We need a little happiness to spread around this afternoon.
My favorite place on the planet is the front porch of the White House at the Full Moon Inn (http://www.fullmooninn.com/).
A bottle of wine, music on the cd player, a sky full of stars, a couple of puppy dogs and you would swear it was a slice of heaven.

kilauea volcano, yeah I am a bit different. ;D
Even though I feel more connected with New Orleans and parts of Europe, I find myself drawn to this spot. I always stop on my way to Charleston.
The Sheldon Church ruins in Yemassee, SC.
Burned by the British in 1779 during the Revolutionary War, it was rebuilt only to be destroyed by Sherman in his 'March to the Sea.'
The walls stand but the inside is a grass floor.
And you can still smell the charring.
Hauntingly beautiful.

Of all the photos I've ever taken, this is probably my favourite. Nim and I went to New Hampshire for a few days after Christmas in 2006 with my son, his fiancé, and her parents. This was taken from the Appalachian Trail not far from Pinkham Notch, and that's Mount Washington in the background. The highest all-time surface wind speed observed by man was recorded here in 1934: 231 miles-per-hour! Kite-flying weather, eh?
The day we were here, it had warmed up...nice sunny day. Temperature was a balmy 15 degrees Fahrenheit. It was one of the very best days I ever spent! I even have this photo on one of my credit cards...

Just one of the many incredibly beautiful vistas along the Peak-to-Peak highway that runs between Blackhawk and Estes Park in Colorado... This is where I would like to be given to the wind, when the time comes.

Beautiful places all. :)
Well...I got to thinking about all the gorgous places I've been in my lifetime and then I realised my favorite place in the world is just down the road.

Casey Key, Florida. Walk through the seagrapes, plant my umbrella in the powder white sand , lounge back in my chair and slip away to my happy place. A short walk to the left for a hotdog and a grape nehi from the bait shack while listening to tales from the fishermen and watching the boats and the dolphins plying the channel. To the right is an endless strech of sand to wander and look for sea treasures, with a dip in the crystal clear water and the promise of a drum and a pinacolada at trails end. Doesn't get any better than this. :)
So far all really beautiful and each is quite different from the other...Really enjoying this thread, since I'd love to be anywhere but where I am!
Angus, Kilauea is truly a beautiful amazing place! It makes you understand why Madame Pele is worthy of worship!
For me its a tie between the beauty of Hawaii and WV. I love the green mountains and creeks.

A little cabin on Oklahoma.... very quiet... very relaxing
My favorite place on the planet is a cabin along a northern Minnesota lake.
Serious...Love this place for it's splendor and sense of time slowly passing.
The Luray Caverns...That's the ceiling reflected in one of the many still pools.

When the beach gets weird at low tide and the sand gets dips and ripples through it. There's something very magical about it to me. Its like looking to another world.
My home town of Crossmaglen Ireland.

You know those magical forests you read about in fantasy novels? This one's real.
That is AWESOME, Elennare! I'd never heard of it before! I think I will have to visit!
Oooo...I LIKE the rainforest!!
Another favorite place of mine is a certain area in New Mexico and watching the sun come up. You can stand out there and it is all silvery gray then slowly becomes filled with color. The desert truly has a beauty of its own.

My favorite place is the Grand Canyon. I worked out there for a bit and have seen it in the snow, in a rainstorm and under the full moon, which was the only time I could see across the Canyon at night. I like the trails north of the village. Much less traffic and oh so peaceful. I am amazed at how much life is out there. I haven't been in years and am yearning to go back. The hospital I am doing my clincals at has paintings of the Canyon and it makes me homesick.
