Title: Support for Martin Montgomery Handfasting
Post by: KiltedPrivateer on January 15, 2011, 09:30:29 PM
So that there is a definite record of the event - Our own Martin Montgomery and Clan P's Lady Flame will be holding their hand fasting at 3pm opening weekend.

A "reception" will be held back at the Clan Procrastination camp site.

Would anyone be willing to help us out by bringing snacks, finger foods or drinks?  Your help will be greatly appreciated (o:

UPDATE as of Monday Feb 14:

For those who have offered to bring a dish on Saturday - There a couple of ways to get the food stuffs back to the camp.

1) Drive In:  You can drive into the camp ground by paying the toll and parking back at our site.  If we run out of room we will start shuttling vehicles to the General camp.  To find us, make a right turn at the cross roads once you pass the ticket booth.  Follow the road around to the left.  After you make your first LEFT turn we are located on your left, three camps down PAST Valhalla.  If you reach the gate to faire (it will be on your right) you've passed us.  Back up 10 yards and you will be in front of our camp.  Look for the banner and boat deck.  Parking will be on the right.

2) I will be hanging around the pub (The Trip, located at the top of the hill) and will carry food back to the camp as required.

3) Call me - Use this number: 1-440-973-6676 (This is a google voice number so be sure to say who you are when prompted by the lovely recording)

I look forward to seeing everyone Saturday.  It looks to be an awesome opening weekend in the forest.

Hmmm, wouldn't they prefer to hold a hand-fasting within the Seven Sisters? I'm sure we can gather enough Druids, fairies, fawns, guardians, etc. to hold the ceremony within the stone circle during the Faire day. It would make a great event for the public to observe a non-traditional joining ceremony. We can even make a large fire for the ceremony. I'm the resident Druid and Paul (Arthur) in his garb has a great circle blessing ceremony.

Bollocks!!!  Gin and I were really looking forward to being there for this, but the elder wee-one has to be at the school at 5:00 for a theater performance.  We were hoping it would be in the morning.

Please send them both the very best from Lech and Ginette.  Hopefully they will still be at faire on Sunday so we can wish them well.

Mike - The actual ceremony will be at the seven sisters, but the reception will be held back in camp.

Let Brooke or one of the lead faeries know the times... perhaps some faeries can some by during the ceremony if you so desire.

As I understand it, They have worked with the wedding coordinator at Sherwood.  So the cast should be made aware of the event assuming that it will be similar to a wedding at TRF.  The time will be 3p.

The wedding coordinator will setup the basic requirements. Sherwood can lay in deeper support for the ceremony. For example, Paul and I can do a full circle opening ceremony (plus I also clean up the Seven Sisters area and lay in spell circles in the area). Both of us do this at no cost, but we need to know in advance to get the proper garb on, since we are busy with many other duties.

We are still planning to make it out!  Probably hotel it.  I will let ya know once we are confirmed.  We can bring something to the reception as well if we are able to make it.

So... where are all the folks staying that aren't camping on grounds?

Scally and I are so very sad that we will be unable to attend MM's handfasting.  We have been so looking forward to it since the announcement, particularly since he is one of Scally's very favorite rennies ever, and one of the first members of her own chosen Fairemily, but so many unforeseen expenses lately will keep us away from almost all Faire for most of the coming season.  We look forward to reading about it here, though, and seeing the photos as they are posted, as well.

We both wish we could be there to enjoy this wonderful event with all of you whom we care for so very much...

I have been notified of the hand-fasting party by Brian. I will have 10 tickets for the "Lawson-Martin Party" at the campgrounds ticket booth. I need a list of those who get those 10 tickets. Without a list, I'll give the tickets to the first ten folks telling me that they are there for the hand-fasting.

Concerning the reception in the Procrastination area, make sure no one parks on the road. Anyone attending must purchase a camping pass, even if they are just coming for the reception. We do not sell the camping passes at the booth behind the Pub, so they will have to go to the campgrounds entrance ticket booth. Make sure your hands get stamped when you leave the Faire area or you will have to purchase another Faire ticket.

A lovely ceremony!  Where else does a wedding take place where all the bride's maids have wings?

Well, Martin, I never even got an opportunity to meet you, but I was at your wedding! Too old and tired to attend the after-hours event, but the vendors at the faire were talking about a huge party in the camping area. It couldn't have been your party, could it?
