Title: My Poor Dog!
Post by: cassietheig on June 12, 2008, 11:39:41 PM
I am so stressed out! I took my 7 year old Italian Greyhound in for surgery on her luxating patella today, and I just got back from visiting her at the vet (she has to stay overnight  :-[ ) She looked so pitiful doped up on all the meds, but I think by the time this ordeal is over it will have been more traumatic for me than her!

IG's are notoriously sensitive to medications and anaesthesia, so please send all your good energy and prayers our direction!

Thank you!

Sending you both good thoughts.  I have chihuahuas so luxating patellas are also a concern.  Keep focusing on how much better she'll feel.

My heart is with you and in my prayers.  I have a 7-8 year old collie.  Also had a 17 year old cat. They are very special.

Thanks for your well wishes. She is home and playing the poor me card.  Looks like I am on the hook for a weekly bully stick through the end of the year to make it up to her.  :)

So glad to hear your baby is home and recovering well.  I understand the compelling nature of those big sad puppy dog eyes, but, You Do Know what Bully Sticks are?  Don't You?!?!  ;)

Not sure what a Bully Stick is, but if it like a guilt trip that our animals do to us, very familiar with that.

Poor thing!  Although, I remember just days after my Westie had her surgery for the same thing and additionally hip dysplasia, with her entire leg in a cast, extended fully, she was walking up and down the stairs, thump, thump, thump.....

They recover so quickly and it just never occurs to them that they can't do something.

A Bully Stick is the dehydrated urinary organ of a male of the bovine species.

You want to kiss me after you've been chewing on that?!?!?!  Doggie Mouthwash ASAP :o

Clarification:

I was speaking as if to my dear doggie.  I love the puppy kisses, but there are some things that are just too gross to ever be acceptable.  I welcome the opportunity to exchange kisses with those who refrain from gnawing bully sticks  :-*
