I have to say this is the weirdest weather I have seen in Texas since I started living here. I would expect it up where I use to live but not down here.
All I can say is, Doña, you'd better get this all sorted out so that I don't miss your dinner party next Friday... :)
Last I saw, it was supposed to be back up in the 50's and 60's by Saturday, though. Which is good as SAPA has Orientation that day, and it's always preferable to have decent weather.
Your neighbor, Arkansas, has been having some rather unusual weather as well. I can certainly remember much colder winters (well below zero), but I don't think I recall having this many snows in such a short stretch.
Sigh. Right now I would LOVE a high of 30 and a low of 18. :-\
Funny how our perception changes, isn't it Mairte. If we changed places, we'd love it at first...
Thats true. LOL, but I still wish for it! :) Wind chill advisories here this morning.
Have things warmed up at all in Texas?
Don't know about Texas, but here in central Arkansas, we're getting the first of our snow event. Last I checked, we're supposed to get 5-6 inches here. Some areas of the NW part of the state are reporting 12+ so far (unofficial sources).
Houston = waking up this morning to 46 deg and rain...now 32 deg and still falling with rain and sleet.......
Shesh! Could have stayed in Kansas for that! Oh wait, they had 8" last night and around 1 deg. Never mind......
This weather bulletin just in from a friend in south Florida:
ALERT: The State of Florida could be sunned-in for the next few days. Residents have been urged to hunker down at their nearest beach and/or tiki bar for further instructions. Stock up now on Cold Beer & Rum. Use extreme caution while braving this blizzard of sunshine, preferably with an SPF of 30. We are asking our friends and relatives up north to please keep us in their thoughts as we deal with 2 feet buried in the sand...
I have 5 pounds of kitty litter and 2 pounds of rock salt. If my office is closed again tomorrow, I don't want to be stuck in the house all day again.
I don't care how much salt you put on the kitty litter...it still tastes like hell.
Here in Houston: Today we saw a couple of little snow flakes during lunch so we decided to sit it out at the restaurant and have Bailey's with coffee. :P
I just got back from a 2 day business trip to Calgary, Alberta, Canada (clarification for the geographically confused). It is warmer in Calgary than it is in Dallas. WTF?!
In 36 hours I will be on a plane to Florida to partake of the "2 feet of sand". Wheee~
Glad you're not flying out of our aerodrome, because I don't think anything is! You can tell us all about your trip at dinner, a week from Friday! Have a great time! You realize that it's supposed to be in the mid-70s next Friday... Texas weather is almost as weird as Arkansas!
Trust me, I am TOTALLY looking forward to the weather!!!!
Monday... Houston... 71. It's freaking still below freezing, here!
and that is why half our staff is sick! We've had one or two people out everyday along with several others coughing constantly.
