Title: Brainstorming, need ideas
Post by: Mairte on January 27, 2011, 01:06:51 PM
Every June, the women in my family have a women's weekend or if time is short for everyone, a women's night. For ALL of us, from the youngest(my niece and nephew, ages 4 and 6. My nephew, at age 4, is still "allowed",lol.) up to my mother in her late 60s. Three of my sisters,my daughters, lots of nieces in their teens...well,lol, you get the idea. :)
Its MY turn this year and I am having it out at the family place in the country. I decided to do a renaissance theme. I have come up with a few things, dressing up for one and having a "feast" at least one of the nights. Putting up a tent,(provided the weather cooperates) decorating it etc.
So, I am wondering about foods, games etc? Something that would be acceptable for all of the ages. I am not sure where to start so thought I would ask here. Many creative minds on this site!!!
I will be sure to keep everyone updated on the planning and definitely post pics. :)

Prhaps you could find a few simple dances you could teach everyone.  Here's a few sites:

Or fun word games like the The Ministers Cat. It's Victorian but so what!

Musical Chairs? Blind Ladies Bluff?  :)

Thanks Anna! I think they would love to learn a dance. Ministers Cat..Musical chairs...blind ladies bluff...all wonderful ideas. :)
My little niece has such an imagination, I know this would appeal to her. Last year she was on a hunt for fairies in the garden. :)
Maybe I could do something special for the little ones, put some glitter here and there or some such, tell them its pixie dust....NOT that I am bashing fairies or making fun. I just remember how I loved things like that, something "magical".

Ohh! Maybe a scavenger hunt or "easter egg" sort of thing for the little ones with little treasures in the "dragon eggs".

If you are gonna do a scavenger hunt, maybe get or make some "fairy" coins instead of "eggs"

Thank you Anna and Auryn! :) I know this is premature, but I sure hope its good weather. I say that now because the last time it rained constantly.
We still had a good time but had to restructure some of the activities.
