their own night at the castle (based on availability) ......said night can be used any way you choose, overnight, party, video shoot, photo shoot....your imagination.
so, may the smartest and best castleteers win! just thank your god(s) i cant enter!!!!

Just wondering....
Would people prefer if I brought sweet cupcakes (probably pumpkin with cream cheese icing like last time, only no nuts, since I won't be able to eat nuts yet, or possibly banana with nutella icing) or savory cupfakes (probably a cheddar-biscuit type cupcake with avocado icing)? Just trying to make a final decision. I know Lady E really wants banana-nutella, but I also know everyone really liked the pumpkin I made last time...and then I also know there's always an abundance of sweets. xD

Cap'n Faye! Are we still to be capturin' those nasty peeps? They're all over the place all of a sudden! I've captured 50 already to be tossed from the tops o' turrets! Should I freeze them first?
Definitely do NOT freeze them! Freezing them makes them all non-squishy and that means pain if they hit someone below. I have a LOT of them ready to be launched from the roof....and some are from last spring...they're still squishy *gag*...nothing should last that long.
I'm planning on bringing the PeepFlinger2000(TM) as well, if I can find it. >.>

just a note, we have no fire wood at the castle. now because of the ash borer ban anyone wanting to bring wood will need to check their own local laws. safe to say though, that if you are from the general cincy area you are safe bringing in wood.
Just found out today that I have to work the next two Saturdays so our trip to the castle is now canceled unless work this weekend is canceled, F#*%.

Looks like that stash of wood (small boards and wooden wedges) that I have at work will come in handy then. However, with all the things going on right now, I don't know how soon I will be able to bring the wood down.
I also have a bag of scrap 2x4 pieces I can bring.

'teers are dropping like flies. not sure what that means exactly cuz i have never seen a fly drop. but it seems appropriate.
the national weather service is calling for sunny and 46 saturday. which means in general (and in particularly at the castle) it will be somewhat warmer, my personal guess .... 50. BUT, 40% chance for light shower in the evening....who knows
i for one am not concerned with the weather.
I'm allergic to snow. But! I'm going to keep doing a happy dance and hoping for sun. Chilly's okay, S-word is NOT!

Eleventh is quite a number,
And do not think it will slumber,
And in a few short days,
We will all drive through a maze,
To get to our "Castle",
We hope with no hassle,
That which started from a handful,
Eighty plus now and food is bountiful,
All benefit the more to show,
And with the "Castle" all aglow,
Hugs and hello's will be well spent,
From our good "Captain" the "Castle" he has lent,
Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be gone in no time,
so those greetings me's will hold and with that drink may I have a little lime? ;)

I just found a place that will deliver firewood to the castle. We can get a stack of wood 4' high by 10' long delivered for $140.00 (I don't buy firewood, is that a reasonable price?)
If some people can commit help me pay for this, I can front the money to have it delivered before Saturday and then they can pay me at the castle.

well, it just so happens that a tree fell in my back yard about 15 minutes ago. all i need is someone with a truck to come get some of it, i will be cutting it into manageable pieces in the morning. it is about 30+ feet tall and 8+ feet around, so there is more than enough firewood, we just have to harvest it
EDIT ***** apparently i am not supposed to do anything until the insurance company has a chance to check things out. and this being real life and not an insurance tv commercial it will be a couple days .............so that wood is out

Last night brought brief panic when I couldn't find pumpkin at Kroger, but I managed to find it at Walmart, so there will still be cupcakes with cream cheese icing. No nuts this time. xD
We're getting everything ready to go, and tonight and tomorrow night should finish it up! Our poor puppy is already quite confused as to what's going on in his house. xD We're crazy excited, and thrilled to be seeing everyone! <3

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Calm wind becoming northeast between 4 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Saturday: Cloudy, with a high near 45. East wind around 11 mph.
Saturday Night: A slight chance of rain before 9pm, then a chance of rain and snow between 9pm and midnight, then a chance of snow after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Sunday: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
They're usually more accurate than local stations, but one can never fully predict what mother nature has in store for us...
I'll be happy to help BeerSlayer with the firewood expense, and please remember to bring forks, napkins and/or paper towels and paper plates if you can. I'll be bringing quite a few of those items and also I'm bringing coffee for Sunday AM and to help replenish the KOGT coffee stash.
I need to order the wood today so that they can deliver it by Saturday.
If we can get enough people to commit to it I will order the smallest load they will deliver. $140 will get us a stack of split firewood ten feet long by four feet high.
But so far I have only myself, Lady Hawke On the Hill and one other couple committing to help on buying a load of wood. To make this happen we need help from more people. Five, Ten or Twenty bucks here and there repeated just a few times and the castle and the castle grounds will be nice and toasty.

Well, I have the wood that I mentioned previously. I was fortunate enough to be able to fit it all in my car trunk (I was worried that I wouldn't be able to close the trunk lid). I plan to drop it off tonight after my stepdaughters play, as I know that someone will be at the castle tonight so I can drop it off.
We now have a cord of wood plus what ever you bring.
We also do have saltfor the hill
We have done this before its all for the thrill.
There are barrels supposed to hold salt along the hill to help with any rough spots., That is in case movement is necessary prior to a salt truck appearing.

I know two inches isn't much, but I'm not sure our little pickup would make it up the hill on Sunday, should that snow actually show up, and we can't bring the 4WD, because it doesn't really -run- terribly well.

And that's not cool to me.
I would really like to attend this but I work all weekend. I would probably be able to stay a few hours on Saturday night if anything is going on. I've never been to a Castleteer event but I would really like to go! So, please let me know if I would be able to go and if/when there are things happening on Saturday. Thanks :)

The first night was filled with grand fun had by all. Several were in attendance. Jenga was played by many and I myself will say I SUCK..... I was the cause of many drops and knockovers.Today however is a new day and bright outside. We are awaiting the many guest whom we know will be arriving. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
A wonderful time was had by all. Many blessings upon all of you, for showing your true colours, even in the face of the cold wind. And a wonderful thanks to all who brought wood. May we meet again, before the next gathering at the castle.

The castle itself is a marvel. I spent a lot of my time just wandering the structure, looking at everything. And the Drunken Tour was icing on the cake!
Was good to see old friends from Eminence, and made quite a few new ones. Thanks for making my rookie adventure a memorable one!

well everyone, me Belle and me must apologize for our early disapearence. about 7:30pm, sat. even'n, we both felt not up to par, then it hit us, and we's were down. have been in bed for two days with sinus infections, but finally feel'n a little better today. we are very disapionted that we's did not get to visit more and get to see the talent show, that was a bum'r.

Just a side note to all. I currently have 38 passes left for the opening weekend at Ten RenFair. The opening weekend will be May 7 & 8 2011. If you are for sure going to be there for those days let me know. I know last year was a wash yet, I have hope that this year will be a better opening. Email me or message me.
